I stopped playing cod and moved to overwatch this cod. They just reduced the skill gap by making movement slow and SBMM has been too strong in recent cods.
Ranked is more fun for this very reason. Deaths are way less random due to limited guns, attachments, and equipment. And for the most part, everyone on both teams is trying to win so the game just plays better than when half of either team is camo grinding or trying to complete some random challenge
Glad you keep hammering home the fact that they seem to completely forget about the PAID VERSION OF THE GAME! And it wasn't just a normal paid version, it was $10 more than normal, at least for me in Canada. It's $89 and usually games are $79
@GAMIR_3DH The problem is that this is a live service game. People expect their money to go further, especially towards entirely new content and lots of it. Yeah, I'm interested to know that too, because randomly disconnecting happens quite often in this game. It just logs me off from game and forces me quit to desktop :/

Honest question ace, what is the point of a ranked mode if regular public matches essentially treat every match as ranked? I just dont understand this. Isn't the point to only be matched with similar skilled players and have a rank to show for it? I know their algorithm has other factors in pub but not significant ones
A few things: 1. Pubs don't use a proper SBMM system, it's an EOMM system that's based far too heavily on recent performance rather than actual skill level so you can see crazy swings from game to game. Ranked uses proper SBMM with a visible SR score. 2. Ranked allows you to see your skill rank so you know where you stand and you can track improvement over time. 3. @@TheXclusiveAce i get that the matchmaking is slightly different, but it kinda seems like the only real benefit is that i can see where i stand vs other players in ranked mode. I like how they have a system in ranked that doesn't set you back when you lose matches. Cumulative win trackers will be rewarding, and it will allow people to step out of their comfort zone and give competitive a try. Edit: I am aware that it's not a big reward, and that SR is important, but, assuming that you keep each season's rank emblem as an equippable emblem on your card, it does provide a sense of accomplishment (or embarrassment if you get the dragon emblem but are still bronze/silver). I just like the idea of a constantly improving reward regardless of your performance, keeps the pressure off.
I don't think wins trackers would be that rewarding. Winning is a team effort rather than an indication of your skill in particular and winning 100 matches doesn't mean much if you've lost 1000. I think the ranking should be based on WL ratio or KD ratio.
BTW, Siege recently changed their ranked play similarly where there are no more placement matches and everybody starts at the bottom. It can initially be jarring because some of the lobbies I had at copper were significantly more difficult that the ones I got at gold.

Just would like to point out how similar this ranked system is to Apex Legends Ranked play. Damn near identical amount of ranks, playing with teammates only within a certain rank of your, rank demotion after the season, demotion protection, etc. Super super similar, and I will say the ranking plays EXTREMELY well following this system. Only big differences we will have to wait and see about is just how many SP you are gaining for a win/loss as Apex's system is going to be much different being a BR. Very interested to see how this plays out
Its looking good, as someone who has never been interested on rank play and doesnt really enjoy MW2022 that much outside of shipment for grinding camos, I will give it a shot, maybe it will give a reason to grind the game
Ranked play is nice and all... but we have 6v6 ranked play with hidden ranks. It being based on win/losses rather then an equal split of how you play and a win/loss makes it pointless. This basically discourages solo and casual play or anyone without a full team of friends on Discord.
Does that mean that IW can abolish the SBMM system from the core gamemodes? I mean that is the logical follow up of introducing a real ranked mode. The casual playlist can finally be casual again.
The info about the CDL ruleset is so fuzzy.... they say they use the same rules, but if you look up the linked rules in the blog post, there is nothing about input device. So people on PC are talking you still are forbidden to use MKB, while this is nowhere stated ingame, in the blog or the linked rules for ranked. You only find this "controller-only" rule in CDL tournaments and challengers rules. Can somebody give me any official info on this? If they let you play with MKB just fine in ranked and the game itself or the blog doesnt tell you to not do it, it cant be forbidden.
I notice, that this is the second gameplay were Ace is restocking ammo at an ammo box without reloading his primary and just shredds through the lobby with a pistol. Love it.
I had such a blast in halo ranked when they split up inputs. I hope they do this for cod but I know they won't. This is for enjoyment and competitive integrity's sake not complaining about one input or the other. I don't want to play a competitive game where my input decides which fights I can win.
@@McNutEVD me neither I think for multiplayer it's actually balanced very well. However in many situations either input will outright win with little to no counterplay. For instance, mnk has the ability to instantly turn around/snap to angles. There are many situations where that ability leads to controller physically not being able to fight back. For controller, the ability to accurately track fast changes in direction can lead to engagements where mnk can physically, humanly, not track an enemy while that enemy can track them. This lowers the effective ttk for controller in those situations. It ends up being pretty difficult to play the game in a way that insures you always play to the strengths of your input as a lot of these engagements are rather randomly construed. Anyways, I would like to win and lose engagements based on how I play and not what input I am on. At least in a competitive environment. I will say that the ttk being very low, the difference between the inputs is extremely minimal compared to warzone where controller dominates.
Simple: makes less money. We have to decide how long we want to remain addicted to these franchises. They use the same level of fuckery and manipulation that social media does but the general gaming public has yet to catch on
My very first Ranked Play game there were levels 13, 11, 5 and 3 on the opposing team (and one of them had a SILVER RANK!!!) while my 1 party member, a rando and myself were lvl ONES and the fourth person on our team was a 3…. We got utterly annihilated with a score of 38-250 on headquarters.
Speaking as a direct audience member this mode was created for...I'm someone who has always casually played CoD. I'm 35 if that matters. I would absolutely say I enjoyed playing CoD. But Warzone was the perfect storm. The perfect blend of competitive but still fun. That got me hooked, and I've been truly invested in playing CoD (still mostly casual, but I'm pretty ok). Now I'm wondering how good I actually am and if my Warzone skillset can convert to multiplayer competitive modes. From that perspective, this is perfect. I feel like this match and rule set is the best way to match players against each other. Absolutely looking forward to jumping into this.
Ive never even considered rank play but given the icons and rewards, I might have to grind some to get some of those operator skins. Idk if its because of the lack of truly grindable content or what but its got my interest hopefully the system feels rewarding in action.
Probably because it´s finally a reward that you can´t just buy, you have to earn it. So it actually means something and carries some "prestige" as Ace likes to call it, like the way calling cards did back in the days. 👍
Ranked play looks good and it has control as a gamemode. Idk why Control isn't an option for casual. It's the only objective game I like and it not available in quick play.
Ace to clarify your issue with vanguards ranking system. I experimented with it, if you had high stats and sbmm in public match it carried into your ranks. On my main account I won 3/5 placements games but I'm also in the highest sbmm bracket, giving me Master top 2% regardless. But when I went on my alt account and reverse boosted in public match and then went to ranked I won 5/5 dropping over 60 kills on all 5 games and I got placed in the bottom 25%. It isn't based at all on how you play but rather your sbmm bracket in pubs. I'm so happy they're finally reworking this because omg it has been so bad for so long.
@@TheXclusiveAce But stats versus what sbmm bracket you're in are different. You can have high "stats" without being pushed into the higher bracket. This can be done by playing with some friends or other youtubers who may not be as good as you. But what I do know is that sbmm bracket is what matters not exactly your stats. But then again my stats are on average top 1.5% (technically 1.4%) and I only play by myself so my bracket doesn't get much outside influence.
The rewards could be interesting but ultimately it is what is lacking for ranked play. No one cares about decals and emblems anymore, and especially a sticker or loading screen. It’s all about camos and operator skins, so hopefully there are so good rewards geared toward that.
Turn down SBMM, turn off disbanding lobbies and keep ranked play for those who want to get to play all same caliber. The one issues with SBMM and disbanding lobbies is I think multiple games against similar players tell you if you belong.
They could do placement like some computerized standard tests: have 10 placement matches. However, your opponents and teammates will be chosen from those who have the same win/loss rate as you. They should also do the best to match based on individual performance after matching based on win/loss. (Incidentally, Hearthstone already implements this system in their Arena mode.)
Yesterday I was "meh" about Season 2, but I dunno Ranked Play kind of has me interesteed....ugh, def. not buying battle pass, no idea who I'm gonna play with everyone's playing hogwarts or another live servce game that's NOT COD RELATED lol. EDIT: 3:15 yep! same for Cold War too remember? The first week's placements were off.
Dont be fooled bro, Just go play Apex legends for good gameplay they droppin a 6v6 tomorrow on the 14th for their season 16. Activision knows this so they tried to steal Players that would be going over there
I like how ranked play is going to teach the players how to work as a team and the responsibilities of a team bc Most players I have encountered have been lone wolves with no communication very little to no strategy and no teamwork until it's far too late in to the match so ranked play and I have always wondered why players care more about the kills then the actual objective itself in gamemodes which require you to work as a team such as snd, headquarters, domination, hardpoint prisoner rescue and control
One more thing that's necessary: When in higher ranks, the game should find the server in the middle when it matches people on different sides of the Earth so both have close to equal ping. Better both team to have 100 ping than 1 having 40, and another like 160... for example.
Still haven't answered if now they will get rid of sbmm now that they have ranked. One of the reasons people wanted rank was to get rid of sbmm after all
Okay please help me out: what's the point of having only limited game modes and loadout restrictions? I can get the CDL ruleset in CDL since/if the goal is to make it a better spectator sport but why couldn't we play an occasional round of Shoothouse Kill Confirmed with our M4s in ranked?
I actually totally love and am all for Ranked play, placing/starting everyone off in bronze. Finally everyone will legitimately start off on an even playing field and be required to progress from the bottom forward as opposed to being subjected to matchmaking pairing you with players worse than bots just to get shafted on your initial placement. I was never a fan of the whole 10 placement matches required to be placed within a division. I know 100% that I speak for more than just myself when I say, going back to Black Ops 2 League play; if you didnt do all ten of your placement matches with 3 other ppl as a full squad of 4, you could literally bet your 10th prestige account that you would be getting placed in bronze with the absolute best possible outcome being the lowest tier of silver. For a " Placement matche" system to truly work, devs would first need to start by requiring some type of prerequisite prior to even being eligible to play in ranked games. Somethings similar to how some MOBA's work in which they require a player to NOT just be a specific level in game but also to have master "X" amount of characters. COD would need to require at the least,.. Reaching level 100 a specific amount of game time played not just overall but also within the 3 competitive game modes themselves. As well as at least one if not 2 more things.. Needless to say I'm excited for MW2's ranked play and I'm intrested to see how the Ranked seasons will work as well as what kind of rewards will be in play
my statement on ranked play as a whole thing honestly it really would push players to try they best and push they limits in some other then casual vs sweating for no reason besides honor and bragging rights it shows who truly is good or bad at the game cause i see soooo many players tired of dealing with try hards in casual games fighting like they in a war with isis and or to feed they family with each win now y’all have a reason to try hard vs doing it in a casual game and im joining in on the rank since i played CDL moshpit so i know what to expect out of it vs regular game and i expect alot of trash talking, shooting bodies, and cheap angles to out play and honestly can’t wait to see the players i come up against and improve my play style to reach greater heights
They should have ranked for FFA Dom and Search separate. Then have a cdl Playlist. That's how to convert casuals to ranked. I can grind ffa ranked to level up if my level is capped on pubs. I need to develop a game.
The Day 1 Bronze Meat Grinder sounds like a lot of fun. I have no interest in ranked, especially since the maps and gear is limited? but I'm down to see what kind of cluster fuck it is for the first few days.
Could you make a video explaining why the things that are banned, are banned? Some are obvious to me like silencers and thermals with smoke. But why lasers? Why some guns?
Is this even worth trying as a SOLO PLAYER who would match up with randoms ?? Sounds very sweaty and obviously an advantage to players who actually play together all the time. Just wondering if that they want the player base to grow, then what is the incentive to even try it ? Probably getting shouted at as the NOOB of the team etc
Well this is what il be grinding. Just having a badge or something to play for with competitive settings is a huge step over playing Pubs with thick SBMM and no competitive settings anyways.
I've spent most of today playing ranked and they really should have done placement matches. I've seen guys dropping 50 and 60 kills in hard point when the next best has 20. Saw one dude in a final kill cam dropshot 5 different people with a red dot on a sniper.
Good to hear, as much as I enjoy watching you sweaty content creators and those on that skill level, I don’t enjoy getting mollywhomped every other game. Lemme be mid and enjoy my time while y’all sweat it out in Ranked 😂
This could be really good as an alternative to sbbm. Partly Because although you will be up against more people of a similar skill level at least that won't mean all the yoyoing up and down the score sheets never knowing if you are really playing well or badly . One match you are a god top of the score board and the next you are at the bottom feeling like your bullets don't work and getting killed after you get round cover . Is just a pity there will be limited maps and modes . I skipped vangaurd altogether but ranked in cold war seemed very hot and miss and ultimatley put you off playing ranked because it never felt like it made Any sense you played really well winning most of your matches and found yourself going down .
Sounds much better than I thought it would be. I hope the rewards are good though and they show your rewards by getting a "crimson camo" for example. Or a "crimson character skin". My problem I was having are my team mates I play with are low skilled... However I thought if I go into it with randoms then they will back out and cause me a loss... So it's good to see I'll be protected
Again, this is my first COD. Heard ranked is usually nice and balanced in terms of matchmaking. Haven't played in awhile so I'm rusty as all hell, perfect time to get back in maybe

I don't want to play a competitive game where my input decides which fights I can win.
i play both and truthfully i don’t think one has a straight up advantage over the other
SBMM... its finished...
95% play on controller in ranked
I will say that the ttk being very low, the difference between the inputs is extremely minimal compared to warzone where controller dominates.
i think halo is mixed now cuz game dying
Thank you!!!! It's about time. This is the only reason I'll be loading up this game and it was the only reason I played Vanguard
How in the WORLD could public matches not have this amount of thoughtfulness put behind them in terms of gameplay, ranking, etc. from any level of IW
Simple: makes less money. We have to decide how long we want to remain addicted to these franchises. They use the same level of fuckery and manipulation that social media does but the general gaming public has yet to catch on
So far it sucks. 1 win in 20 matches as the top performing player, still stuck in bronze cause I get nothing but golds and plats on the teams
Now they just have to put ranked play in warzone to make warzone a game where you can progress in for rewards.
Ranked play should be in the game at launch and strict sbmm should only be in ranked play. They killed the enjoyment for casual players
God I had a good laugh when the KillCam of that happycamper dude came. Pure gold
At least he lives up to his name!
Ranked is such a logical and pretty simple thing it's a crime it took them this long.
My pub stats were in the top 5% during Vanguard's life cycle so this theory doesn't appear to be true.
True. I also hope the rewards are varied in style and theme. I don't want all my guns to glow bright neon colors or all be very basic
Turn down SBMM, turn off disbanding lobbies and keep ranked play for those who want to get to play all same caliber. The one issues with SBMM and disbanding lobbies is I think multiple games against similar players tell you if you belong.
I literally haven't played Ranked or League since Black Ops 2. Keen to give this a try tho!
I've never played any ranked in COD yet, I think this new system sounds great and I'm wanting to give it a try
I tried rank play with my homies and we all had great time playing
Yesterday I was "meh" about Season 2, but I dunno Ranked Play kind of has me interesteed....ugh, def. not buying battle pass, no idea who I'm gonna play with everyone's playing hogwarts or another live servce game that's NOT COD RELATED lol. EDIT: 3:15 yep! same for Cold War too remember? The first week's placements were off.
Ranked play gon be fire
Dont be fooled bro, Just go play Apex legends for good gameplay they droppin a 6v6 tomorrow on the 14th for their season 16. Activision knows this so they tried to steal Players that would be going over there
I like how ranked play is going to teach the players how to work as a team and the responsibilities of a team bc Most players I have encountered have been lone wolves with no communication very little to no strategy and no teamwork until it's far too late in to the match so ranked play and I have always wondered why players care more about the kills then the actual objective itself in gamemodes which require you to work as a team such as snd, headquarters, domination, hardpoint prisoner rescue and control
this may bring me back to the game
Oh this is great, but where is our loadouts for this mode?
So, for like one day when it launches and everyone is bronze it will be like there is no sbmm? Cool.
One more thing that's necessary:
When in higher ranks, the game should find the server in the middle when it matches people on different sides of the Earth so both have close to equal ping.
Better both team to have 100 ping than 1 having 40, and another like 160... for example.
If I'm already getting screwed by EOMM/SBMM, I might as well play the mode that's transparent about it.
As an Overwatch player, I am used to topfragging and then getting placed ridiculously low. I'll fit right in, here :)
Still haven't answered if now they will get rid of sbmm now that they have ranked. One of the reasons people wanted rank was to get rid of sbmm after all
Okay please help me out: what's the point of having only limited game modes and loadout restrictions? I can get the CDL ruleset in CDL since/if the goal is to make it a better spectator sport but why couldn't we play an occasional round of Shoothouse Kill Confirmed with our M4s in ranked?
idk man. kinda rando tbh. removes some enoyement.
Because it provides more skill. Not much skill is needed when you have someone who knows how to play the game run around w akimbos, shotguns, or rpgs.
And flashes were banned today as well. W
Lets goooo.
I have been playing ranked and I actually find it more fun than normal lobbies as the teamates tend to be more capable
It’s almost like one of the dev teams puts real thought and effort into their product whereas another dev team doesn’t…
Could you make a video explaining why the things that are banned, are banned? Some are obvious to me like silencers and thermals with smoke.
But why lasers?
Why some guns?
Getting close to finishing poly camos. This looks like something worth grinding for. Looking forward to it.
So they're just doing the same thing as cod mobile. Almost equal ranked system, which i think it's good. Because it's a good system.
Thanks for your vids. Almost 50 been playing forever but don’t have time to figure out all the info you provide
This is actually great
I pray that SBMM in casual will catch a fat nerf, even though I know it won't.
I've spent most of today playing ranked and they really should have done placement matches. I've seen guys dropping 50 and 60 kills in hard point when the next best has 20. Saw one dude in a final kill cam dropshot 5 different people with a red dot on a sniper.
yeah when games try to make ranked less competitive it tends to screw over average players
Good to hear, as much as I enjoy watching you sweaty content creators and those on that skill level, I don’t enjoy getting mollywhomped every other game. Lemme be mid and enjoy my time while y’all sweat it out in Ranked 😂
Petition to bring back the Exposed maps series
So are they going to remove sbmm? Or are they still denying it’s in the game? Because we’ve technically had ranked play since day one aka sbmm.
This has me excited to play. But I’m working on a cruise ship until May 😢
Can’t wait to get back and grind some ranked, hope it doesn’t suck!
I love how border crossing is not in the map rotation.
4 man parties should be able to play together with any ranks. Just always play against players of the highest member in the party’s rank.
And.... I still have reservations about cheaters on console too. Using high priced hard drives to change the dynamics, in game, behind the scenes. 🤔
We're playing ranked since before warzone came out.
Again, this is my first COD. Heard ranked is usually nice and balanced in terms of matchmaking. Haven't played in awhile so I'm rusty as all hell, perfect time to get back in maybe
Now, if they would turn down SBMM/EBMM, stop disbanding lobbies, and make ping king again, it would make this a dang near perfect implementation.
Sounds good! Good video!
Now we just need a few more maps to play😂
Exactly like it’s really still gonna be boring especially if you solo quening because there’s still no maps on the game
Hi Ace! Can we get a fastest potential ttk list video? Excluding one shot kill weapons of course.
