Shame this didn't come out sooner (but I get it, life has been crazy and there's not enough time in the day) - but so far I've done great on my Hunter. Regularly getting 99 parses despite not playing perfectly. Hopefully I can learn a few things from this podcast to finally hit those 100's!
MM’s damage is about 80% phys by the time you drop arcane shot. Weapon ilvl is absolutely your biggest upgrade, but arp is equally a factor in scaling your damage. Just less so until ICC where you’ll have it on all of your gear. The 80% physical is important because it allows MM to be a solid Hysteria target if no feral is present (gives a stronger MD to tank too)
I played survival in vanilla and tbc, I hate what they did to surv in wrath so I went bm for this xpac and its incredibly fun. I love playing solo taking down elite mobs and farming gold on my hunter and bm is great for this. Just tamed arcturis last week too and hes a blast to have in the stables. You guys gota realise, not everyone plays the game to be a slave to the meta, or a parse slave.
So imma boost a char on a server with friends would you go spriest or something else like what I see from vids of them? Not to familiar with ranged classes thanks for any input
Really depends on what you will end up doing end game. If you are not planning to go for hardcore parsing it literally doesn't matter what you pick, all range classes are viable

how mutch armor pen do i need to MM could be better than survival ?
Sounds like you need an ulduar wep from hardmode or algalon then marks pulls ahead weapon dmg matters than arp according to this episode
