I just noticed how beautiful the wood is on your companionway cover slats (and all the exterior wood!). Do you have a "formula" for getting old tired teak to look like your beautiful rich teak?
I have owned this boat for 32 years, the wood was some new and I have keep it looking new all these years. Covering it with canvas has helped big time over the last couple years!
For the companionway cover, are the battens (or the middle batten) designed to engage in the groove of the fixed companionway molding or do they stay proud of and across the outside edge of the fixed companionway molding?
The batten at the very bottom is large and heavy so it keeps the canvas stretched vertical. The small center batten resting on the companionway frame keeps the cloth from being pushed inward by wind or water.
I do not like the Tiller Tamer, problem is on a Cat 22 with the weather helm this unit can not handle it. I recommend a tiller lock mounted on the bottom of the tiller where one can use one finger to engage and disengage when needed.
