What's up Richard!? Good to see another video out🎉. Just want to thank you for your teachings sir. Started a few dragonfruit plants and have been following your instructions. It's coming along nicely, thank you. 🤙 aloha brah.
Richard - just discovered your channel and it has inspired me to order my first Dragon Fruit plant. I am in upstate New York so for most of the year the plant will be indoors. Do you have any tips? I am not sure where you live but from the looks of your garden it seems like you're in a tropical area with ample sunlight year round.
Richard I love your videos I have learned so much from you. I wish you would make more because each time you do I learn a little more. I am a member of your FB group and one of your subscribers here. I would like to ask if you ever sell any of your cuttings of the ones that you named? I would be so honored if I could buy a couple of your cuttings. I live in Florida. so, I know they would have to be shipped. Please let me know. Thank you so much for the joy you have brought into this old Ladys life with the dragon fruit. Keep the videos coming please. Thank you again.
Hi Richard, I have learned a lot from watching your videos. I will definitely try the Nova Flora to push a grow on my young cuttings.( been on a pot for 8 months)I hope to have fruit this year. Do you have a waiting list for the Sunrise Dragon fruit? Can you please let me know. Thank you Richard😊
Hi Richard, Nice video. How long this fruit will be fresh after harvesting? How long this fruit can stay healthy on plant even though it ready for harvesting? Can you please share temperature tolerance details?
I usually take a little break during winter because the dragons hibernate and and post taste reviews during off season. I’ll be full on back this close to summer!
Hi Richard, I have been enjoying watching your videos for some time now. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. . I had a thought about storing the dragon fruits in the refrigerator while waiting to do a multiple tasting.. I looked up fruit storage and seems to be around 50 -54F lets say for a watermelon /melons. Other fruit storage Apple/Pear does suggest the lower temps32-37F in the refrigerator 37 F. I saw a paper on fig storage at 6C/42F in a film wrapping was best. Also, a wine refrigerator is 55 - 59 °F (12 - 15 °C) and 55 - 75% humidity. Have you tried a different storage temp solution/ comparison or a semi vacuum seal container to keep DF better tasting longer. This would be a great video experiment too in my opinion . Just to let you know, I am going to share this comment with some of my other favorite DF expert channels. I have just recently begun my journey in growing DF, so not possible to experiment myself just yet. Edit: just looked up Dragon Fruit storage, and it does suggest storing at the higher temps 40F-50F could last to 15-17 days. Happy growing
Why is my dragonfruit plant growing air roots? Maybe the crack is because of too much water or too much heat or a combination of the two like tomatoes, that's just a thought. Thanks man
Hi, need advice, I have a dragon fruit (I don’t know which variety from the supermarket) planted about 7 years ago in a 2 liter pot. I didn't shape it properly, it just grew by itself. What is the best way to make it start to fruit? 1. Cut off all unnecessary, leave one trunk and form according to all the rules 2. Graft another seed-grown variety onto this old trunk.
You grow dragon fruits on every side of your property. Do you think southern side is better than eastern side because southern side has more sun light?
Hi Richard, are you still using IV Organic fertilizer? OR you're using some other fertilizer. Please create a video when you have time. Thanks for teaching.
Aloha Richard, looks like you got a winner there, saw a little Mark Wiens expression in your video. Are you able to share what the parent varieties are and what variety pollen was used to pollinate and produce this amazing fruit?
Hi showbiznow! The parents are Asunta 5 x American Beauty and was created by Edgar Valdivia. The original creator of Asunta line. I crossed a mixture of pollen to set this variety because I wanted to ensure a fruit to try this season. It was a mixture of sugar dragon and pink panther pollen.
Will you kindly tell me as to what amount of water should I feed to the dragon fruit plant in the winter of my Himalayan region during the winter season.
During the winter I would water once every 2-4 weeks. Sometimes when it rains I don’t water at all. They are hibernating during winter so not much growth is happen so they require less water. I would check soil to see if it’s dry to water if needed.
Most people go Spicy Exotics, which is legit, you get a certificate thing with it, but they're expensive and almost always out of stock. Personally, I use Etsy, which can come with its own problems, you end up getting like a palora or a vietnamese white when you ordered something else, but it's based on the seller you buy from, so there are actually a lot of great Etsy sellers I would recommend, above and beyond them all is MayumiGardens, she's always kind, efficient, and gets you exactly what you ordered. She also tends to include an aditional cutting of a different variety, so she's great if you're just getting into Dragon Fruit and want to get some variety going fast without spending too much on the plants. That's just my experience though, hope it helps
Hi weshbibbs, I do sell cuttings from time to time but nothing too frequent so far. This winter has been a very wet and damaging winter so this season will take some recovering until I’m ready to release cuttings again.
That is called cactus rust. If you can avoid and not plant that cutting it would be ideal. They tend to will keep growing if they already have it as a cutting. That means it’s infected by cactus rust.
I still have fruit from last season. Been taking forever to ripen because of the cold. Some have been cracking because of all the rain we have been getting.
That’s very normal for the winter time. The fruit is will take very long to ripe and sometimes crack at the skin because so much rain pours. When it gets hot and dry they will become a lot better.
@@GraftingDragonFruit I was about to ask in the comments, if you have a resource for where to get dragon fruit varieties, but since you mentioned cuttings, do you actually sell cuts of your plants yourself, or have other resources we can get some? I'm not in a position currently to have Dragon Fruit, but Dragon fruit was a favorite of mine as a child.
Another variety that will never be released to the public.. At this point I’ve no clue what you’re agenda really is. I can’t even say you’re building hype any more because it seems like you don’t care whether or not people want these varieties
Hi Richard. Just passing by to say THANK YOU. I harvested seven little but delicious dragon fruits grown in a 50 L pot (13.20 gallons).
You’re welcome and congrats on the harvest!
