  • Carl Gustav Jung, the father of analytical psychology was one of the most influential psychologists of all time.
Throughout his life, Jung formulated numerous groundbreaking psychological concepts that have left an indelible mark on the field.
Among these are synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, psychological complexes, the personality traits of extraversion and introversion, and the process of individuation.
The son of a protestant, who refused to adhere completely to any religious doctrine, Jung studied throughout his life various religious traditions, including Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Gnosticism, as well as esoteric traditions like Alchemy and Astrology.
But what inspired Jung to dedicate his entire life to this field and most importantly what gave birth to his profound fascination with alchemy and the esoteric arts? Was Carl Jung a Freemason?

From what I know about Jung is not that he only dabbled in Alchemy and Freemasonry, he was heavily interested in the occult and esoteric teachings. Supposedly a lot of his ideas came through communication with certain entitites. I don't know what was his method for establishing that communication, but Jung was for sure more of an occultist and a magician than a scientist and a researcher.

There is without a doubt that Jung was heavily versed in occult and kabbalistic texts and ways of thinking . From his knowledge of nuanced kabbalistic and Hebrew terminology and context , in particular in his later life his visions of the garden of pomegranates as mentioned in “The Red Book” . Or his very apparent knowledge of alchemical and hermetic concepts and his seamless integration of them into modern psychology . Just the way his brain formed ideas screams familiarity with the occult , the spirit world and the shadow of self. That he has family lines to secret societies only provide further evidences and correlations. Whatever one may feel about secret societies and their checkered and shrouded history Carl Jung definitely left an amazing impression and impact on the modern psychological world view and is a direct source from the mainstream world directly into the shadow world of the deeper archetypes of the soul and shadow into the collective unconscious and I can only tip my hat to that

This is why Freemasons have a compass and a square (two dimensional representation of a pyramid) and the Washington Monument is a 555 ft tall Obelisk in honor of the master mason. The Statue of Liberty (actually a statue of Isis) is famously designed by the two Masons Bartholdi and Eiffel (the Eiffel Tower another takeoff of pyramidal design which stands in the city of Paris which means For Isis). The statue is a monument of the victory of the Templar Masons (NWO colonist leadership-see Washington obelisk) over the Monarchy in England (old world order). There were only a select amount of people who actually succeeded in the creation of the philosopher's stone, and even then we don't know for sure if they really did. This is because to achieve the creation of the stone you have to go through immense spiritual journeying, torture and ego dissolution, and even then it may not be enough if your intent is even slightly ill. For this reason alchemy rejects power-grabbing, and nurtures enlightenment and ascension.

Such a relief to the soul to come across an intelligent channel! When the more intelligent class of men, even in this dark age assemble together, we can only pray that their works are for the benefit of the soul, individual and collective. In recent years we might conclude that this is no longer the case and the so-called intelligent class of men have degraded to the lower realms. We can understand, however, that Carl Jung, coming from a strong ancestral line in his time, would have certainly had the association of Masons and possibly other secret society members as his influences and confidantes. Whether he was an active member doesn't seem to be so important I feel and possibly he even maintained a respectful distance. Whatever is the case, my feeling is that he perfected his life opportunity by surrendering to the work, for the benefit of those who find the strength within themselves to access it. God is great! Let us all awaken!

I think Jung's philosophy touches on a lot of occult ideas which most philosophers and scientists try to avoid, from the arrogant idea that man is all there is and it's all a coincidence. This makes his ideas feel timeless and intuitively correct, either he got those ideas from somewhere or straight from the source.

Jung was adamant that his work was for academics and could not be simplified into a book for the masses. Despite the overwhelming response after he appeared on The TV programme Face to Face with John Freeman he continued to say his life work was over. But then he had dream where he was standing in the market place talking to a large crowd. He knew then it was time for him to reach out to the ordinary folk. Another book I love is The Undiscovered Self which is also very readable. It discusses the importance of striving for our individuality as that is the only way to overcome the forces of tyranical collectivism.

Some of Jung's thoughts seem to be very subjective and personal ways to structure the themes of the conscious mind/body/soul, but his understanding of duality/union/non-duality and such are awesome. Portrayed in clunky math poetry, 0 and infinity are the same entity, the paradoxical union of opposites that is necessary and embedded in life's evolution. Being able to stay respected in the harsh academic lens of the Scientific community while also addressing mythology religion and self-realization was an incredible feat. Thank you Dr. Jung.

Psychology includes esoteric symbols and how they interact with our unconscious. Occult traditions are the first steps into depth psychology for humanity.
Jung is one of my favorite humans. I wish there were more of him speaking online.

Archetypes are from tarot/Kabbalah, another mystery school, and you cited Rosicrucianism, a 3rd one. And free masons a 4th one. Synchronicities. Collective unconscious (his term for Christ consciousness) etc,,,,loved the video! ! :)

Thank you. As a student of Jungian thought and a Freemason, I have often been perplexed why Jungian scholars have not given more attention to the relationship between Jung’s psychology and the Craft. If you decide to expand upon this work, I suggest that you might want to explore the parallels between the Masonic symbolism of the pillars and Jung’s concept of holding the tension between the opposites. The three degree structure of becoming a Master Mason can also be seen to correspond to the principal stages of alchemical transformation. The Masonic symbol of the Winding Stairs could be see as an image of Jung’s concept’s of integration and individuation. Whether there is a direct lineal connection between the Craft and Jung or not, the similarities appear to give some credence to Jung’s postulation of a collective unconscious.

just because he was influenced by it in his thought doesn't mean he was a practicing freemason. Jung avoided involving himself too deeply with the topics he researched and mainly just observed and analyzed. This is because he wanted to be as objective/unbiased and empirical as possible when researching various different spiritual practices and schools of thought.

A lot of his ideas came from the east as you mentioned. The secret of the golden flower sheds a lot of light on this, currently working through it myself. Its on youtube in audiobook form. It mentions for example the circling of the light, the light is always moving and impossible to fix, by circling you can get a sort of fix on it.

Thank you for this great and informative video.
I believe that he was in connection with the great Unknown, in a deep and conscious way. This is the key in my opinion.
Him being influenced or not by any body of work, is not that relevant.
Influence of The Great Work over a man that lacks depth in his inner life, to sustain and use that influence, means little to nothing.

It has been my direct experience that exposure to archetypal symbols in a variety of ways, including visual representations, smells, and movements achieve the psychic integration, the union of opposites, that was Jung's goal. The occult experience, especially the taking of regular initiation in magical orders, is an excellent way to work the kind of spiritual program envisioned by Jung.

@@euchamomeantonio I'm referring to the development of self awareness and a continual consciousness of a transcendent state of being that coalesced over decades of practice and experience. The symbols lead to visions which lead to transcendent states of consciousness. These states develop over a long period of time until gnosis, direct experience of the human collective divine consciousness, is achieved. You can read my book, "Enochian Initiation," for examples of visions inspired by magical archetypes and symbols.
