If you happen you overclock 2 on en emulator at 200% to avoid any lag
When you start at Mission 5 and 6 that's where the difficulty starts to bend, its like the game literally wants to kill you (most noticeable if you play on level 8)
Mission 5 can get annoying at times but its alright if you ignore the secrets
Mission 6 is where the developers really hate you, once you reach the bridge and allen its shear dumb luck, UFO's that take 1 slug cannon to explode and lasers that move faster than your movement
In the anthology version its been overclocked to like 150% so there's only a little bit of slowdown
Overall 2 is still a good MS game, I've never had an issue with the slowdown plus it makes it easier to 1cc that way but again id it bothers you then the revamped metal slug X should remedy that
X is the more balanced version while also using the same game engine in 3 hence the announcer and more arsenal
Plus it fixes all the issues present in mission 5 and 6

Is the lag bad like the Anthology?

no brother its better and smooth

I thought I read somewhere the Anthology was literally less laggy than others because it was set for the emulated clock to be 1.5x and the lag was part of the game's engine. I don't know how this version would be better and smooth when this reviewer says the lag is the biggest problem in this and all releases.

@@hoopmooy3543 Input lag and "Game lag" or Slowdown are not the same thing.
Input lag = How long it takes for the game to react to your button press - What the anthology suffers from
"Game lag" = Just mean frame drops aka Slowdown - What this version (ACA NEOGEO) suffers from

@@SimpleSlave so, which versión do you recommend?

    • @SimpleSlave

@@tonysoad05 Get this one, the ACA version, as it seems to be faithful to the original Arcade game. The original Arcade game also had all the game slowdown or lag if you will.
The Anthology input lag will make you hate the game, life and everything in between. Input lag is the worst thing for games and not how the Arcade game was designed. Having to wait after pressing a button is one of the biggest no-no in gaming.
Of course, I still suggest you do more research just to help with your decision. 👍
