Yeah, german internet is a scam. I once saw a meme that was like "German internet is 3 times slower than romanian internet, but that is completely understandable since german internet also costs three times more"
bro thats even an understatement... recently moved and they aint got cable in my new apartment so I had to switch to DSL, its almost half the speed of what I had before and costs 5€ more per month 😐
And it's all thanks due to the great and successful politician named Helmut Kohl, whose friends told him that the internet was a scam and would never catch on, so stopping fibre and investing into broadband was clearly the correct decision, as well as the 2 chancellors that came after him, who did nothing to salvage it, but rather decided to state "The internet is new territory, therefor we can't make any meaningfully fast decisions!"
Wait til you learn about greek internet. Costs 24€ per month for 12mbps

@@Metalmanijak I had DSL back in 2012 in Wisconsin, USA. It worked for playing World of Warcraft and I had to share it with the landlord, and 4 other people in that home. No one else really used the net as much as me in 2012 so it was fine.. but man did it SUCK.

Fellow German here, and yes our Internet is really unstable. If you are lucky and can have a good connection, but we still have spots, in our country, that has no Internet. Zero. Nothing. No Connection what so ever.
Politician say, they will fix it, but most of us just accepted that it will never get better and that we get laughed at us. :')

I hate shilling for any of Musk's shit, but have you looked into Starlink? I couldn't get decent internet where I was (shitty old Broadband that cut out constantly because I was too rural for fibre cable) and ended up getting Starlink instead. It's been amazing.

In Germany there are only 10% of all households who have glass fiber connections to internet
But the thing is that your home counts into that statistic, even if it isn't connected to the glass fiber and the wires go a few metres past your home so the real number is even lower than 10%😭

As a German I have to say that your internet is not that bad. As long as you are in a bigger city. In the right district. In the right street. Not in a train or bus tho! Ideally in a building which isn't made out of concrete. And not futher than 2 rooms from your router. So yeah, great internet here. Trust me bro

As a regular backpacker/camper, do listen to that guy who told you about the toothpaste, Otz. In the US, we use something called "bear bags," where we pack everything that a bear could smell and want (food, toothpaste, deodorant, basically anything that has a smell), put it in a bag, and hoist it between two trees with paracord so they can't get at it. Stay safe!!

The Problem with internet in Germany is, that we once had a Chancellor who didnt believe in the success of the Internet as it begin to became public around the World. So his Gouverment didnt build the infrastructure for it. And now we are 10-15 Years behind the Rest of the World.

Your comments on Germany's ping reminded me of an only tangencially related video called "The Politics of Ping and Performance" by Viveros (he's an Overwatch content creator but his content is more about gaming and the world in general) and its really interesting!! The uninformed (like me) wouldn't think ping is a particularly political thing but it absolutely is and it's interesting to hear about :p

Otz I turned 20 on the 4th, but for like 50% of my time on videogames whilst I was 19 I was developing a tech with trickster in DBD, im working on perfecting it but it might be the most amazing thing you've seen trickster do. The only problem is that it would probably also take someone a while to replicate it, I dont want to tell people too much about it but it involves trick blades. When I master it could I send it to u to view it and see if it would be worth showing to the community?
