I'm in the same boat, didn't watch, not going to. I do know what happens and saw a few snippets, though, and oh boy does it suck. It sucks as an adaptation, it sucks as a standalone, the characters suck, the pacing sucks, honestly the only thing that doesn't totally suck are the visuals (and at 1 billion dollars they better not)
@@lop90ful1 But wouldn’t that make it anti-fan fiction? Because usually fan fictions are made by people who like the ip they are using not hating it and trying to destroy it
3:09 he caught onto the "too many speeches" joke IMMEDIATELY. Smart guy. I would never have gotten the joke that quickly if I hadn't seen the OP first.
I am not really annoyed but due to some rights issues but that is not what Sauron did at all. There was no encounter with Eonwe. But I do not think they could legally do that. It really sucks to because if they had absolute freedom and could use every piece of Tolkiens work, the Second Age is an awesome place to base a tv series on. I know they cannot touch the first age for sure and they probably had to pull stuff out of their arse but come on. They could have done better and not so much woke stuff. Plus Galadriel did not do a whole lot in the second age save warn about Annatar and the rings and encourage the making of the three elven rings separate.
The pitch meeting was better than the show, even if it was just by merit alone of me not falling asleep during it. Also, "big reveal" that he is Sauron...more like "could make it more obvious even if we tried" that he is Sauron
As SOON as he said something like ''Looks can be deceiving'' on the boat I turned to my gf and said ''Okay so that's Sauron'' lollll I could go on and on about how bad this season was for a lot of reasons we already know but in a nutshell, I think I still can't just believe how much money they put into that show and came up with such awful writing. It's mind boggling. I've seen way more cheaper shows like Cobra Kai, for example, that are way way way better written than this.
@@bengirard1984 oh definitely. Some shows would massively benefit from just a fraction this show gets. Shows that actually have good writting but maybe not the best effects, costumes or sets.
The saddest thing is, this should have been a Golden Age of "geek TV", things like this, Willow, the Wheel of Time, The Witcher, etc. And that's just fantasy. There was also a lot of sci-fi and comic book properties. Marvel led the rise during the 10s, but something happened as we rolled into the 20s, and everything just started tumbling down like a jenga tower. And it wasn't the beer flu.
The show is called "The Rings of Power" and said rings are haphazardly cobbled together in like a 15 minute montage in the last episode of s1. Enough said. The only thing the show is good for is for making fun of/learning from all the numerous writing mistakes that form a patchwork of errors, that can hardly be called a coherent story.
To keep on theme with Lord Of The Rings one of Death Battles newest fights is Sauron vs The Litch King from WOW if you wanna react to it. Pretty great fight
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I really like the idea world building. Although Tolkien's world is esteblished, not too many people know of LOTR outside of Middle Earth. We also got to see a very flawed Galadriel, Tolkien does write a lot about Galadriel's flaws as a character which is only something we briefly saw on the Lord of the Rings films. She makes countess mistakes which is something we saw in the Rings of Power. There are a few other things I enjoyed about the series, but I don't want to turn this into an essay. I really don't understand the hate towards this series. I mean, most critics seem to enjoy it as well.
When I binged through this show, initially I thought it was okay. I liked Galadriel, and the idea of her being the main protagonist and a bad-ass warrior elf princess. I also liked meeting Aragorn's ancestors Elendil and Isildur, and I liked the bromance of Elrond and Durin. Also, Bronwyn, the single mom villager in blue, I thought was kinda hot. 😏😍 Though I was definitely back-and-forth about the hobbits' storyline. But after watching the whole show, I do feel that overall it's a bit creatively underwhelming. It's hard to properly and fully summarize my thoughts. Basically, I think the show should've focused on Sauron's rise to power becoming the Dark Lord Sauron and how that coincided with the creation of the rings, and showcasing how the overall war with Sauron either before or after the rings' creation was like. And still having Galadriel kicking ass with her girl power as the main protagonist would be awesome. Consider that, versus a series taking place AFTER Sauron became Sauron and had already lead a war, but still BEFORE the rings' creation, complete with additional padding of subplots. Also, they really should've hired a better actor to play Sauron. The guy they chose doesn't scream Sauron in his appearance and performance. Even as a surprise villain. And seriously, what is the deal with any project involving J.A. Bayona completely ignoring the fact that volcanic ash melts people?!!! Ryan taught me that in his Jurassic World 2 pitch from way back when.
You said it, it just sucked. Boring as all hell. I could not bring myself to watch the whole thing. Think I watched 4 episodes or some such, and that was too much. Galadriel was brief in the OT, but she became my favorite elf in that short time. Legolas is really cool, but she was smart, kind and wise to a very deep degree. So I could not understand what I was watching in the show. I chose to instead read The Silmarillian, and that was a page turner.
As always, R,G, on point. A 10-minute pitch meeting is always better than the actual movie.
Isn’t it a show?
"Obviously being Gandalf is TIGHT!" 🤣🤣🤣😂😂
I love how he doesn't even have an intro.
That's confidence.
I could not bring myself to watch this show, I love The Lord of the Rings too much.
This pitch meeting was hilarious though 🤣
dont worry rings of power is pretty much fanfiction from people who didnt like lord of the rings.

Hilarious pitch meeting! Everything they said was correct, but I watched every episode.

The only review anyone needs of this show is the reflexive head-shaking at just the thought of it being introduced.
Hearing him pronounce Tolkien names is pure dopamine.

@@OnMyMindEntertainment they wasted it in the army that shows up out of nowhere 😂
I wonder if they are still trying the whole subvertion trope by making every female lead unlikable.
It’s almost like her being self-absorbed is literally a plot point that led to Sauron figuring out the rings.
