Nice! Even though I have the "official" Honda shop manual, nice to see how you approach this, and the level of care...damn! It's such a nice-looking bike, 37 years later!
Great video. Very under ratedbike was the CX650E. Very advanced for its time and super reliable. Sold mine for a new RE Interceptor a few years ago but miss the Vtwin.
Watched your video before attempting to install the heads on my GL 650, didn't understood wich cylinders was "Right" or Left" so i ended with a engine out of time jaja. Today i just remove rear cover to set it on time, and watch your video again so i hope my bike sounds like yours jaja
That’s because his motorcycle has an engine sets up that is incredibly easy for head gasket maintenance so he dosent have to remove the engine like on other bikes so be sure you know what you are doing.
10.07 The seat on our CX650E was sitting up at the rear like that, upon inspection i noticed a tab on the seat that has to go under a metal piece on the frame then you push the seat forward to slide it under. So easy to not put on properly.
Wee hoo.. take her for a blast! Hey can you guys do a video on Seadoo spark and the failing rear drive shaft problem. I think they updated it to a new design in March 2016.
We're not mechanics, so only work on machines that we either own, or that people ask us to fix. If we come across a spark with issues, we'll definitely make a video of it. Thanks for your comment.
My 650 Turbo had a little crack of about 1-2 centimeter at the cylinder on the water side, that went up to the top. The head gasket could not covered that crack. So, the crack was just in the aluminum.
@@3ftDeepChannel When I saw it , I used a special glue. Before, I used cooler-tight what helped to get me home from Scotland and Norway. Both tours were a torture. Now, I have a GSX 1100 F. No aluminum, no watercooling , no ECU and no hided alternator. The alternator was the first thing, that broke down after I bought the bike.

Well, if the generator broke, you had to get the whole engine out.

Good luck with your project!
Fantastic video. You make it look so simple and easy. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Dag!

When you put the head back on, why do you move the engine over to top dead centre? Is there any reason for it to align the valves or something?
Yes. As the valves are all closed at TDC, you are not trying to open a valves or valves when installing and torquing the rocker shaft assembly.

How did you end up dealing with it?

Are you guys switching over to only doing bikes now?
No. We'll do as many PWC videos as we can, we just haven't had much to film lately. New videos are coming, though.
3ftDeep nothing wrong with the bike videos. But can’t wait to see some more pwc content 👍
Did you machine the heads, or just cleaned them up?
We usually machine the heads in older units.
@@3ftDeepChannel so you would recommend to machine the heads? Or is it not too necessary?
Well, if you have an older machine it is best practise to machine the head. that way you can be sure you have a good seal. That’s what we would do.
