Something that I don’t think a lot of people notice when playing these games is that sometimes people can hear phoenix’s internal dialogue, and will respond to it, which means that his “internal” dialogue isn’t always just his thoughts, more like him muttering to himself. If that’s the case, then who knows? Maybe edgeworth did hear Phoenix

They are each other's best ally and friend in the world. Both of them wouldn't have gotten where they are now without each other. The love is real! I don't care if it will remain platonic or not(i doubt it, but i'm an undying shipper), but one can't simply ignore the beauty of their relationship!
this is my favourite genre of ship, when they undeniably love each other so deeply that you don't even need to headcanon them being in a romantic relationship because the canon has already hit all the emotional depths without romance being involved (i've only encountered two such ships, the other one is jayvik from arcane)

I love that Phoenix takes lots of little steps towards the Edgeworth. Like he’s a deer that’s easy to scare with prospects of physical intimacy. Phoenix seems like the kind of person to communicate comfort with physical touch to me, and is aware that he has to be careful about it when initiating it with Edgeworth. It makes me sob profusely. He wanted to touch Edgeworth immediately but thought better of it.

Friends are there for you in your most vulnerable of times. It's no secret that Edgeworth is haunted by that day so much despite his calm demeanor. I like how in the anime, it fleshed out Phoenix, Larry, and Miles' friendship, especially on that day when Miles had to leave his home after his father's death. I really wish the anime had kept his fear of earthquakes.

@@Y-E-R-I yeah, but all the things in this animatic that really mattered and helped comfort Miles were only in Phoenix's head in canon. by "dealing with it on an emotional level" we mean showing Miles actually open up about his trauma and have someone be there for him. and this is like, *almost there*, spiky boi should have just said that one line out loud and actually acted on that urge to hug him. one of the main themes of the trilogy is Phoenix saving Miles anyway, but for a storyline centered around such an intense relationship they show the actual relationship awfully rarely, the most we got was one of them calling the other "dear and indispensable friend" and even that wasn't to his face...

right i missed that so much from the games! like, they went *there* with goodbyes, the entire case was just a trauma dump about Miles' life... and then they just left it at that :/ c'mon capcom you can't give us a mentally scarred character and a guy whose entire storyline is "saving" said mentally scarred character and NOT give us at least one real good hurt/comfort scene like this.

@@Y-E-R-I yeah, but all the things in this animatic that really mattered and helped comfort Miles were only in Phoenix's head in canon. by "dealing with it on an emotional level" we mean showing Miles actually open up about his trauma and have someone be there for him. and this is like, *almost there*, spiky boi should have just said that one line out loud and actually acted on that urge to hug him. one of the main themes of the trilogy is Phoenix saving Miles anyway, but for a storyline centered around such an intense relationship they show the actual relationship awfully rarely, the most we got was one of them calling the other "dear and indispensable friend" and even that wasn't to his face...

To be honest, I don't ship Phoenix and Edgeworth, I feel like they're just friends since childhood and it's a nice relationship (although I understand why they ship them). But outside of ships and all, This animation is beautiful and shows the great affection that both have as friends for years. Phoenix and Edgeworth's friendship is beautiful
