I saw the Argo tied up on the quay in Spetses before the voyage, and got chatting with some of the team. They gave me the grand tour and offered me a place on the voyage. Sadly it wasn't practical to join them - it would have been a grand adventure! But it was a treat just to be able to hang out on a bronze age ship for a couple of hours...
I saw this on the tv when I was a little boy. Some of the best reconstructive archeology since the Kon-Tiki expedition. This footage needs to be preserved at all cost.
I agree it needs to be preserved for all to see. But you would be surprised how many documentaries I have posted, only for them to be removed for copyright infringement.
Now available in a multipack with the Brendan Voyage and Sinbad Voyage in kindle format. It had been out of print for a while and is now preserved for the next generation!
There are quite a few theories about where they realy went. I read one that they where going up the danube. You can hear that one all over the place around the danube. Nobody realy knows where they realy went
What a mind blowing adventure and so fun to retrace the footsteps of an early Greek monomyth.
God rest Tim's soul. He has now departed on another great voyage. He is sailing the river stix now to the next life. He was an inspirational man.

Magic. I've wanted to watch this again for years. Tim Severin is an adventurer in the true sense of the word.

Wonderful to see this again after so many years.
I honestly thought this footage had been lost. Good job!!!
Wonderful!! I am rereading the hardback of this voyage published 1985. It has lost none of its adventure or romantic appeal.

I didn't see this at the time (I was in Africa), and never realised how good it was. The replica Argos is kept in Volos, or it used to be.
Thanks for the comment.
What, it still exists??? Excellent news!
Dear Hugh Jason, the replica of ARGO is still kept in Volos and a small replica of it welcomes visitors outside the Port of Volos!!!
