    • @joekaput747
      @joekaput747 Месяц назад +1

      Attending games doesn't help prevent relocation anyway. Did bad attendance doom the Houston Oilers? The Oakland Raiders? The Quebec Nordiques? The Dodgers in Brooklyn? Hell, even the Sacramento Kings before they were saved at the last second? Did the Browns selling out every game in Cleveland keep them in the city before being removed to Baltimore, or the Colts being overnight shipped to Indy?
      Going to games doesn't mean shit

      @@joekaput747 I didn't say going to games prevents relocation. What i'm saying is that fans shouldn't waste their money going to see their teams play unless they are good. Because being "loyal" and going to see a bad team is pointless because the owner wouldn't show you the same loyalty back.

    There is only one reason why the A's are leaving. The stadium is crap and has been mismanaged by the government that owns it for 30 years. If that stadium had been taken care of MLB would have never let the A's leave. As it is, they couldn't get the team out of Oakland fast enough.

      There was a fully fleshed-out plan to build a new waterfront stadium, and over $400 million raised for it. After they rejected a (better) fully fleshed-out plan to build multiple new facilities including a new MLB park on the Coliseum site. No one was even talking about renovating the Coliseum.

    • @mikelfrance-l6x
      @mikelfrance-l6x Месяц назад

      @@mithcee This is total and complete BS. The Mayor had "a plan" of Tax increment financing for the missing $300M. She was $300M SHORT by the City's own numbers. TIF -- that's PUBLIC MONEY. And that's not me talking. That's direct quotes from the Mayor's interview with Casey Pratt of ABC7, No way the city or city council would go for that. What good is "a plan" if its never going to happen? You think the voters of Oakland would vote for public money for a stadium owned by "John Fisher"?
      Half the city council, including the current Mayor when she was on it, wanted the team to build at the Coliseum. Half wanted Howard Terminal. The lawyers and the Union and the dock wanted the Coliseum. When Libby Schaaf left, there was no champion for HT. The Mayor herself while running barely mentioned "the A's" and said she only cared if they stayed "on her terms".
      Its a pity more people do not understand what was really going on. Too much BS from people on social media and RUclips.
