What an incredible panoramic view the driver has. Never seen anything like that on trains here in England.

Un agréable voyage, plein de nouveautés. Quelle infrastructure, quelle méticulosité dans le métier du conducteur... il me semble que le train roule au Japon depuis des siècles. J'ai noté avec plaisir que souvent, on a l'impression que la cabine flotte latéralement sur les rails !

I am also a train driver and in my country also adopted it from Japan, its called "pointing and calling". The technique improves safety by reducing careless errors, and for the signboard i believe it's kind of a timetable because it's a little different from the one used where i work
Heading of this video should have been translated in English too ... as very hard to find where I am traveling ?

I'd like to know the purpose of the flat-panel like device and the smaller device ahead are used for. Thank You.
At the changeover of drivers at 15:20, you see the drivers exchange the contents of the device on the left, together with the device mounted on top of the dashboard, which they take with them. The device on the left holds the timetable that the driver is issued with for their leg of the trip. As in many other Japanese train videos, you see the driver refer to it frequently to check their punctuality. As for the smaller device that sits on top of the dashboard, I suspect that it's some kind of "black box" logging device for recording the course of events while that driver was in charge of the train, and perhaps also for verifying the driver's times on duty.

Splendid! What i want to know is, if there are any lady diesel locomotive drivers in Japan? My ex drove them here in Uk, i believe we have the most lady loco drivers (she told me, she was one of 12 such, 6 years ago). I plan on writing a book as i think i must be the only trainspotter to have been lucky enough to of had such a dream come true eh!! I have a bunch of her video's to me for sharing on this site :D

Personally I think the camera distorts it a little bit but it's still a far sight better than most other trains (Looking at you British Sprinters)

I was on a train in Japan with, I assume, a trainee driver, who was loudly calling out that every signal was "green" (actually "blue", but it's green!) as it came up. They do it all the time, but no so loud if an instructor isn't there.
At least one fatal crash happened in the UK because the driver was packing his stuff up, ready to clock off, and missed several "warning" signals. By the time the automatic brake came on for passing a red signal, it was already too late, and the train hit a cargo train that was crossing the main line.

It looks not very fast. I estimate 140 km/h.
Very good estimate. The 283 Series (in description) has top speed of 130 km/h (on Wikipedia). It looks faster on video than it really is.

I would live to know just WHAT her RIGHT hand is holding ? as it does not appear to control the Speed of the Train, so I would guess that her LEFT hand is doing that on some sort of controller that the viewer is not able to see.
I would like to know that too. If it were a car, it could be a gear shift. Could it somehow control the drive wheels in curves?
I noticed when she stops at a station, she puts it all the way forward, as if in "PARK".
