In my English class, I asked the teacher to show the LOTR pitch meetings, and it was a class mostly focused on Tolkien's works, so now, in class, every Middle Earth based pitch meeting has been seen except this one

I always found it strange and frustrating that Galadriel was changed from a powerful sorceress to Eowyn, a warrior princess. On top of that they gave Galadriel a horrible personality. At least Eowyn wasn't insufferable.

For instance, if they adapted my favorite book series it would probably turn out to be the worst ever adaption brought to screen yet, because of the complexity.

In a sense, I think the show is a success. Everybody talked about how bad Amazon’s series was that I ended up buying the actual books on ….…. Amazon. On a side note, the appendix in the book has an entire section on how to pronounce the names and stuff. Tolkien was a genius. He created a functional language and even considered how the passing of time and mixing of cultures would change it.

Theoretically the Mayar who controls water may have had a hand in moving Galadriel to *a* raft/ship, but we have no idea in the show that they exist given how messed up the lore is in the show, and the fact that the raft that she was guided to (if that is the case) has fucking Sauron on it is just so improbable that its borderline impossible.

Fun Fact: the names were actually CORRECTLY PRONOUNCED according to the way Tolkien created them & said to pronounce them, ONE OF THE FEW THINGS... they got right....
Sometimes....They flopped around so much and tried pretty much every frigging way you could pronounce a Name, so of course sometimes they would get it right. :D
I think part of the problem is that e.g. Elvish is based on Finnish so it doesn't work if just one word is pronounced "correctly" if everything else is in a completely different accent. At best it will be like an American pronouncing lasagne "correctly", at worst it will be like an American trying to pronounce nộm hoa chuối correctly.
Regarding the "I am good" moment - a bad example of it is clearly in Rings of Power. A GOOD example of this sort of "vague character decides to be good" moment is in The Iron Giant, surprisingly delivered by Vin Diesel during the whole missile part. "Superman". Just one word, but so powerful in that animated film.

All languages are made up but I get where she was going with that. I think the very first joke about how the main character is in no real danger ever is my issue with prequels. There is no sense of danger for the main character if you know they survive already. That’s why Andor, while good as just a character piece, doesn’t ever make me fear for Cassian (plus Cassian is kinda dull compared to everyone else in the show). The volcano thing really bugged me when I watched that episode.

At that point "young" Galadriel was already over 5000 years old and her daughter Celebrían (future wife of Elrond) was over 3000 years old. To compare, during the events of The Lord of the Rings Legolas is almost 3000 years old. In short, this show butchers the characters.

They are well into the production of season 2. Only so much can realistically be changed due to cost and time. That's what happened to ST Discovery. They tried to appeal to people that knew the lore, but that isn't a replacement for competent writing done within respect to the original material. The writers and showrunners still proceeded as they intended to, regardless of any adjustments. So, we got a turd with sprinkles.

Besides, it would have been awkward trying to get cuddly with her husband and daughter underfoot....
Uhmm she could atleast show signs of any struggle... Character development.. questioning her beliefs... Changing or facing consequences for horrible choices in an organic way .. things you see in well written shows

We know she doesn't die but then the writers maybe shouldn't make her swim across an entire ocean and stand in a pyroclasmic storm. Names are important. They have power. They shouldn't be dumbed down just so someone is capable of using their brains and taking the time to learn how to pronounce them.

Let's all be honest, it was a disappointment. We all love LOTR so we had high hopes, but the season was dragged out and the characters were too one dimensional. Plus they were stupid to air it at the same time as House of Dragons.
Why is Jaby so backwards? LOL. Everybody hated episode 1. Many people , including myself, were going to give up on the show after the first episode. But from Episode 2 onward. it got better and better each episode. Episodes 6,7,8 many people put on par with House of the Dragon.
so jaby was supper happy that the show ended, but liked Thor 4 ??, that was a really great movie, people talking to hammers and hammer being jealous of axe.

Uhmm she could atleast show signs of any struggle... Character development.. questioning her beliefs... Changing or facing consequences for horrible choices in an organic way .. things you see in well written shows
There's a difference between "Knowing they survive" and being a Mary Sue to the point that she casually does literally impossible things. We know she doesn't die but then the writers maybe shouldn't make her swim across an entire ocean and stand in a pyroclasmic storm. That's just awful, incompetent writing by a bunch of people who never read Lord of the Rings and obviously don't give a shit.

I watched 1-6 over the course of , like, three months, and I just can't be bothered to go back to see the last two. I just don't care what happenes to everyone. Elrond and the Dwarf were the best storyline, and even major parts of THAT irritated TF out of me. God, for a Peter Jackson treatment of extra-trilogy material!

Names are important. They have power. They shouldn't be dumbed down just so someone is capable of using their brains and taking the time to learn how to pronounce them.

Most of those names are not dificult to say at all, they do the "exotic" ascent on purpose in the series to try to make then sound special, and they just make it worse xD

Let's all be honest, it was a disappointment. We all love LOTR so we had high hopes, but the season was dragged out and the characters were too one dimensional. Plus they were stupid to air it at the same time as House of Dragons.
Why is Jaby so backwards? LOL. Everybody hated episode 1. Many people , including myself, were going to give up on the show after the first episode. But from Episode 2 onward. it got better and better each episode. Episodes 6,7,8 many people put on par with House of the Dragon.
I watch these to be funny reaction of a pitch meeting. For actual movie reviews I just go to Jeremy channel
