A librarian is a person who works professionally in a library, providing access to information and (sometimes) social or technical programming. In addition, librarians provide instruction on information literacy. They are usually required to hold a graduate degree from a library school, such as a Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Studies.
After years of changing my major I realized this was where I need to be. I constantly love to learn, research and read. After managing a busy book store for 5 years I want to get my mastets in librarian and information sciences. 💗
First of all, there are LOTS of different kinds of librarianship - school, public, corporate, law, music, art, medical, etc. that allow you to work in many different fields while still working in a library. You can also work as an archivist, data curator or analyst, cataloger, researcher, resource manager, and many more career paths. Each of these careers uses information science to connect people and information.
Ppl use to read, research n write papers in order to learn HOW to think. HOW to expand upon ideas that are not just opinions shoved in our faces on social media. Today kids, teens especially if "home schooled n doing school work via an online program; they are not learning how to critical think or problem solve. Instead it is merely google the answers n teachers completely missing the point as are parents at home(the pandemic via virtual learning really displayed this). I fear the next gen of kids being how 20 yr olds n younger react/behave etc.🐢🐢🐢Cara
Cataloging librarians create and maintain the catalog records for a library. They keep up with changes in cataloging rules and language, and update catalog records and labeling to ensure that people can find the materials they are looking for.
This is a great question! And the answer is...it depends. Sometimes publisher will send ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies, special copies of books given only to a few people before the books have been released to the public) for librarians to read and write reviews on. These books usually get sent to people that write book review blogs, are BookTubers, or have their reviews published in book review journals. Unfortunately, I am not one of those librarians.
They do view it! I actually made this video for the students I work with because a big part of library advocacy is educating your patrons on the services you offer :)

Do librarians get free books?💚💚

The music is annoying.
So, turn off the sound and use the closed captions.
Either speak up or dump the music. Preferably the latter. kthxbye
