They've got a live EP from the Yellow/Green album cycle, but yeah man, we definitely need a full-length live record.
Thats what I though listeting to maida vale 2. They sounds so much better than in the golden and grey record, so thats why I'm here. The guitar work is on another level

Baroness needs to keep this lineup of members in the band, they just work so well together.
Couldn't agree more. With all due respect to all of their former member, this lineup is an instant classic and the best.
Facts, extremely talented group with great chemistry. Gina rules on lead and is a fantastic backup vocalist, Seb is an absolutely killer drummer, Nick is a very good quality bassist and then John is just an incredible all around musician obviously. This lineup live is glorious.

Sebastian is such an insane drummer, I'm not sure how he's playing half the stuff he's playing some of the time
The man definitely doesn't get enough recognition
It took him some time to settle into the band, but then he became this incredibly heavy human drum and bass machine. He's the highlight of the band for me atm, which a is a lot considering Gina is also in it.

Everyone who does the video, audio, production, ect. for the K! Pit, deserves huge praise. No matter the band, it sounds, looks, and feels fantastic

Nick and Seb are fucking incredible too.
Fender combo amps and single coils, and they still sound heavier than most bands using full stacks and active pickups.
You can't mask soul with gear.
I like distortion with Tele bridge pickup. Cuts through pretty good.

One of my favorite aspects of Baroness
Sebastian and Nick have become a blinding force of groove devastation. A la Allen and Summer. Baroness will always be amazing
March to the sea easily became my favorite song of all times. Love you Baroness!!!!
Sounding heavy as hell with those single coils and Fender combo amps. Proof that you don't need high gain to sound huge.
It's okay now.
Peter preferred Les Paul type guitars with humbuckers which made the whole mix more full.
I think the setup as it is now is a little too thin for songs from older albums.
March To The Sea, particularly, didn't fit the Les Paul / Tele combo - the guitars are playing two notes of the same chord in the verses but when they're that tonally different it always felt off

@@square95 I think it's more about their mixes now being less focused on the guitars in general... like, they used to have the guitars fully at the forefront of their sound and now they're kinda serving a diferent purpose.

Still blows my mind that they get such a big, heavy sound from small Fender combos and single coils! Forget EMGs and fulls stacks, this is how you do heavy guitar music ladies and gentleman!
Too bad it doesn’t sound heavy. Great music, but the guitars are super thin.
Interesting how many people equate single coils with "sounding thin". Realistically they're just as beefy as buckers, they just don't have the additional wooly baggage. For this sort of music it works wonders as all the lead riffs are super cutting and the rhythm is nice and crisp.
@@mayamita You're just used to listening to muddy sounding bands. This is what heavy and clear sounds like. You're misconstruing gain with being the only way a band can be heavy.

And bringing Janeane Garofalo into the band was a good decision

The Purple album was my introduction to them...then the back catalog had me from the beginning. From diverse lineup changes, to unlikely matches of personal genres...this band has made Gold and Grey simply hair raising to add to the finality of the color records...

Seb and Nick are such an amazing rhythm duo. HIGHLY underrated. they fit each others style SOOO good!
Whole band is so talented, seb is amazing on drums and Nick a quality bassist, they work together perfectly and then Gina and John work perfectly, between the guitars and the vocals they are great duo, hell of a band forsure.
I like how the pedal boards take up like half the stage haha
You don't need a huge pedalboard to be a good guitarist, but John and Gina certainly make amazing use of effects while being amazing guitarists.
You should see their rehearsal room... It might be a world record, I'm not sure anyone can in fact walk in there. Some jacks have disappeared under the surface years ago...
If I remember correctly, John and Gina became friends partially due to their love of pedals.

Yo, this sounds great, especially for a live recording! This version of Seasons sounds better than the album! Gina's voice adds a lot to the older songs, too.
Joe Goddard sure but no body can make their guitar cry quite as well as Pete did

Saw these guys when I went to a show just to see Zeal and Ardour, but they blew me away. Definitely need to see them live again whenever I get the chance.

Was wondering why the mix was so good, then I realised Will Putney mixed it.
I listened to that band years ago and lost them...but today I saw that performance....and what should I say, it is just great because i like everything about it...the energy they are spreading is hard to say with words!
A band really enjoying playing live, you can feel the good vibes flowing between them, nice to see that nowadays. Love their songs live better than recorded, they rule!

I keep coming back to this recording since the albums are all so overly compressed. This is actually the best recording of a lot of these songs, lol.

I can't express how lucky I was growing up... my first show, I was 12 years old... Baroness was still Johnny Welfare and the Paychecks.. now here they are. John graduated from the same high school as me
I was here. Such a sick performance, sounded even better in person and the recording is amazing so that’s saying something. I’ve seen baroness 4 times
