  • This year, show after show came out of Marvel Studios, from She-Hulk to Moon Knight and Ms Marvel. Then there was Netflix's The Sandman.
And finally we got two shows competing for our attention: Game of Thrones House of the Dragon... and Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power. And clearly... the last one was by and large the most popular... to sleep on.
Ryan George at Pitch Meeting does his thing and pitches The Rings of Power and we give our unfiltered reaction and thoughts.

Other way around actually. He was a linguist by profession and he did come up with elvish as his own language because of that. the mere fact that Galadriel takes volcanic ash to the face and gets dusty is hilarious when you consider that mere seconds later a random horse is on fire and she's not...do her mary sue powers shield her from a thousand-degree pyroclastic flow as well as allow her to single-handedly take on an ice troll and swim across an entire ocean only to randomly come across Sauron on a raft? "Isn't it possible that he engineered this?"
No. Because the only way that would be possible is if he *knew* that Galadriel was going to be sent back to Valinor, which he couldn't know, that at the last second she would jump off the ship, which he also can't know, and where exactly her swimming + tides would take her, which he probably can't know.
Theoretically the Mayar who controls water may have had a hand in moving Galadriel to *a* raft/ship, but we have no idea in the show that they exist given how messed up the lore is in the show, and the fact that the raft that she was guided to (if that is the case) has fucking Sauron on it is just so improbable that its borderline impossible.

In a sense, I think the show is a success. Everybody talked about how bad Amazon’s series was that I ended up buying the actual books on ….…. Amazon.
On a side note, the appendix in the book has an entire section on how to pronounce the names and stuff. Tolkien was a genius. He created a functional language and even considered how the passing of time and mixing of cultures would change it.

They weren't trying to adapt Tolkien's story. That claim's pretty misleading, imo.
They just wanted a AmazonGaladriel x Sauron 'romance', all along. Unfortunately, if they'd tried to cram that into Tolkien's original story, even Amazon's noticeably far less perceptive version of Galadriel would have gotten a bit curious about 'Halbrand' still hanging around after a few centuries.
Besides, it would have been awkward trying to get cuddly with her husband and daughter underfoot....

There is no sense of danger for the main character if you know they survive already. That’s why Andor, while good as just a character piece, doesn’t ever make me fear for Cassian (plus Cassian is kinda dull compared to everyone else in the show).

The writers and showrunners still proceeded as they intended to, regardless of any adjustments. So, we got a turd with sprinkles.

That entire show was one big example of what not to do because everything they could get and do wrong was done.
I hope the guys who were in charge of it never ever get work in producing media ever again. I really truly hope they never get put in charge of anything again!

I mean, we know Galadriel doesn't die, so I really prefer they don't piss around trying to pretend she's in any danger.

Uhmm she could atleast show signs of any struggle... Character development.. questioning her beliefs... Changing or facing consequences for horrible choices in an organic way .. things you see in well written shows

There's a difference between "Knowing they survive" and being a Mary Sue to the point that she casually does literally impossible things. We know she doesn't die but then the writers maybe shouldn't make her swim across an entire ocean and stand in a pyroclasmic storm. That's just awful, incompetent writing by a bunch of people who never read Lord of the Rings and obviously don't give a shit.

Names are important. They have power. They shouldn't be dumbed down just so someone is capable of using their brains and taking the time to learn how to pronounce them.

God that was so funny, and you guys were entertaining as well! Lord, this series SUCKS! I watched 1-6 over the course of , like, three months, and I just can't be bothered to go back to see the last two. I just don't care what happenes to everyone. Elrond and the Dwarf were the best storyline, and even major parts of THAT irritated TF out of me. God, for a Peter Jackson treatment of extra-trilogy material!

Why is Jaby so backwards? LOL. Everybody hated episode 1. Many people , including myself, were going to give up on the show after the first episode. But from Episode 2 onward. it got better and better each episode. Episodes 6,7,8 many people put on par with House of the Dragon.
