I just picked up this combo for $139 at Sportsman Warehouse. Feeling much better about it now that I've seen this video. I worried it might not be good enough for my sister-in-law to fish for trout this weekend. Now I'm confident she will be fine. Thank you. 🎣😁👍

I really like the composite plastic/graphite reels. I have top of the line ross/orvis/sage reels and my little redington crosswater reel is fantastic, light, and has excellent drag. If only it wasnt so ugly id fish with it more often.

I started fly fishing last year so I’m starting year 2 and I picked this up from my fly shop. It’s a great entry level rod and reel combo. The only thing I did was change out the fly line to an orvis hydros. The upgraded line probably made a difference but I’m too inexperienced to know the difference. But yeah I love my setup and I’m just waiting for the river to get to a better flow and I can’t wait

I "reeliy" appreciate you talking about this rod & reel for us novices. You explained so much to get me familiar with the mechanics of a rod & reel.

Great video, thanks. I think I might have to pick one up and start my “fly fishing journey,” as you said.

They both are very great combos. You are getting a little more with the XP which is why it is more expensive. The X is a phenomenal combo for the price. It is really up to you if you want to spend the money to go with the XP. The X rod blank is medium fast and the XP blank is fast. So depending on your casting and what you are throwing might determine what you want.

@@REELFLYRODPREMIERFLYSHOP Ok thanks, was reading the reviews for the X and many say that the reel has a sharp spot on it that shreds the line, has Pflueger fixed this yet? Also the XP has a different Pflueger reel so was hopping to not have that problem and would the fly line better quality on the XP?

@@justvettn We have not seen a problem with the x shredding the line having fished it multiple times. Fishing both I did not see a huge difference in the fly line on either one of them. I would recommend getting an upgraded line no matter what if you plan on keeping this outfit for awhile. If it is not your main outfit then I wouldn't worry about it!
