  • As usual, jammin on a 4 bars loop taken from Erykah's Baduizm live bonus track, Tyrone studio version (bass tuned to DGCF)
The bassist on the original version is Hubert Eaves IV and his bass playing is absolutely jaw-dropping (his father Hubert Eaves III is a keyboardist, songwriter and record producer who worked on all of the hits by the influential dance act D Train in the early 1980s.He also did session work with Mtume).

at that time, i was playing through a cheap Tascam mp-bt1 direct into the Imac input and record with Imovie. Now, i plug into a BSS AR133 di box that goes into a M-Audio interface, i record the audio via Logic and then sync it w/ video.

I am so glad to see a guy running through all these neo-soul classics on bass! Thanks. May I ask, as a bass player, how to you pick out those pesky 9th and 11th chords? Secret keyboard player perhaps? :) I appreciate it.

Man, I always keep coming back and listening to your bass playing videos. Whenever my friends ask me about some silky smooth bass groove I gotta hip them up to Greg F (been doing this for many years now, I remember when this channel was called Fjord76). May I request Erykah Badu's other side of the game bassline by you?
