If you set up in a DWG timeline, why not just put the input in Dehancer as DWG and skip the CST? Also, I have a timeline set up as DWG but put the colourspace input for the clips as the specific camera - I then never know what input to put in Dehancer. Whatever I do seems to be mega cyan.
Love the tutorials overall! But I have a few questions regarding color management. Why do you use a CST to convert from DWG to Rec709, then use Dehancer with Input set to DWG/Rec709? Since you've already done the Rec709 conversion in the previous node, shouldn't it be just Rec709 as input for Dehancer? And should there be a 2nd CST node to convert Rec709 back to DWG? I tried it your ways, and some scenes with a lot of blues(beachside ocean scenes) have weird blue clipping/banding. From the Dehancer manual, it says if work in DWG environment, just set input to DWG/Intermediate. But it never yields good results for me this way. I always have to tweak quite a bit to get it look right as opposed to working in a REC709 environment where the input is set to the specific camera profile.
@@DixonWangYF honestly I have tried multiple ways and that’s what worked for me best at the time. But honestly I don’t really use dehancer anymore. I recommend taking a look at filmbox and try the free version first because it’s expensive but honestly worth every penny for what it does to your image. So freaking good seriously
Why is your output gamma on your CST node (second to last) set to gamma 2.4 and not rec709-A if your project settings have output color space set to rec709-A? Is there a reason you wouldn't want those to match? I'm new to Resolve and trying to figure out why my footage looks different in Resolve than it does when I import into Premier Pro for editing. Thanks for the info!
Great review and loved that you went through the whole process. A couple of things from my experience. I find the grain looks better if you just put it in the shadows. Halation with no remjet looks really nice. And the color boost makes a huge impact to the final image 🙂
Honestly that is why I went through everything in the video because sometimes it’s frustrating not seeing it all. I missed going over the color head tab but if I do any others I will have to mention it. Thanks for your support. It means a lot
Honestly it’s up to preference. I just noticed that it was reacting and looking better. (In my opinion) even if it does not make sense it is all about the end result
Also side note I watched a video after making this one and noticed the person doing the same thing but they actually explained why they did it. I think they said it just looked more photochemically correct.
Only recently found your channel and really appreciate how u break things down. Especially for a beginner like me. Would also be great if somehow u can do basic tutorial on phone video footage (thats all i have.. an android 😅🥴)
I’m trying to improve on the daily with my communication on this kind of stuff because I have had to rewatch videos so many times to find clarity in the mass amount of knowledge needed to comprehend to coloring and everything filmmaking related. Thanks a lot I really appreciate you!

Thanks for the tips! and the compliment of course. I will have to try that out.
Great review - thanks for doing the full process - not many channels do

Thank you for a fantastic review! If anyone has questions about Dehancer, please drop them below.
so why did you use dehancer after the DWG>709 CST?
