I really like how your ring light can attach to the top and stow away like that. I have two with the same built-in outlet but the clamps could never fit around the hood at the top (I think we have the same hooded workbench). I had them attached to a rolling test cart beside the bench but they were always in the way. I switched to a floor-standing version but it’s always in the way too and the arm never wants to articulate the way you need it too.
I’m definitely going to take a harder look to see if I can approximate what you have going… maybe a larger board on top of the top shelf with an overlap so that I have something to clamp to… then I can add the extra magnification lens to my floor standing one for the odd occasion where it might be useful (currently removed because it’s too much magnification).
Hi there. That's exactly what Shane did. put a board as a spacer to allow the clamps. He wanted to flexibilty to move it to another work bench too. Ask him to post a pic in the community member thread.

One of my articulating magnification ring lights has an on/off toggle switch with a third momentary position that interrupts the power. This is basically a manual starter for the fluorescent bulb which pretty much never starts first try. You are supposed to flip it on then hammer the momentary side a couple times until the light comes on and stays on. You sure yours was broken and didn’t expect something similar?
He said he thinks you are on to the right diagnosis with the switch. He said it had three contacts hw could never get a reading but since two would work on/off he was able to use those as a LED switch.
