Actually used this technique for the first time last week on some very patterned Angel Strawbridge (look her up) paper, wow came out superb on two very tricky little windows, no curtains to hide seems😱 but who needs them now😄 finish is flawless. Great lesson thank you 👍
What a beautiful thing to say; I have to tell you I follow tradesmen from the UK so much because they seem to truly love the work and it’s inspiring to me my friend.
Thanks for tolerating my sense of humor; I really appreciate it because some people have said nasty things like your ego is huge… They just don’t understand my sense of humor
Your videos realy is helping me. I am from south africa and busy installing wallpaper at a newly built bank. Been strugling to get the stains of the vinyl wall paper and hanging into the recess so i gonna try all your tips tommorow. Thanks so much for sharing. Ps. Glue all over myself is also aggrevating me a lot so i feel your pain
Perfect!! I ended up here some how, I’m a pro decorator and didn’t need to watch this but ended up watching mainly because you have a feel of woody harrelson on white men can’t jump and I love that film 😂 😂 😂 I can here jimmy. Anyway good job 👍
Sir, you are a star , perfection , I 've not wallpapers for a while and needed to watch a true professional , love the flexible blade, how thinking my new brush was a waste of money. How things move on . Plus, will think how I charge my customers too . Painting is less " agro " than wallpapering, so it's a higher rate . Take care Spencer and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Regards Greg ( Hi )
I thought that the commentary was very funny and entertaining. I shall watch more just for the commentary. There was also a lot of skill as well. Thanks from John in the uk
Hey, thank you for all the helpful information! Can u suggest how to charge for install of commercial vinyl on a commercial job, walls and ceiling! Thanks so much!
Lauren, Figure out how much days it will take you to do the installation. Then tell yourself how much money should you make each day? And then charge that amount. Here’s the track… If they disagree with you that you are not worth that per day, walk away from the job
@@spencercolgan just wondering I'm going to be wallpapering one wall next week and it has a window on it. Should I start from the window first? So like in the corner? Thanks!
@@shellyc518 is the window in the dead centre of the wall? If so, make a straight line above the middle of the window & the middle of the window and hang your first left sheet right edge against your line and then hang your first sheet on the right side with its left edge against the drawn line and join the seams. Easier said than done I understand. Before you do that, measure the distance between where your left sheet left edge will be from the corner left edge of the left side of the wall in order to determine if you will have at least 6 inches of wallpaper. Between the left corner of the wall and the seem of the last sheet that will go up against the left corner of the wall. It might sound confusing but just read it over and over again until that makes sense.
Hi again Spencer Colgan would you say it is best to start from the window when decorating or do you start from the door and work round to the window thanks as the corners always throw me of which is next to the 2 side by side standard windows thank you
The windows require so much attention that I just began at the windows on my last job which I just sent to you… I sent you two videos from the same job and it all worked out because when you get to the windows, when you have multiple windows, it really makes the cuts very difficult and so I would just make sure that the wallpaper seems around the rest of the room fall reasonably far away from the corners but I would start planning from the windows. If you only pay attention to the windows they will look great but if you wind up an inch away from the corner, that’s not good so you wanna keep in mind where the wallpaper falls during the rest of the room
Anderlene…guess what? Last week I had not only two windows side-by-side with a gap in between but I have three on one wall and three on another and so I am going to share both of those videos with you! And by the way, I started right at the windows.
Here’s the place where I began the job with three windows: ruclips.net/video/GG3uUFc8AzI/видео.html And here’s the second video with special detailed info on exactly what you’re looking for regarding window returns ruclips.net/video/O_Uh3n9ufEg/видео.html Would you do me a favour? If you think I have helped you and if you think my videos are really good, would you please give me a five star review on the following Google link and yelp link? You’re definitely helping refresh my mind on how to do things.but also this splicing was never tought to me on my nvq.But it was 25 years ago.we had to do stuff like painting a whole wall in high gloss with minimal brush ropes or dry edge build up.PERFECT!!!
High great work.....question...would the paper that you overlaid to find the match leave a large amount of glue on the face of the piece underneath? If so how do I deal with it once again great work
Perfect! New to your channel so I apologize if you've covered this in another video. I live in the Orlando area and have a 10 year old house. It has the standard light textured walls. I realize this is probably a stupid question but - do I have to sand the walls completely smooth before wallpapering? I'm assuming yes, but just throwing it out there in case you have a better solution.
Please do not think like that; criticisms from others in our past have made us very hesitant to learn and discover new things and so we Received our questions like… I know this must be a stupid question… Actually, it’s a common question from a lot of people. Do not send that stuff; please follow the procedures and techniques in the following video that I will list momentarily: Here is the video and this is what you want to do to your texture ruclips.net/video/Im2CfsMzxSM/видео.html
How would you recommend doing what you're doing with peel and stick? Pray? LOL I'm assuming I cant stick over like you're doing with this one since it's peel and stick but I have a kitchen pass through issue my brain is having a hard time figuring it out.
What is the official name of the tool you used to smooth the wallpaper and is it plastic or metal. I'm thinking if plastic, doesn't the blade cause nicks in the plastic?
Thank you for refreshing an old man’s brain!!
This is really useful and has explained really clearly how to pattern march round the window. I feel ready to tackle this myself now.
As a fellow decorator you have done a fantastic job. It's nice to see someone taking their time and doing it the correct way. Great work
Thank you sir.
Perfect and sooo simple
You crack me up 😂 You are the man!
Now that’s how to wallpaper a recessed window! Perfect, I am going to do it this way for ever more 👍
