How to Remove Someone From Group Chat on iPhone

- Remove someone from a group chat on the iPhone, iPad, or any iOS device. This can be done by clicking i in the chat screen. Once you are in the group chat window and you press i, it will take you to another page where you can see everyone's contact that is part of the group chat.
You can simply slide left on their name and you will get a remove option that will appear on the right of your screen.
Press remove and that will remove that person from group chat on your iPhone or iPad.

So if there is only 3 people in chat, it won’t let you delete anyone most of the time. Just add another contact and then you can delete. If the chat is created by someone else and had a mix of iMessage and regular sms, it also won’t let you remove people.

Yes. I was frustrated too because these instructions did not work. My daughter found a directive stating that for the above procedures to work, every phone included in the chat must be an Apple product. If anyone has an android/etc. you have to delete the whole chat and begin again only with those individuals whom you wish to include. If anyone knows a way around this, I haven’t discovered it, and I welcome your input!

In the tip right is the camera NOT the “i” button
It doesn't work if you have even one person that is not using an iphone. So, if you have six iphone users and one android users, the option to remove a person does not appear. It just keeps showing the contact and their information. What a terrible malfunction of a feature just because one user has an android!!

NO. If *you* didn't create the Chat Group [chat bubbles on the left side are gray and on the right side are green], don't waste your time. This means that one or more phones in the group are not Apple iPhones and you will have to contact your local carrier that 'shares' the chat app with Apple [super poor design]. And yes, you could waste an entire day with your carrier and get nowhere, so it's easier to just delete the entire Chat Group [go to chat list hold finger on that chat for a sec and then press 'edit' then 'delete'] and create a new Chat Group with only those members you want. You won't hear this from Apple or a RUclips, but you're hearing it from me now because this is how it really happens. Many of the Apply support team don't understand this. Apple needs to fix this problem as its a major undocumented bug.

It only allows me to delete the entire contact. That’s not what I want. I just want to remove the person from the thread. Total 4 people. This didn’t work for me. No I given to me in the upper right only the video icon.

Hi I have an iphone 11 Pro MAX with IOS 13.3.1 When I follow these instructions it won't allow me to move left and I can't get the Remove Red box you have in your video to the right.
If I go to an old chat group it works but it doesn't seem to work with a group chat I created this week. When I get to listing presented after going to the i for info I can't remove any participant I added nor remove myself or delete the group chat itself. THoughts?

None of those options are available. Sliding doesnt work its grayed out. What software ios system is your phone using???
If I remove someone will they be notified that they are deleted? Will they be able to still send message in the group just that I won’t be able to see it?
Did'n worked on my Iphone 11, the i icon doesnt appeared, but I pressed the icon on people, and I was able to go to the next section, then I tried to slide the person that I want to remove and doesn't allow me to do that.

Nope, doesn't work for me. iPhone 6S Plus OS v.12. No ability to slide name left or right to find the REMOVE button. No button down below to select if I want to remove myself from the conversation either. No button to allow me to ad someone to the group.
This was not a functional way on my I-phone. such BS that it cannot happen. The slide left is not working. You have to delete the whole group and make a new group.
