I absolutely love Housekeeper and the Professor. Such an uplifting read. I'm rereading at the end of the month. I also love Ogawa's Memory Police which is a dystopia.

Oh, I'm glad you like it! I haven't read any of Ogawa's books so I'm excited to read more!

Victoria Holt writes really interesting books. They are all similar to each other, but I love the gothic parts more than the romance parts, lol.

Aren’t cozy mysteries so much fun. I love their whole vibe. So nice to change it up from all the grisly murder and mayhem I usually read. 😂

I love Victoria Holt. I have read, I think, there are so many, the majority of her novels. The best gothic romance writer imho.

I want to read more of hers! They are so light and fun, though I've only read a couple so far.

I've never read The Alienist but I remember seeing it everywhere in stores. Thank you for explaining that term. I had no clue. You hear "alien" these days and think scifi. But of course I knew that couldn't be right.
I understand needing something lighter to clear the brain after Atlas Shrugged. Yegads, that book. I recently finished a reread of Jane Eyre. Before that, I finished my first reading of Uncle Tom's Cabin. Both are fantastic. But not exactly "light reading." I'm reading a children's called Wingfeather. I'm not very far, so I don't even have an opinion on it yet. It's just something fluffy to read before bed.
That China book looks gorgeous! You are so right, that is a steal. Books like that are ridiculously expensive. I hope you end up liking some of the books. Even if not, at least you didn't waste a lot of money. I love finding books at dollar stores/thrift stores. You can't really go wrong.

Yeah, I remember hearing the Alienist title and thinking it must be a sci-fi too, lol. And both Jane Eyre and Uncle Tom's Cabin are great! Though I haven't read Uncle Tom's Cabin for at least a decade so it is probably due for a reread. And I was so happy to find that art book! I'm always surprised how expensive books with pictures are!

Interesting haul! I want to read more Heyer, too! They have been hit or miss for me. Holt isn’t for me. I tried a lot of hers a few years ago. I want to read The Good Earth by Buck later this year! 😄 The Chinese art book looks lovely. Can’t wait to hear what you think of The Housekeeper and the Professor!

The Good Earth is so good! I hope you like it! And Holt definitely isn't for everyone, and sometimes the tropes bother me. Like, the girls are so useless sometimes, lol. But I still enjoy her. And I can't wait to start The Housekeeper and the Professor!
