Oh Gary, this is wonderful! I remember that Princess Anne wanted so much for you to perform. She is a wonderful woman with exquisite taste. I love this blast from the past - thank you for sharing this today, very timely following the Queen's passing. Can't wait to see you down under in just six months time! Mark
Born 1963 and raised in San Diego but not Pacific Beach Ocean BeachBacon and Newport Ave was the Haight/Ashbury of San Diego. I share the same birthday as Buddy Holly but sadly not his musical talent. As much as I love the huge hits Woman Woman Over You ,Young Girl it’s the songs that were written or co-written by Gary Puckett that are my favorites. A simple man,Could I,The Beggar and one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful songs I have ever heard “If the Day Would Come which I think Gary co-wrote with Mutha Withem and Kerry Chater RIP. Hardcore fans of The Who always roll their eyes when I say or write that Could I wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Tommy 1969 or Who’s Next1971. Same with The Beggar. It’s possible that Tommy could have met The Beggar on his journey thru life. My all time favorite is A Simple Man why wasn’t it released as a single. “I pray you feel my heart inside your dreams” Absolutely gorgeous song. It’s hard to believe Gary turned 80 in October. He looks and moves about 30 year’s younger. Gary should write a health and workout keeping fit book. I would be the first in line to buy it. I have a hilarious story about Mark Voorman who I met on the 1985 Happy Together tour but will save it for another day!!!’!!!! Thanks for all the wonderful music these past 55 years!! Gary Puckett and the Union Gap without a doubt the most underrated band of the Swinging Sixties !!!!!!!!!!
Hey Gary! Im probably one of your biggest fans ever - not a day goes by when im not listening to "Young Girl, Over You and I'm Just a Man" through my vintage Sansui receiver and Klipsch Heresy III speakers, from the Incredible CD. Absolute stunning performances, sounds even better than 1968!! Keep up the great work!
Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. There was nothing silly about that. That was nice rememberance about you preparing to perform for the Royal family. Enjoyed your performance in Quakertown and Lancaster, Pa and hope to see you and Happy Together tour next year in Pa. Lord willing. May your family and you have a safe, healthy and blessed upcoming holiday season🙂❤️ Sister C
It must be a great joy to be invited to the Whitehouse to perform. But if you listen to Johnnie Mathis tell it, he said he'll never do it again. Because they dont pay! Imagine? Having to foot the entire bill, traveling, hotel rooms, meals for an entire group of people, perform, and then get everything back home? All out of your own pocket? I'd snub them every time.
