The women in Nixon's life - his mother and his wife - clearly were a huge influence and comfort for him. His sobbing grief at the funeral of Pat Nixon was very obvious.
@wilhelmvg9978 I wouldn't doubt it, politics will drive a person insane and especially as far as president's go many of them have described it as lonely and depressing. At least once you leave office it's not your problem anymore.
I think Nixon fell to the same forces that hounded Trump and Reagan. He was on to the secret societies and swamp creatures and they rallied to cast him out.@@elizajayne2888
Nixon had this disturbing ability to be such a lying scoundrel and crook. And then at the same time, have these beautiful and profound sentiments. Such a complicated man, but I love this speech
He was basically a real life two face, I think very deep down he wasn’t that bad, but he expierienced so much damn hate he decided not to ignore it and instead deflect it back
Mother of God and Virgin, rejoice! Hail Mary, full of Grace, the LORD is with Thee. Blessed art Thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, for Thou hast given birth to the SAVIOUR of our souls...
Nixon wasn’t a bad President. In fact he’s easily one of the better policy Presidents, and maybe the most intellectual on foreign policy that there’s ever been. He gets judged for one thing, when other Presidents have done MUCH worse.
Had Nixon been rated based on his achievements alone (like the opening to China, establishment of the EPA, lowering the voting age to 18,......), he would've been ranked as among the great presidents of the 20th century, right up there with FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and Truman. Unfortunately, because of Watergate, he doesn't even rank as average. According to C-SPAN Presidential Survey conducted last year, even his successor, Jerry Ford, scored higher in the overall rankings despite being in office for just under 2 1/2 years.
I feel very sad for him and this country still. I saw this live and this is still very painful. He did much of this damage to himself, reaching and coveting power. Tragic.

Watergate
I hope both he and his mother found peace.
He seemingly did if you study his post-presidency years. Probably the happiest he ever got to be.

Anyone who has read into Nixon will know that he may be the most intelligent president of all time, dubious morality but insanely smart.

So are media’s troupes..

There is certainty some contenders. LBJ was a deeply intelligent man.
A man honouring his mother. Nixon was a true patriotic American and a good man.
I still say Nixon was a good man...
100% correct. A flawed good man.
He wasn’t
It's 2024 and I have tears everytime I hear him say this
May god bless my mother.

It's just being human. Everyone has good and bad
Modern politicians are much better at doing much worse things than Nixon ever did. We were a more innocent nation in 1974 than we are now.
Meh, no more a lying scoundrel and crook than most of the men who've held office since he left.
@@zufgh less so than most modern politicians.
Politics shmolitics, Nixon had a heart that we all should stare into. God bless America

nixon was a great president he was just a little too rough int he ways he went ab getting shit done and possibly fucking the dems over
Watergate is easily one of the most overblown political scandals in recent history

God know how to bring down the powerful
Love Nixon! Wonderful man and great president notwithstanding some terrible decisions
So this is where Dr Zoidberg got his reference from
Zoidberg : "What?! my mother was a saint."
No, that was just a common saying. Watch less TV
Why did he say mother like an old Englishman
because he was crying
