Maester Aemon's speech about love vs duty remains one of the best written dialogues that got imported into the show. Fantastic delivery by Peter Vaughan (RIP).
The deaths of Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark was foreshadowed in episode 1 when the starks uncovered a dead stag and dead direwolf.
The philosophy of Game of Thrones: No good deed goes unpunished.
T'is life.
being good has consequences
doing bad has repricussions
Not necessarily. The show's thing was more that it didn't cheat to help the good guys. Eddard miscalculated.
More like your fate is a result of your mistakes and actions, both good and bad. Ned Stark ignored the threats from Cersei and the advice of those more attuned to the realities of Kings landing.
Not really. More like, “nobody is immune to the consequences of their actions”
"I learned how to die a long time ago." Damn, dude, that gets me every time.
"cersei didnt even want ned stark dead
she was with sansa saying no stop.." 😅
hey this is maybe cringe to offer, but if you like that line you may enjoy an anime called "Vinland Saga" 👍
A point to remember. Ned keeps the Old Gods. He swore that Joffrey was King by the new God's, a religion he doesn't believe in.
That never caught my attention. Good spot.
nice! f**k I've watched it a gazillion times and that never crossed my mind!
Great catch. Over and over, the characters have sworn "by the old gods and new," but this may the only time in the whole show where this particular oath is made.
Nah, he said 'by the grace of ALL Gods'... pretty clear cut if you ask me.
@@SerbAtheist yeah, I never understand why people say that because it's crystal clear what he says..like zero doubt, so it's such a weird comment to me. I've seen it said on so many reactions.
I like that you're paying attention instead of just talking over everything. Too many just talk the whole time. I appreciate it. Your going to enjoy the next six seasons.
Or the opposite, people who upload reaction videos where they have no reaction and nothing original to add lol
The next 5 seasons....7 and 8 were both trash
Maybe not the last season 😠
It's not like the 7th was much better. But every seasons had a lot of great moment but as you approach the end it gets increasingly worse. In my opinion seasons 3 and 4 was peak GoT.
That’s why she’s my favorite lol, not constantly yapping and making bad jokes over the answers to their constant out loud question asking
Stef was so bubbly, excited, cheerful and full of life during her intro for this episode... aaaand that's all gone ;)
A sweet summer child.
Yes let the pain, suffering and heartbreak finally begin !!
Let’s goooooooooooo
Indeed!
I am frothing for a S3 Ep 9 reaction when she gets there ;)
@@mattc6056dont mention it too much or it will be obvious while watching
@@mattc6056the Red Wedding, which is what everyone is most waiting for
Annnnd, the baptism is complete. This won't be the last time you say you hate us. So much blood yet to be spilled. Can't wait for you to see it all!
Spoiler, no?
@@ShiNSpectreGt - Well, no only because it only implies that people will die in the upcoming episodes. Not specifying which episodes or who or why or when. I think it's pretty well established by this point that it's a bloody show.
You may not notice, but the sword that was used to cut Ned's head is huge. It's his own sword, the same one he used in the first episode to execute the deserter. It's called Ice, it belongs to Stark family to many centuries. Of course, it's a Valyrian steel. Valyrian steel swords are very rare. There was another one in this episode, the one that Lord Mormont gave to Jon for saving his life. It's a huge gift. There are many families in Westeros, who are rich, but don't have such sword. And the ones who have, keep them as much as they can. So here Ice was taken from Starks and used to kill one of their own.
This will always be a landmark moment in TV history. I'd never read the books and was completely shocked watching this episode. Unfortunately some other big moments in later seasons were spoiled for me so they weren't as shocking - but this truly is a moment I'll forever remember. Please be careful of spoilers in the comments - as there's some moments throughout the show that deserve to be unspoiled.
One does not simply walk into Season 2.
Two of his best roles if you ask me, both ended really early on but went out with such a bang that nobody forgets.
bravo
This is a masterful comment.
The happiness/ relief of Jaime’s capture followed so quickly by that final scene- gets me every time
You are now officially watching GoT, my sweet summer child.
The first ep ended with the attempted murder of a child!
@@cshubs But, did they succeed?
@@cshubs
Don't upset the folks that just want to keep using that stupid nickname halfway through the show.
@@placebo5466 We didn't know when the ep ended.
No kidding. It gets dragged out like clockwork 1 or 2 episodes a season.
It's always nice seeing your dog in the background.
AS is said, "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."
to be fair, Varys is one of the few in high position that actually thinks about the realm, whats better for the population as a whole
Dont apologize for talking it all out at the end! I love seeing you work through it in your head but out loud haha. There is a TON to this show and you are understanding it just fine and on par with how most people were their first time watching the show, I am sure!
Even Stef's dog knew making a deal with frey was a bad idea! 😂
"Is there anythings so undoing as a daughter" -Silco, Arcane season 1
The moment Ned lost his head, the world knew, this is not your typical tv show 😄When i first watched it, i was like ''nah you can't kill the main character in Season 1'', well well....
Let's not lose our heads over that ending
NOW the show can begin😊
Unrelated to the video I was scrolling through tiktok and went "oh that looks like Stef solari, oh it is her". I didn't know you are so popular on tiktok
Robb, making the deal with Walder Frey:
"Then I consent!"
Dog: "Oh no." * leaves the room*
A lot of weddings planned, “that’s going to be great when the time comes”… 😂
For those that hadn't read the books, when this episode first aired it was a real shock. Sean Bean was the biggest star in a series comprised of a relatively unknown cast for the most part when GOT started; and even though he had a reputation of dying in a lot of his movies, I don't think anyone expected a series to kill off their most recognisable actor in the first season...
It goes downhill from here haha, no spoilers but don't get too emotionally attached to any characters 😉
Looking forward to seeing you watch the rest of the series!
One of the best aspects of GoT is how connected the viewer gets to many of the characters. Invest yourself in them. Relish the emotional range that the storyline and character arcs offer. It's OK to cry, laugh and exalt. One needs to understand pain to appreciate happiness. Loved this show for breaking the mold. Even when you begin to expect the unexpected, it can surprise you.
talking about the ending, it went literally downhill lol
Yeah, it's totally the times. Good thing we live today, where nobody's forced into anything they don't want to do and the powerful never get to ignore the rules when it suits them.
Drogo’s wound is massively infected.
Heya Stef, welcome to the show!
Just about everyone, when Ned was up there, on the headsmans block... was going "Wait, how are they gonna rescue him? How's he gonna get out of this?"... we were ALL just as shocked when Ser Illyn's sword fell. That's REALLY when we knew that this show was different, and that NO ONE was safe! Just keep watching.... you have no idea the highs and lows this show will take you to... :-)
I'm still traumatized by this show. Any time any show focuses on a character now I think they are about to die.
To add extra frustration - Cersei could have stopped the execution if she had just remembered that she was Queen Regent and could order Ser Ilyn not to kill Ned.
He _could have been saved._ Someone in that scene had the power to save him and didn't want him dead. She just didn't use it. Did she forget she'd been given the power to rule for Joffrey and _outranks_ him until he's a legal adult, or was she just so unwilling to let anyone discipline her son in any way that she let him fuck over the realm on a whim? Either way, nice going, Cersei. You had _one job._
Stef I told you to not get attached to anyone after the first episode 😂❤
We need 2 episodes every day !! 😁😁😁
Oh Stef theres a reason this show won soooo many awards. Your adventure is only just beginning. I have watched this show 3 times for a reason. I know that by the end there will be no emotion you will not have experienced.
It's the line, "I learned how to die a long time ago.". That happened
The era of king Joffrey has begun! Muhahaha
They literally give you a map in the opening credits of every episode
About Khal Drogo: yes the infection is enough, sepsis is still very dangerous; also in our time people still die from it.
Regarding the blood magic: I think we, as viewers were anxious when Jorah entered the tent with Daenarys, because the witch said not to enter the tent.
This show is very hard for those (most of us) with a strong sense for justice and it is not wrong to be a "summer child".
I also thought perhaps the blade that cut Drogo may have been coated in something. Poison, or something that would make it much worse. But yeah, if Drogo had the cut cleaned like the witch had said, he may have lived... But then arguably no Dragons either.
@@CrazeeAdam the witch is a witch(and she knows everything has a price.)
If an infection gets in your blood stream, it’s almost always fatal without treatment. I had to have emergency surgery when I was a baby because I had an ear infection that went blood bound. If my mom didn’t suspect something was wrong, it would’ve only take 3 days to kill me. Infection is a veerrrry dangerous thing.
No one is safe, absolutely no one. As it is in life.
At the end ned looked for Aria. I think he was relieved that she didn't have to witness his execution.
Looking forward to the next!
Keep up the epic work 🤩
Welcome to the roller coaster. Keep your arms and hands inside at all times. There will be lower lows and the highest highs and it will all end with a fizzle.
Ned’s execution always hits deep
always nice to see you Stef ☺️
alistar was supposed to bring the wight's hand at joffrey's feet to show him the severity of the problem at the wall.. but they never followed up on it in the show. Based on the 2nd book Alistar arrives at king's landing and demanded to see the king, but he was refused by Tyrion who remembered him as someone who torments new recruits, as ''punishment'', he waited so long that by the time tyrion allowed him to meet joffrey, the skin had fallen and was only bones, less frightning. But he was given some prisoners from the red keep to bring to the wall.
It's official after this episode, Welcome to Game of Thrones, no one is safe and no one can protect anyone
~ The North Remembers
The honorable died as a traitor
This is just the beginning of everything
In the book you see shadows of the creatures/demons dancing and moving about through the canvas of the tent
... And thus starts the game of thrones, this beheading leads a crescendo of agony and triumph into an epic tale unlike I've ever seen in television history. I remember how much anger I felt watching this, Ned Start was a good man probably one of the best men in n the realm. As hurtful as it feels now, we must watch all the seasons to the end to do this show justice. Great reactions! Stef.. Love it..
I just want to point out episode one's foreshadowing - dead direwolf and dead stag an the 5 pups, the idea that Ned's mercy for Cercei caused Robert Baratheon's death and Joffrey Baratheon killed Ned stark or ordered it at least
Knew we were in for a treat as soon as you said "i dont want the starks to die" 1645 previous episode.
So much going on in this episode. It's a comparatively small thing, but when Jorah kills that Dothraki warrior, we see for the first time that Jorah is no one to be trifled with. Danaerys, Arya, and Jorah are marvelous characters.
The face of disbelief. 👀😁
Oh and you don't need to excuse for not coming up with the word you are looking for. 🤷♂
Keep watching. It gets better. But also gets worse. Then better. Then worse again. Then so awesome. . It's worth it . We will be here with you
Such a stellar reaction!
As others have probably said, this is when you are really in the game of thrones (song of ice and fire) world. Up until this point in the series/before the end of the first book, the world building and intrigue is quite good but nothing that hasn't been done before really. However the killing off of a main character is when you realize you've entered a very different fantasy world. It's only just begun!
Your stammering is completely justified. I think we were all doing the same when this episode aired.
There will be more. Dear lord, there will be more. Many times you won't have words, and other times you'll find words, but they'll all have to be ******** bleeped.
The Maegi told everyone to stay out of the tent but Jorah is bringing Daenerys inside in the middle the ritual.
Maybe the spirit of the dying horse will go into the child and that is how it will become "the stallion who mounts the world".
It will be the first Dothraki to eat grass ;)
In the real world, there isn't always a happy ending. The good guys do not always win. This is why you see it on the silver screen all the time.
To escape reality, which is what the silver screen is for.
There is a very good reason why Varys wants Ned to admit to his "treason", declare Joffrey the rightful king and command Robb to cease the advance of the Northern armies -- because he knows a massive war will lead to untold suffering for thousands of people who have no stake in this conflict. That's why he says he serves "The Realm". He means the people (called The Small Folk by the people in power) of Westeros who will die in the fighting. Whose farms will burn and whose families will starve. While Varys may work with people who live in castles, his origins were among the workaday people in the streets and fields
And so it begins...
It is incredibly hard to be a good person in this world and survive. You either die, or change and become more grey in almost all accounts. Ned didn't want to confess to live even, but to protect his children mainly. :(
22:57 sometimes in your life you just look at the pigions.
You want to be one of them.
Fly away from somewhere far away.
To get rid of that heavy pain in your chest that you can breathe peacefully.
Welcome to GoT Stef. In this show, anyone can be killed. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! And as there are episodes that will bring you great grief, there are episodes that will bring great elation as well.
This episode changed how TV is done forever
We have been shown the true character of Ned Stark. As the show progresses, you will look back and remember him and see how much of an impact he had on many characters, his family, and others that hold grudges. Ned's death was the match for the powder keg of the games of power to come as the story continues...
No one is safe in the GOT.
Maps available online or for purchase and contain no spoilers. (Doesn't show that much detail overall, but it does show all the main places).
I'm sure many have said this, oh sweet Summer child....... welcome to Game of Thrones.
Does anyone remember what season is that wedding in?
OH SWEET SUMMER CHILD!
George R.R. Martin: "You're tears are delicious."
*piroettes away*
"You think my life is some precious thing to me? That I would trade my honour for a few more years of...of what?
You grew up with actors, you learned their craft and you learnt it well
But I grew up with soldiers
i learned how to die a long time ago." - Ned Stark
best shit ive ever heard
Behold, the fate of the honorable man in a 'real' world of our creation.
Much like real life, people forget or don't care.
Aemon is a relic from a different Westeros.
Welcome to where the show really starts!
@Stef
Welcome to GoT. It's some of the very best TV made to date. The most important rule is to not get attached to people, always suspect a sudden and violent death lurking around the corner lol. And now that you've coming to the end of season one, the gloves are coming off, shit is about to get crazy lol
Oh and for future reference, be wary of the episode 9s, those are the ones that often scar you for years to come. 😂
It's all fun though GoT is a wild ride so just enjoy it.
Great vid though, the hope in your teary anime eyes just before the end was really beautiful. 😊
When watching GOT for the first time there comes a point where you realize this series is different most other series. You just reached that point in this episode as many of us had as well. Enjoy the ride and I'll enjoy watching you enjoy the ride..
Yeees, great Episode and reaction, parabéns Stef! 🇧🇷
And so it begins. Buckle up!
Reminder: there is IMDB and you can see all the names there. Take note of the most important ones.
You really should read they are so much more complex and detailed than any show could ever be
Any trace of innocence will be gone by the time you finish this show.
Which is a shame... I rather love that lil trace of innocence you have on your smile.
You need to watch the Histories and Lore for season 1 after the next episode. It will explain so much and really sets up the world nicely for you.
Oh sweet Stef, this is only the beginning😅
Talking is the best part of a reaction video. Its what we come for. Otherwise we'd just watch the show haha. You have good reactions and good insights. Honestly some people just watch the show and call it a reaction video when they didn't react lol. Please talk as much as you need. It keeps it interesting.
She does the perfect amount of talking, people also react non-verbally. I can’t stand when reactors are constantly yapping and making bad jokes, asking a thousand questions out loud and often talking over the very answers they seek.
Oh, and don't change anything about how you react. It's what we come for.
The khal didn't die from blood loss. He died because the wound got infected, and it went septic.
Imo the blade that cut Drogo, was probably poisoned or something? He also got an infection most likely.a bad one. Causing his downfall
Ah the infamous cursed 09
23:11 Congrats on your baptism.
Been waiting for this one.... at least one of many
I love your outro music. What is it?
This is NOT a spoiler. The story Tyrion tells about the girl he saves in the books has a twist that the show doesn't reveal. Tyrion doesn't know at this point, but the girl he saved wasn't a prostitute and the whole scene wasn't staged. This girl was the only girl who didn't actually sleep with him for the money. His brother (Jaime), tells him the truth at some point in the future.. His father (Tywin Lannister) is behind the deception and the girl is forced to sleep with all these men! (sorry for my English)
So it begins
Hehehehe Stef, buy some Kleenex and keep them close you are going to need them from now on. And don't underestimate the Spider ... that man is clever and the actor playing him is simply amazing.
Nice reaction!
Steph I was away from your channel for a while but I’m back for this series lol
No one is safe in GoT, even so-called ‘main characters’ 😂
Oh My Miss Stef this one will be Brutal indeed 😊 like button ✅ has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎
Ugh, these GoT reactions of yours are golden!
Your first time watching game of thrones?! Your so lucky!
