    Hello my friends and join me in yet another unique episode! I say unique because we will discuss a brand you possible have never heard off.
    Heinrich Dinkelacker from Germany is actually a very old shoemaking brand, that has now merged with the online retailer Shoepassion. Fully handmade shoes made in Hungary with a very Austro-Hungarian design and chunky lasts and welts.
    This model is the Buda Full Brogue C and it's an absolute unit! A round last, triple braided welt, double leather JR soles and Navy Horween Shell Cordovan. All for a massive $1250-$1355 (depending on location).
    This pair was originally sent to me for a review in 2019 (article below) and I though it would be a nice thing to make an updated review after 2 years and around 25 wears! All in all, a very niche shoe and design but certainly well-built.
    Let me know what you think!

    Just clearing up where Dinkelacker shoes are produced: Since the mid-sixties until late last year the shoes were produced in Hungary. In 2020 shoepassion (owners of Dinkelacker) stopped the Hungarian production and moved production to Almansa in Spain (presumably to the same company who produces the shoepassion range). On the Dinkelacker website they state very clearly that the shoes are produced in Spain.

      Interesting, they did? I should have maybe done more due diligence or didn’t expect this. Thanks for sharing 🙏

      Reducing the costs

    • @MrNightblindness
      @MrNightblindness 2 года назад

      @@MisiuAcademy Definitely not- Spain is more expensive than Hungary. They lack of employees in Hungary, that's why they moved. It remains to be seen if the quality stays the same.
      The investor of Porsche was (among others) the former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking - he was worried that they might stop the production of his most loved shoes - so I have been told.
      "JR" on the leather sole means "Johannes Rendenbach" probably the best and long lasting soles on the market.

    Great video and review as always Kostas! Thank you.
    HD is not a brand I know much about so I appreciate the variety. Also, you have raised your game w/ the suit, shirt and tie combination. Very elegant!
    Do you know if HD shoes are currently made in Germany?
    Keep featuring new brands and per the comment below, it might be time for a shoe closet tour.
    Cheers!

      HD moved to Hungary since many years, because in Germany there were not so many shoemakers. In Hungary there are the best shoemakers in the world. Hungary is the Mekka of high end shoemaking. Every HD shoe is made by hand

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 года назад +1

      Unfortunately when I originally got these shoes there were rumors they would move the factory somewhere else, which I don’t know if it’s true, but in any case they are handmade and if you like this unique style it’s a good brand :)

      @@MisiuAcademy No this is not correct. The manufacturing of Heinrich Dinkelacker is still based in Hungary since the sixties. Before this time the manufacturing was based in Germany, but there was a lack of good shoemakers in Germany at this time. Therefore the founder Heinrich Dinkelacker moved to Hungary, I think it was in the sixties, because of its best shoemakers. Dinkelacker has now been earned by the Berlin brand Shoepassion. Every HD shoe is really still handmade, therefore the production volume is very low, only 25 pair of shoes per day . I bought a pair of Cordovan loafers and I had to wait almost 3 months until I got them. As the shoes are made by hand there might be slight differences between one pair and another, because every shoe is practically unique. When you look into the shoe you can see the written name of the shoemaker who made this shoe and you can also read the date when this shoe was finished. The sole of HD is made by the German tannery Johann Rendenbach, which is located in the town Trier in Germany(printed on the sole JR) and is regarded as the best sole at all by experts. The quality and robustness of HD is the best you can get. Meanwhile I have 19 pairs of them. Now HD also has Sneakers in the portfolio. I must have them :-)😀

    The Brand Heinrich Dinkelacker is from Germany but the shoes are made in Budapest. Shoepassion isn't a retailer Shoepassion is a Manufacturer that makes it shoes in Spain. But they sell them by themself, not over resellers. After acquiring Heinrich Dinkelacker they sell both brands. Shoepassion doesn't sell other shoe brands so they are no reseller.

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  Год назад

      Shoepassion shares a website link with HD. I know it was bought by the Porsche guys. However not all their shoes are now made in Budapest as they moved some of the production in Spain too it seems.

    I don't think that these shoes are by any means chunky if you are a tall and/or big guy. I'm 1,92m and about 100kg and in fact these shoes make your foot look rather small than big. The width is a little more than usual and makes it quite comfortable wearing them all day. I have a lithe wider feet and the fit of shoe shoes for me is perfect. I would not consider cordovan but calf leather and then the pricing with about € 600,- was also fair. The raised the prices this week about € 200,- wich is impertinent to preposterous - in my opinion.

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  2 года назад

      There’s a lot of pricing adjustments in all companies lately, it’s understandable. But 200€ and moving to another factory location where it’s not certain if they can keep the same quality standards, I’d stay away from them unless on extreme sale

    Kostas
    In this episode you stated you used to wear your shoes too small. I was always told( or that’s what I recall) to buy leather as tight as you can bear and let the leather mold to you.
    Maybe, hopefully you already haven’t and I’m asking a moot question, could you do a video on proper fitting?

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jeffrey,
      Never buy too tight shoes. It will cause foot health problems and even a condition called bunion. Your shoes should be snug but not uncomfortable.
      I will not be doing a proper fit video as I lack the technical knowledge as of now and I don’t want to spread misinformation. I will certainly make one next year when I attend the shoemaking school!

    Does it come with rubber on the bottom? Did the rubber wear off? I find it too slippery to walk in a shoe that has a wooden sole only.
