Thanks for not being just another lut-pack selling, self-aggrandizing, gear-flaunting, conflating-vlogs-with-filmmaking type of RUclipsr.
Lolololol!!!!
On point
So true haha...This ones camoflauged himself with peter mckinnon facial hair and hoodie too
Perry Richardnon
Exactly
You make really good videos
Thanks man!
Please keep staying at the subjects that u are banging at. Don't be another "RUclipsr" who just want to sell other peoples products.
Your words and knowledge is so valuable for small filmmakers like myself.
Seconded.
Simon Strandskov i hear you, I never want to become another creator just pushing gear. That said, in order to afford the time away from my filmmaking that these RUclips videos require there is a need to make some sort of income from them or else there isn’t a business model and I cannot sustain this channel.
Waoo deep , Im glad I suscribed to your channel, i have my channel And i am learning how to use my Eos 90D
@@markbone #markboneheadphone!!!!😎
If Mark gets an opportunity to promote a product that he believes in he should do it.
I’ve been shooting professionally for about 10 years and this still helped me. Grabbing a person in the moment is such a good idea
💯
I love your channel so much, everyone is just focusing on gear and random b-roll without context. So happy finally somone adresses that issue
“get into their lives and help make a few things happen so you can tell their story more accurately”. every video is a a mark bone 🦴 masterclass! been practicing a ton of your storytelling tips since you started the channel. congratulations on 100k video views 📈 thank you for all of the things you make + inspire
It is really nice to hear this tips from you. I have being trying to do this by observing movies and aplying what I can in my vlogs. You push me to want to study more and more. Thank you from Brazil :)
Yup. This is filmmaking. No transitions and stuff like that.
You’re THE BEST filmmaking teacher. And you say AND SHOW it in such precise way. THANK YOU.
LOVED discovering your channel Mark! Super refreshing to watch content that supports method and creation. This is getting me excited and has encouraged me really to jump back into dreaming, storytelling and making films! Thank you and keep going friend!
This is the content that I really want to see! Other guys are just zooming around on one wheels and trying to make me buy stuff. Their films don't have any substance. They don't really mean anything, to me, but your content is about how to make engaging films that evoke true emotional response. Thanks for that man! Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for these tips! We are traveling the world by an electric sailboat and clogging the journey.
Sailing is boring so making the video interesting is a huge help to the channel!
Mark I went through that phase lol... Trying to make my vlogs more like movies as I grow. Your tips about asking the subject what they are experiencing and to direct them to do things is so clutch to have in your mind when filming. I'm going to work on those tips. Thanks for this great video. Your kids are great 👍
After having been in the creative camera scene the past few years , i’ve never found someone with videos like yours where i don’t feel like i’m wasting my time watching . it’s just great to watch and learn and i respect everything you have to say and i can tell that you really want to help us. Thank you!!
Markku thank you for this! Made my day
one of my fav video so far mark, cheers!
Love your content, Mark! I'm really glad I found your channel recently. Keep it up!
Thank you!! Glad it can be of some help
Hey Mark!! Thank you for another banger of a video, love your content especially what I learn from it. Can't wait to apply it to some on my short films.
Keep on being you!!!
👍👍
That one simple tip will help me a lot. Talk about what you are doing... Thanks Mark. Love your stuff.
I don’t often comment on videos on RUclips, but you deserve it man. Your content is so valuable and you need to hear this in order to never stop making it :). Your tips are excellent and the examples from your own films make them so clear! Keep it up! You’re really helping us and the business. Cheers from Holland!
Merijn Yestra thank you!! Appreciate you taking the time to let me know ;)
Having your family in here was a sweet touch.
Nick Long 4 kids!! Holy crap
Just found your channel, and I'm blown away by the great advice! Thanks for doing your thing and keep up the great content man!
I really appreciate the depth of your content Mark, thanks so much for this.
Great tips Mark!
I can text or look up something else during most videos about camera gear an so on. But your videos are so packed with new information, that when I (sadly) instinctively check my mobile, I have to rewind or pause.
What I want to say is, that your content is so interesting and I am looking forward to watching your next video
Soooo much value I get from your channel 🙌🏼🔥
It’s hilarious when you do the examples of the fast/disorienting transitions 🤣👍 I started wanting to do more “trendy” transitions and ended up working more on “in camera” transitions. I feel like that’s a better trick to learn than just snipping up footage and confusing the viewer haha
Loving the direction you are going with your content ❤️ looks really like u are listening to your fam 🤙🏻
love that u are bringing in some of the most crucial elements of a story into the game: the premise. explain it in one sentence, as soon as you can do that u have a clear understandable story 🔥 easy as that
I love jumping back to what ever video helps me at the time. You have created such a great resource! THANK YOU!
Awesome channel man, the algorithm has just sent you my way and loving your work. Some really awesome advice and useful tips to take into my film making, appreciate it ✌️
This is gold. Thank you for your videos.
Really useful tips Mark!
These kinds of details are often missed in the 120fps, shallow DOF world we're living in.
Thanks for the tips Mark! and your kids are so sweet!
Knew this was gonna be a great one in the first few minutes. Love your channel and teaching style, subbed. I'm just trying to make films to fit with my original music for my channel but it's amazing how relevant your filmmaking tips are for that. Working in scenes, not shots - so true. It's same in songwriting - you can't just write bars, you have to write songs. Think not just small details but also the bigger structure. Thanks for the tips and your footage looks beautiful also
Love these tips Mark! Thanks for sharing :)
Great content on your Channel, Mark! Thank you ✌🏻
I love this stuff! It really helps even if you sort of know most of it. Reminds you how to think, the process in your head. Lovin it.
love your videos man, Subscribed 👊🏾🔥
No youtuber ever got me sitting and taking notes. You do every time!!
🙏🏻♥️
Beautiful fam dude!! And thanks for the tips! Awesome channel
Dudeee you give amazing tips!!! Will be looking forward to your upcoming videos! I need all the guidance I could get, I'm new to everything
Wow. This is so so good. Just like all the best stuff on YT, it probably won’t get millions of views, but it’s such good information. Probably the best advice I have seen on YT. Thank you!
You´re such a genuine guy! thanks for the tips and all the best!
Great content ! i've been missing this kind of advices and tips that are much more about the craft itself ! thanks ! keep it up !
Thank you!!
Brilliant advice as always, your content is inspiring. Sometimes you have to contrive a scene in order to depict reality.
Jeez man great content. Good, straight to the point, no annoying vlogging bullshit every 20sec. Keep up the good work !
Dude i've commented this on a different video already, but you're putting out such great content and i really think you'll blow up soon. Keep it up!
Great channel Mark! Your channel is very inspiring!
Would be very cool if you will make video some day about the lenses and focal length you use in your films.
Great work man!
I found this really helpful. I never actually understood how to script a doc when you don't know what you're shooting, but I think I'm starting to understand and even getting a better picture of how to do it. Thanks.
Your videos are always helpful. Thank you for taking the time to give us this free information!
I do agree with you. Sometimes you just get incredible shots but no content and after a while it just gets boring. I will study carefully these tips for an upcoming aftermovie video a client asked me.. and I feel that just a series of nice shots that just show what happened during the event is not enough. I need to bring some of the story back even tho is just 1 minute video. Great job, keep it up man
Awesome video again, good tips, thanks again!
this video is so necessary, especially now where the rise of social media 'influencers' are imminent. love your videos, Mark!
You are one of the best doing this. I'm currently upskilling years away from shooting. Your short films on cinematography make all the difference I have learned a new way to think about light and what I am doing. Keep it up !!!
Great Stuff Mark!
Dude so helpful thanks. Lots of helpful stuff here 👌
This is such a valuable information, thank you! there’s too little content about storytelling, and most of it is too vague. This video was so simple yet extremely informative!
Thank you! Good stories make for good films
Man you’re content is so good. I really enjoy watching this kind of content
Lukas Zagurskas thank you!!
Every time I open RUclips, your video is in suggestions and I've watched each and every video of yours for at least 3,4 times. Keep it up mate
Wow! Thanks you Muhammad, this is encouraging
you rock love all your work and help
Amazing video! Some amazing tips that I'm definitely going to be using this week.
Great tips. This was put together very nicely. Good choice to re-film in a quiet place.
I like you man, because you make videos more than just transitions, speed ramps, or whoosh effects. You make vids on REAL tangible filmmaking advice. Cheers man. Road to 100K 📈❤️👊
so so good. speaking truth, thanks mark!
This is a terrific video my dude. Never smashed the subscribe button so fast in my life.
Love your video's
They are fool of aspiration.
Learning alot.
Thanks
Content Gold. No fluff. Straight knowledge. Please don’t change.
Thank you so, so, so much for all your videos! I just began an online film making course, and it's great to learn the technical side, but the storytelling part of that course is one video - a couple of minutes long. Your videos are really helpful!
So glad I can help :)
Just get into filmmaking...your content is so helpful and inspiring. Thanks for these useful tips!
THANK YOU! I've been suffering with this for so long!
very nice video and important information as will . I like your videos man always inspire me thanks a lot ,

Great tips. Thanks!
This is good stuff - I really want to better at telling stories on video and this helped in the right direction.
Great content, so much useful information about real filmmaking! Good luck! :)
Love your channel, Mark. I Will apreciate tips for action/sport films like that Nike commercial. Thanks!
Such a good video! Information I can use RiGHT NOW! Also you are such a Canadian dad! 🇨🇦 Love it! ❤
you're the best, man. quality content. thumbs up!!!
You are what Ive been missing on RUclips. Keep doing this "series"!
Benne will do!
Cool vid Mark. Really solid to get down to the fundamentals of story telling...and to be a human and...skate! Ahh, the romance of it all!
Useful tips. I always struggled how to start with something people can follow. Overview shot is a very great idea.
Aye, thanks Mark. You're are among those great channels who focus on skills, than the gear. Please be the same forever.
Thanks for the tips! Subscribed!
This gold man this works even for films whether short or long
I love these tips. Your channel is single handedly inspiring me to start writing and filming my own cinematic shorts! Also what brought you to NC? I am based in NC... i love our forests and trails. LOVE IT!
Anson & Co. amazing! Can’t wait to see the film. I have family in NC
MARK I CAN´T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR YOUR TIPS AND KNOWLEDGE!!
Greetings from Germany
Hope you and your family are well and safe!
Cheers
Great video! Very inspiring. I really appreciate that you took the time to reshoot it in a more quiet environment. Nice touch with the “get someone to tell what’s going on” scenes in the end segment. ( missed the establishing shot though ;) )
This is fantastic, thank you so much. I am learning a lot from your videos. I am getting ready to shoot my first documentary. I don't have the best gear but we have to start somewhere. I have experience in editing but not so much in filming so it should be interesting. I do know from watching your videos that it would have been a complete train wreck without the knowledge I am gaining from your channel. Thank you for what you are doing.
Nice work on the video. You've got a new subscriber. Would love to see more about storytelling and breakdowns while planning a video.
This the Golden Channel in RUclips.
Thank You,
Mark
For all your tips
You’re welcome! My pleasure :)
Man! You are amazing! Thanks for knowledge ˆ_ˆ
Thanks for the great advice, exactly what I'm looking for. As for skating, our #1 trick in Minnesota is to have them push a (lightweight) chair around the rink!
I’m a beginner and am so looking forward to seeing more of your videos to help me become a videographer 😊
There are three things I did after watching this guide: hit the like button. Subscribed. Hit that bell for any notification. Thanks to you, I felt myself motivated like never before.
Thanks brother!!!!
