You need to be using a brushhog
Can you imagine how many times I’d have to pull forward and back up with a tractor and then brushy spot?
We farmed 300 acres and had done in many years. If I could back over the tree/brush it was gone. The equipment was made to handle much larger stuff. Our rotary cutter was made for this kind of heavy duty work, check out the cutter thickness and the spindles are much thicker
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer nothing's easy. almost have to dig it and cut, or rip it or you'll pierce a tire! yeah really bad.
The only thing wrong with that tractor is the nut loose behind the wheel!🤣
I'll agree with ya there lol
😂😂 Wooooo!
I'm glad to hear Buddy is feeling better on the medicine. I hope it continues to help.
You might use the Ventrac to clear the lighter brush so you can reach the stouter trunks with a small chainsaw to save abuse on the pulleys and blades. Obviously maxing out the Ventrac’s capabilities also shortens its life.
Vintrack breaker, man, that was a big trunk to cut with a mower deck, no matter how sturdy.
One thing I learned many years ago living out in the country on the farm is to always buy replacement parts (like pulleys and special bolts) in twos or threes so you don't have to stop your job and run to town to get equipment up & running again. Sure helps reduce the stress levels! LOL! Good video though.
What another great video. I hope all VenTrac owners are paying attention to this. What a free learning opportunity brought to you by Josh. As we enter the season, Josh has 100% on all levels of farming including repairs that would cost you a lot of money to have fix, he shows you how to, so you don't have to spend the extra. Lets give it up to SRF and Josh for teaching everyone how small or large your homestead or farm is.
Lol, Josh wasn't asking for advice on to use his equipment. Bossy people!
oh....I get some good tips and I get some insulting ones lol....it's all good brother
Picking on you for breaking equipment. ;-) Looks a lot better than what it was. Far better using that Ventrack than a brush saw in terms of productivity. Once you chip up the big stuff, is it worthwhile, in your situation, to spread the chips on the pasture to add carbon?
I think you may need to invest in a skidsteer mower for that type of use. I was impressed by the Ventrac considering it isnt really made for that type of mowing.
Hey Josh I hope Buddy is feeling better! Your Ventrac is one awesome machine.
“Devastation” 😂😂
thanks Joe!
When we yell "clear prop" before starting an airplane, the next step is to wait, look, and ensure the area is clear before actually engaging the starter lol. I get the feeling you know that and are mostly using it for effect here, though.
As a 4520P owner with the new tough cut deck (the one shown is an old model) let me assure everyone watching that DOESN'T know that replacing two pulleys and two belts per 40 minutes of work is NOT normal😂
Yes I have to agree with you! Ventrac makes a very durable tuff cut mower deck. Contrary to what Josh says it is NOT designed to cut the diameter of brush that he is cutting with it! Like I have said before not the sharpest tool in the shed!
Josh great 👍 job and video I like that you don’t try to hide broken parts when you’re doing a job on the farm also glad that buddy is doing better with his hip 😮😊❤
Interesting !! I luv to watch things change before ur eyes - even though u had problems with going over something u weren’t really suppose too 🥴🤔👍🏼👊🏻
Hi JOSH, That is Good News about Buddy Puppy! Hope that the comments helped or a case of visit the VET? Sorry about the VENTRAC and Mr. Rock. Maybe BORROW some goats for that invasive brush stuff? Maybe use something that has a dozer blade? You have some really thick brush there that is gonna bust the heck out of normal gear! GOOD LUCK!
Make a video about the ornamental pear trees taking over our thickets, fence rows, hay fields.
Yea, I have the 3/4" Milwaukee...it's a true beast
yes it is!!!
That would have been an interesting place to do a control burn or bale graze with the razor grazer and let the cows do it
…as long as you have extra money for belts, let them RIP! 😂
Better off getting a mulcher/ forestry mower for the Gehl Skid steer for that stuff. That ventrack wasn't made to cut trees and overgrowth.
yep...it's made for this brother...totally. Can't run a forestry head on the little Gehl because it's too dangerous....need a forestry setup on there and high flow hydros. But...you are right to an extent...some of those trees were a little too much
you are wearing my favorite shirt!!! wear mine all the time!!!
My dad once told me it’s a Brushhog! You ain’t supposed to cut timber with it. Love watching your videos, and it was a fix it video. I believe I would have had a tractor with a front loader and pushed those downed trees out of the way as I mowed. But that’s me. Keep it clean!
I got the one I use at work stuck on a fence post today, was recutting some long grass it built up on the wheels and I slid sideways and put a wheel either side of the post. Just reached 50 hours on it today
Hey Josh thank you for the video I enjoyed it and if you don't break things then how you going to learn Woo
Hey Josh, that Center hub looks like it is welded to the actual Pull-A-Part of it. Had to look at it over and see the new one looks like it's welded but the old one looks like it never got any penetration just completely slid off.
Baby aspirin for the Dog
Those are good mowers or I guess tractors. Maybe order a bulk pack of pullys.
need to sharpen my blades....then I won't break stuff so bad
Try some turmeric for your dog
Does that mower not have breakaway blades like a bush hog? Where when they hit an immovable or large object they fold back to lessen the chances things break?
they're like lawn mower blades....however when they're dull they don't cut so well lol
Hey Josh
Is there any update on Chicken Coop .im interested in seeing how Gees Guard gonna turn out
still waiting on my chick order from the hatchery at the moment
I would rather smoke a bekt than break a shaft! 👍
Missing your live streams I know youre busy but I need my Stony ridge fix LOL
I know right...I may do a livestream this weekend if the wind holds off a bit
Too bad the shear strength wasn't beefier because those part replacements add up.
if I had the blades sharp...we wouldn't be breaking stuff...totally my fault here
Looks like Bobcat makes one like the Ventrack.
I heard somewhere that bobcat bought out Stiener tractor...not sure though
...use COMMON sense when clearing your property...😀
please be kind brother
The brush cut on Ventrak not suppose to cut over 2 inch diameter brush. 😢
yeppers.....and a 1/2 ton pickup shouldn't hold a pallet of fertilizer...but we do it sometimes lol
@StoneyRidgeFarmer . Like some people say, "Where is ya COMMON SENSE
order two or three of those pulleys to have them on hand.
👍
Do you not have lights in your mega shop? It always looks so dimly lit or dark in there.
After watching the ventrac break a belt and another pulley, you may want to get a brush cutter for the front of your skid steer. Hydraulically driven no belts or pulleys to break.
havn't totally wired it up yet
We got shrimp, scampi, shrimp, stew, shrimp, kebabs, barbecue shrimp, coconut, shrimp
shrimp and potatoes
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣@@StoneyRidgeFarmer
Sitting that low on a tractor getting attacked by the briars doesn't seem like a fun mowing experience 😂!
lol...that's one of those "suck it up buttercup moments lol
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer 🤣🤣🤣
It’s a Ventrac not a Vencrack
needs to be a "Ven Sharp" so I quit breaking it lol....Time to sharpen those blades!
🌹🌹❤🌹🌹
Off-topic: I was just watching the Poplar Report on RUclips. The announcer said that hidden in the recent omnibus bill was a condition that all farmers had to chip their cattle with a RFID chip so as to be able to track them. (More than an ear tag ) He gave a lot more details. I just wondered if you had heard about this and how it affects you?
It will affect all cattle producers if they sell their cattle at any sale Barn
@@midwayfarms , Thank you for your comment. I suspected that it would not be good for farmers. I am retired and live in Los Angeles now, but was raised in the farm lands of North Dakota. Many of my relatives were cattle and wheat farmers. Some of my greatest childhood adventures were around visits to the farm. Happy I was raised in that environment as it made me who I am today ! Heck, if I smell manure today, it always reminds me of the fun times I had on my uncles farm in North Dakota. 😂 Lucky me!☘️
A rule stating that RFID eartags are the only official eartags went into effect on January 1, 2023. The omnibus bill mentioned RFID eartags.
See the full excerpt below. It's for electronic eartags.
_The agreement directs the Department to continue to provide the tag and related infrastructure needed to comply with the Federal Animal Disease Traceability rule, including no less than $15,000,000 for electronic identification (EID) tags and related infrastructure needed for stakeholders to comply with the proposed rule, 'Use of Electronic Identification Eartags as Official Identification in Cattle and Bison,' should that rule be finalized._
@@karlrovey ,Thank you for your information. I appreciate it. The omnibus bill I am referring to took place around March 7, 2024. Does the most current omnibus bill change the rule on tagging that was implemented on January 1, 2023? I am wondering if this is an attack on small ranchers? I would appreciate any further comments you have to make .
You could probably weld that back together
never get it balanced just right...best to replace
are you looking for a good farm girl yet?
lol....I've been dating a very wonderful woman for a few months now
get some goats?
goats won't eat wood brotha....30 mins of mowing v/s 3 hours of fencing and bringing in goats....better suggestion...don't let things get overgrown like this....I should have done a better job maintaining it
You need goats they were doing a lot better than that fencing in
yep....bad thing is goats don't eat wood lol
If you're not breaking stuff, you're not working.
Hitting something too large. You're walking dude with chainsaw.
This Video reminds me that “stupid should hurt” and repeating something and expecting different results is the definition of insanity…..or maybe just stupid
or maybe if ya don't do anything...ya won't break anything my brother. 👍 I don't think I deserve to be put down for producing this video brother...I'm not Stupid
@@StoneyRidgeFarmerDefinitely not stupid Josh. Love your content and thank u for continuing in spite of all the undeserved and unwarranted abuse u get!❤
A+ (!!)
Ventrac Tractor the right small machine for the job but not the mow-deck. Ventrac needs to return to the drawing board for a re-design
nope the deck is great! I don't know of any other deck that could take this abuse....I just need to sharpen the blades pretty bad
It’s a ventrac…. Not a bush hog!! Ventrac machines are engineered and built to mow grass and weeds…. Not saplings and small trees! I know this as I own 2ea ventrac 4500z machines….. these are an awesome piece of equip as long as you keep them in their designed for lane……. All of this IS TOTALLY OPERATOR ERROR PERIOD! You are making your own messes due to lack of common sense.
