I don't understand John's thought process here Michael said 'they' but John thinks Sasha is a singular female, so why would he assume Michael was talking about Sasha specifically instead of getting paranoid and agonizing over who be they in question could be referring to
Jon isn’t necessarily wrong about Sasha being the least suspicious, at least according to her records, and she probably wouldn’t be after him. Unfortunately the idea of her Not actually being Sasha hasn’t crossed his mind yet, and Not-Sasha’s going to fuck Jon over big time
from what we saw with not-graham, no one noticed him changing apart from his neighbour, so i guess that's to be expected? even though non-sasha sounds quite different from sasha
I FUCKING LOVE the Magnus Archives. The stories are so unsettling and weird. Creepypasta are often boring and unicreative but TMA gives me the heebie-jeebies every time. Rusty Quill is partly responsible for me becoming a writer and publishing a novel. Thank you Rusty Quill!
Random strangers saying something vague and temporarily teleporting people into endless mazes has happened 3 times now, which means its a pattern to look out for.
Warm temperatures in the cafe Flow of people Feeling of loneliness Different types of the same kind of person (anatomy class) Remember loved ones faces ?
Micheal: *warns Jon about Sasha and as weird and unsettling as he (it?) can be, seems like he/it actually wants to help* Jon: Sasha is the least suspicious even though she talks differently, lost tapes, and seems completely unaffected by everything that happened even though she's been attacked by worms. Elias: Hey, Martin and Tim are getting uncomfortable and think you're spying on them Jon: Elias is the MOST suspicious of them all!
Not gonna lie, sasha is obviously NOT sasha, but elias is ALSO suspicious as fuck. Then again this is my first time listening to i might be connecting the wrong dots
I was confused about Jon not realizing that not Sasha is... Not Sasha but then I remembered that these not entities literally ERASE the original person. Nobody (except for somebody who witnessed the overtaking) will remember the original and physical pictures of them will also get changed. No wonder he doesn't realize...
With each episode Jon is descending deeper and deeper into paranoia and I get more worried about him... Also now I have a picture of Gerard Keay in sunglasses on a beach somewhere in Italy with ice cream in one hand and a Leitner book in the other
ur telling me that jon is extremely paranoid n yet he hasn't realised not sasha is not sasha... interesting. i wonder if he'll ever find the tape, now THAT would be interesting. we got to listen to it and this seems to be us as the next archivist/listening from the future so its gotta be recovered somehow
It amuses me on a very sad level that Jon thinks he can't trust any of them, but that NotSasha's the least sus of the bunch. Edit: also, Elias is hiding.... SO much. Just... there's an entire plotline or 3 that he could spill the beans about.
And what if Jon being suspicious and getting crazy is just the fact that he doesn't know what's suspicious, but he feels something is, but the need to *KNOW* is what is driving him crazy, the need to *SEE* .
Oh come now, Jon. The most suspicious thing Elias Bouchard ever did was smoke weed in the no-open-flame institute file rooms. 👀 The guy is completely innocent and deserves better.
So, we've had a couple of episodes now where The Supernatural preys on a character's loves, not their fears- Lost John's Cave, the skydiving episode, Grifters Bone, etc. I love how the character in this story doesn't give up on the thing that brought her joy. At the end of the statement, she's like, yep, still gonna travel! Just maybe with friends. And in the follow-up, she's back to travelling alone. Love it. That's real strength ! Like, NOPE, sorry creepy shit, you're not gonna take my passions away! Badass! This statement giver is based af.
I haven't been listening to these for a while (sorry guys) so this is the first one I've heard for about a month. Needless to say I'll be listening to them a lot more now this one was excellent!!!
Right is Gerard a good guy? He sorta seems chaotic good or chaotic neutral, although he does need some interacting-with-humans lessons, Jon could probably join in on those lessons
It's been a very long time since I've encountered horror that's as genuinely unsettling as this series, and yet after each episode I find myself in the comment section laughing harder than I'd like to admit.
Funnily enough, Jonny Sims has said that he was completely unaware of Gerard Way when he made the character of Gerard Keay. Far as I'm aware, it's just a really crazy coincidence
My theory from this episode and what we know until now: This is definitely relared with the episode "alone". In both cases we have a person who prefers being alone, doesn't really have strong ties with friends or other people, and end up getting "lost" in a place all alone. In this episode, the witness ends up "in a crowd, but still all alone" as she said, and losing herself in that. In both cases, the thought of someone they deeply cared about was what helped them get out of that dimension. And as i said in a previous comment, i believe all dimensions are all in the same place (including the real-life dimension) so once you enter one dimension and start walking in it, when you'll leave you'll be at a different place from where you left the real-life dimension, which explains why she was found somewhere else from where she was last before entering that dimension, and how the same hapenned to the woman from "alone" too. But yeah, ethan was exactly like her, all alone, no real ties with anyone else, so when he was also drawn from that loneliness entity he couldn't get out 'cause, unlike our witness, he didn't know what he needed to do to get out. It seems like some entites only draw in them people who already resonate/sync with them, like the vast sky with the skydiver, and the loneliness with this witness and the other one from "alone" (i'm sure there were other examples until now too but those are the ones who came at the top of my head). As for not!sasha, the change is obvious to us but for the characters it's not. Probably because the not!entity has the power of changing memories and even documents, just like with not!graham where even all the photos of graham were altered to look like not!graham besides the polaroids, which makes me believe that there is something in old machines that the supernatural entities can't fully manipulate as they can with the digital machines (just like John can't use digital means for those recordings and uses this tape recorder instead). That man in the cafe was very likely gerard who could see she was marked, which means that he could see that she was targeted by an entity because she resonated with one of them, so he asked these questions to see with which one. It became pretty obvious pretty fast that the loneliness was the one that synced with her, so he told her to think of the person she has strong ties with, meaning to think of the person that makes her not being alone, thus not being totally synced with the loneliness entity. With all we know for him so far, and what Michael said previously, i believe there is a war between entities or more like the entities are not all in harmony with each other. Some are enemies, some are allies and some are neutral like Michael/spiral entity. Some entities even have cults for them, like the closed eye entity (in the episode with the mass-murderer dad, we learn that the witness's mother was part of a cult with a closed eye as their symbol) and the loneliness entity (in alone we learn that lukas family were very religious family but the son was not which is why he left and had a differemt life from them). Gerard has already killed someone from the fireless fire (or something like that, can't remember if that was its name) (maybe they have a cult too) so we know that the open eye and the fireless fire are not in good terms. The open eye was also called beholding from Gerard (and the nurse from that story started feeling being watched after that incident), which was also used to describe the magnus institute from prentiss, which means that the open eye has some relation with the magnus institute. And because of the letter magnus got before he created the magnus institute, either he created it for the open eye (as in working for it) or because of it (as in after that letter he did some investigation and found out something that lead him to create this institute)
Martin: Worried about Jon Tim: Rattled after a traumatic experience Elias: Trying to pull shit together as his Archivist falls apart. Jon: They are being STRANGE and I CANNOT trust them. "Sasha": Has a complete personality change, suspiciously lost a big piece of evidence and now speaks like a emotionally stunted victorian child. Jon: She has been completely normal and the entity that warned me about her not being normal is obviously LYING to me
Did none of you watch grahams episode? Of course he doesn’t remember the original Sasha, for all he is allowed to remember this is as unsuspicious as she could possibly be.
Rewatching the series here so spoilers: Ah Jon, at his most clueless. This is why he is so drawn to the Eye, and not the Web. He wants all the info on everyone, but has Nooo ability to process that info into any sane conclusion (let alone use/manipulate that info to his advantage). Also just realized the eye covers those insane conspiracy theorists: Wanting all the info (that fits their hair-brain narrative), and accusing everyone of the most extreme things but won't dare to consider the obvious.
The conspiracy theorist point was really interesting, considering that a lot of conspiracy theorists in real life (the ones I’ve come across, anyway) seem to consider an eye as a sign of evil. That is, they’ll see a symbol of an eye and automatically say it’s connected to some secret society trying to take over the world, like the illuminati or freemasons or something. It actually makes a sort of twisted sense that conspiracy theorists would literally fear the eye, even as they seek the knowledge it gives… it’s their form of worship, though they don’t know it.

i actually thought he was referring to the institute aka Elias... welp guess i was wrong
I don't understand John's thought process here
Michael said 'they' but John thinks Sasha is a singular female, so why would he assume Michael was talking about Sasha specifically instead of getting paranoid and agonizing over who be they in question could be referring to
Jon isn’t necessarily wrong about Sasha being the least suspicious, at least according to her records, and she probably wouldn’t be after him.
What I got from the earlier one is that his neighbour only noticed because she was watching him. I guess if they go Not! now, Jon'd probably notice.
I'm pretty sure, I've read it on some site, that there will always be one person who notices the victim's swap with their copy.
@@someone433 in that case, it has to be Elias or Martin. Elias looked at Sasha weirdly and Martin thinks she’s acting weird.

Sasha the least suspicious... oh the irony
the way the outfits are described as being the same but different reminds me of the shapeshifters from the episode abt the medical school?
Really? I thought about the bag of the same tooth for some reason.
medical school? You mean the one with the hearts, right? Sorry, my memory's shit

That's amazing! Congrats on pursuing and achieving that! :D
The best way I've been able to find to describe this series is "It's like creepypasta went and got a degree in literature."

Jon: Sasha is the least suspicious even though she talks differently, lost tapes, and seems completely unaffected by everything that happened even though she's been attacked by worms.
Elias: Hey, Martin and Tim are getting uncomfortable and think you're spying on them
Jon: Elias is the MOST suspicious of them all!
Not gonna lie, sasha is obviously NOT sasha, but elias is ALSO suspicious as fuck. Then again this is my first time listening to i might be connecting the wrong dots

Is Jon's stab wound okay???
...maybe, maybe it was just a flesh wound?

he probably didn't tell anyone about it and just took care of it on his own? when sasha got stabbed by michael she healed up pretty quick

I was confused about Jon not realizing that not Sasha is... Not Sasha but then I remembered that these not entities literally ERASE the original person. Nobody (except for somebody who witnessed the overtaking) will remember the original and physical pictures of them will also get changed. No wonder he doesn't realize...
Keep watching
Michael: it’s Sasha. She’s literally not even Sasha. It’s just some rando
Jon: MMMMMMMMM
Martin?…no, Elias
I REALLY want to know what went through Elias' head at Jon's "Well, I'm sorry you're compelled".

that whole talk w elias was hilarious HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Jon: Sashas the least suspicious
Sasha: LITERALLY ANOTHER PERSON
With each episode Jon is descending deeper and deeper into paranoia and I get more worried about him...
Also now I have a picture of Gerard Keay in sunglasses on a beach somewhere in Italy with ice cream in one hand and a Leitner book in the other
This is my second listen of the series and Gerard is my favorite character. Thank you for gracing me with this image.
i need fanart of this lmao
I like how Jon's takeaway from that intervention is that he should take care not to be spotted in the future
Elias: john your team is worried that you spy on them
John starting his recorder: I have no idea what you are talking about, suspicious person.
Y'know I really hope this podcast doesn't end with Jon being sent to the loony bin because he kind of seems like he's going bonkers insane 😅
That would kinda be funny.
Followed by the new, more skeptical archivist dismissing everything John said 😂

It amuses me on a very sad level that Jon thinks he can't trust any of them, but that NotSasha's the least sus of the bunch.
Edit: also, Elias is hiding.... SO much. Just... there's an entire plotline or 3 that he could spill the beans about.
Poor Jon, he sounds so paranoid and anxious and he really needs some tea and some hugs. Martin! Where art thou?!
And what if Jon being suspicious and getting crazy is just the fact that he doesn't know what's suspicious, but he feels something is, but the need to *KNOW* is what is driving him crazy, the need to *SEE* .

Can't trust the follow up....I think she's dead...
Ooo an alone episode, cool!
Love this comment in combination with your pfp

Gerry is probably one of the true heroes of the show.
It's been a very long time since I've encountered horror that's as genuinely unsettling as this series, and yet after each episode I find myself in the comment section laughing harder than I'd like to admit.
Starting to think that Gerard Keay is loosely based off of Gerard Way lmao
Accurate aesthetic! Just add eye tattoos and grow out the hair a bit, and you’re pretty much golden! 😃 lol
why did i think the same
Funnily enough, Jonny Sims has said that he was completely unaware of Gerard Way when he made the character of Gerard Keay. Far as I'm aware, it's just a really crazy coincidence
Marvelous use of reverse psychology there Michael marvelous indeed!
Jon: I’ve connected the dots
Elias: you didn’t connect shit
Jon: I’ve connected them
My theory from this episode and what we know until now:
This is definitely relared with the episode "alone".

Gerard Keay
Martin: Worried about Jon
Tim: Rattled after a traumatic experience
Elias: Trying to pull shit together as his Archivist falls apart.
Rewatching the series here so spoilers:
Ah Jon, at his most clueless.
It actually makes a sort of twisted sense that conspiracy theorists would literally fear the eye, even as they seek the knowledge it gives… it’s their form of worship, though they don’t know it.
on the warnings bit of the transcript, it lists thalassophobia... this is going to be fun...

Most probably I think Ethan was the "supernatural being" here
Personally I think it was some phenomenon where you would get into the crowd and slowly become assimilated. She started seeing those people, started screaming at them and the description said something about their faces being blurry as if someone recorded them screaming and sped-up their movements. Basically, I think it's about the concept of losing your identity inside the crowd and remembering a loved person was supposed to be like an anchor, something to focus on and help you remain yourself, like those totems from Inceptions if you saw the movie.
