I don’t think it’s that Iowa is being “disrespected”, they are just such a great “unknown entity” at this point. With the combined losses of their long-time head coach, LB, the best women’s bb player of all time, CC, and tourney tested starters KM, GM, and MD, plus the addition of many new faces…they just need to prove themselves. It’s really that simple. If they continue growing and learning how to play at a high level with all of these new pieces to the puzzle, the rankings will follow. Once Big-10 play begins, the real story will unfold as to how good this team really is. So…don’t panic..just STAY TUNED!!
Lucy and Hannah are both listed on the preseason watch lists for the Naismith and Wooden awards. I don't think they're on them when the later lists come out, but still, a team with 2 of the top 50 players in the country is probably deserving of a top 25 ranking
Nice. I gave you some flack last year for underestimating Iowa, but I think you've got them about right this year. Top 25, probably in the 24-25 range. They've got a nice mix of a core group of upperclassmen: Stuelke, Olsen, Affolter, Feuerbach, McCabe, and O'Grady, and then a group of 4 top 100 freshmen that look like they'll have some potential once they develop over the course of the whole season. I'd love to see them finish top 16 so they can host the first two games of the tournament again, but that might be a bit of a stretch. There are a number of really solid teams in the Big Ten this year
Iowa's underclassman from last year definitely have a lot of talent and some of the most experience. Adding Olsen to that, can supercharge it to the point where they can still be a top team throughout the year (not a title contender, but an easy Sweet 16 caliber team). I think a lot of the omission has to obviously do with no CC or K-Mart, but I think the bigger factor is Jan Jensen being the new HC is making people want Iowa to "prove it" longer than other teams might.
I don’t mind Iowa being the first one out as I think it puts them in a fair position. However, I don’t think teams like Oregon, Nebraska, and Alabama should be any higher if at the same level as Iowa at all. I also think TCU should be in there too.
I don’t mind if they’re not top 25 yet, they have an improved defense, out rebounded VT 46-29, unselfish play with 15-6 assists, they will be ranked before conference play.

Their starting center, a senior, has played very little in her first three years but Addison will be a force this year. They stand a good chance of being ranked if they continue to win. I think they are a good team with a great coach and far better defensively than last year's squad. They also will be a much better rebounding team.
If they are being disrespected so are 40 other teams. Marketing shouldn't have anything to do with rank. I do think that are good enough to crack the top 25 eventually but they got to beat the tough teams. I also think they was overshadowed by Clark last year, they was a lot better than what the got credit for. The narrative of Clark did it alone has to wear out before they are respected properly. I think they need to earn a ranking. They didn’t shoot well against VT. Hannah need to shoot mid range shots, not take everything to the basket every time. She’s playing a new position so it may take time for her to find her game. Tegen didn’t show much last game. I think they will ultimately be ranked but they need to earn it

Lucy Olsen reminds me of Paige Bueckers, in that they both play under control, have great body control, and almost look like they are playing in slow motion. Iowa always does great player development, so look for this team to get better.

I genuinely didn't know Iowa was unranked in the Women's AP Poll until I watched the VT game; They definitely be in the Top 25 for sure
