The Boom is doing fine. There is the one issue: the section leader of the JSU percussion section needs to watch for tempo, Cymbals are included. That is only the first battle they have won. They can fix those things. They are still the best.
Boom had tempo issues on last song. Cymbals were in a bad position with a director to their side instead of in front of them. Im looking forward to hearing that one again mid season when it's cleaned up.
Tubas need to get tempo issues on the last tune worked out. It started to take away from the song. On my momma I think it was. Other than that great job. Your sound is clean, powerful and balanced. Got my ears ringing. Amazing job!!!
Who has the story on what happened to the band director that had SCSU big asf back in the early 2000s or what happened to the band program that made them shrink so tremendously? They still sound great 💯 I just wanna know what happened.
Short story…Previous president and administration misappropriated funds and the university almost lost accreditation. They didn’t want to pay Mr Ellis his worth and the band lost most of the scholarships. They are 3-4 years into rebuilding which allows for more music scholarships and the university enrollment is starting to increase again.
As an alumnus of SCSU from years ago, I can hardly believe the small size of the band. Trusting the school, enrollment, EVERYTHING is on its way back up.
JSU sounds good. The only thing I would change is the lower brass aggression as its too loud and strong. The lower brass doesn't allow the upper brass sectional/versus to be heard without them screaming over the lower brass. JSU u have power, learn to use it when needed. If I'm being picky, I would want JSU to put more energy in directing the band. Dr. little is a beast, I need to see him be more proud of his arrangement and directing the band with energy/character. Jsu is truly a diamond.
@@kentrelt5140 That's right, because SWAC, which includes Jackson State have everything skill to perform at an elite level. When it comes down to going against SWAC bands, you better bring that smoke. The SWAC are the heavy hitters of HBCU.
