I have an X3 that I was going to use for Outdoor related like fishing, hiking, etc… Do you think it’s worth it to upgrade to X4? Thanks, love your content!
Thanks for the Super Thanks, that’s very kind 😊 I shared a comparison video between the X3 and X4 that you might find useful ruclips.net/video/lFZccV3g2DY/видео.html
Firstly, no camera will be perfect. Sure, low light can be improved but I still love this camera. It's the most versatile I use for my Society x Culture News channel for my 800k followers. I love the overall image quality for third-person perspective. I use it along with my OP3 for interviews n vlogging. I think they are the ultimate vlogging combo. I use two DJI Transmitters (TX) with my Osmo pocket 3 I had already bought one to use with my insta360 X3 (now using X4). I can plug a USB-mic into the osmo pocket 3, love the fact can use the TX to start and stop recording.
I just started my RUclips channel, using my iPhone. I’m gonna test this week how to use and how I like the insta360 as its laying around the house anyway 🎉
One thing I have never seen covered in a review: What does the footage look like when you zoom in all the way to 1080p for example? Is it only usable for super wide angle stuff or can you also zoom in a lot to get close-ups or is it pretty much unusable? I'm considering using this camera exclusively for travel because I'm tired of lugging around all that gear (or leaving it behind) but I'm sceptical if this camera will be a bit restrictive in the kinds of shots I can get. Any thoughts?
@@TamaraGabrielUK Yes, sure. But like..how much? How narrow is a 1080 crop for example? Would it still be considered wide angle or more like a 50mm? And what is the quality like? Of course 1080 looks different on each camera so I'm thinking "How much can I crop in (talking roughly full frame equivalent) before it becomes unusable"
I have both the X4 and a Pocket 3....I use the DJI mic 2 that came with the Pocket with the X4 as well when I need it. I'm considering selling the Pocket even though the picture quality is wonderful because I like the X4 getting shots of people around me without them notice I'm filming them. I'd be very self conscious pointing a camera at anyone and fear looking like a creep etc. Also, with a 360 camera you don't have to focus on composition as much with a shot especially if I'm with others when I don't have the time to set up a shot
You are absolutely right, this is the case that I often experience when I am recording in tourist attractions and other places with many people, with the Insta360 X4 it is very possible for us to record in all directions without other people realizing, that's why I sold the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and I bought the Insta360 X4
I have a serious dilemma between either buying the X4 and the newly released Action 5 Pro. I know its like comparing apples with carving knives, as they both do similar but completely different things, and given I still run a GoPro Hero 9 and own the Insta360 One X2, as well as owing the DJI Mic 2 (twin pack), I almost have everything I need anyway, I'm just trying to improve on one thing - quality. I'm currently playing around with VR 360 video trying to achieve the highest quality footage for immersive video, and I know that VR isn't as popular as every other vlogging-style video, but you can still watch 360 on a desktop or mobile device and still get 360 FOV if your drag or move. My ultimate goal with 360 is to produce instructional videos to help out new motorcycle riders, especially those who do own VR headsets, to provide some kind of immersive instructional as to how I ride and the thoughts and observational alertness I use as an experienced rider. It also offers the opportunity as you have demonstrated here, to be able to capture everything that's going on, even if you weren't directly focusing on it at that time. I could add audio afterwards in post. Then there's the Osmo Action 5 Pro with it's dual mic bluetooth input ability... the pros/cons are a too tricky to decide which avenue to go.
Thank you for this!!! Very comprehensive example of use case 👌👌👌 If I may ask, how long do you extend the selfie stick to properly angle yourself and doesnt look distorted?
Another great video! We have the 360 and now realise a gimble pocket is needed for other Vids and plans we have for the channel. But it's great to get ideas on what we can use the 360 for. Lots of "how to" videos out there on how to sort the settings but this video shows the real life results! Many thanks.
Thank you for the genuine review. I had one question and is that if let's say someone wanted to edit the footage then is there a way to transfer data via wifi?
The footage looks great. I want it but I also feel like I want that small one that insta360 has the 3s or whatever it's name is. I still feel the 360 will be way more fun. What would you recommend for a DP that wants to shoot mainly BTS and maybe some creative shots as well? Get the 360 or the 3s?
That's a great idea on using the existing audio to capture background and give the scene more flavor...plus plugging all that in risks having it get unplugged so using both is an excellent option and easy enough to sync up in post.
For me the only downside of this camera is post production, but it’s amazing to have like 2 cameras with 180 degrees field of view and you don’t need to worry about frame yourself, just pay attention on the moment. Insta360 launches the insta360 go 3s and now shoots 4k, hope to see your videos about it. For me the go 3 is the best action cam ever made, even to old version that do not shoot 4k, but the versatility and fun of use makes this lack of pixels not a problem.
It’s hard to choose between dji action 4, insta ace pro and insta360 x4, I never had any type of cameras so I am afraid of choosing the wrong one. I will be waiting for the next generation, dji action 5 and go pro max2. Cuz I will buy one in 3-5 months from now. I live near mountains, woods and wildlife, it’s always rainy here also I want to film sealife, underwater fishing, snorkelling and stuff like that, not interested in blogging but why not. So priorities would be like this : 1- waterproof 2- quality 3- the more fun I can get does the 360 worth it? Could it really capture everything around with the best possible quality? Would like if anyone advise me for the correct choice.❤
The Insta360 X4 won’t give you the best quality over the Action 4 or even the GoPro Hero 11/12, but it will give you best versatility in capturing everything from (pretty much) all angles.
0:22 just like when I was on a hike a few years ago and was using my at the time One X2. I slipped and fell flat on the ground and had I be using something like an Ace Pro, DJI A3/A4....all the viewer would have seen is the sky. With the footage from the One X2, I was able to reframe in post and see just how goofy I looked when I fell....plus my cousin that was behind me was coming over to help me up...it was a funny bit that I kept in my video as a blooper and people I shared with just loved it and got a good laugh
Yes! A reviewer who uses medium sharpness on the X4, which is(I believe) the only way to get the advantage of the 8k 360 capture. I shall subscribe at once! Oh - but I am already a subscriber. Oh well. Anyway, the samples in this video are VERY persuasive, even though I already have the X1 and X3. But next I will watch your new comparison video. You never stop!
As a beginner at filming and editing, I appreciate these videos. Tamara explains everything in a way that makes sense and is easily relatable. Does she have any videos in how to use the Insta360 studio app? I need help learning how to edit. 😅📸😂
Great video as usual. Good to see you in London. It’s a shame about the weather though 😅 Also, was wondering if or when you’re doing a video on that mic you’re using? 🤗
Another fantastic video Tamara! I’m thinking about adding this camera to my kit. Do you edit on the 360 app? I recently got the new iPad m4 and wondered how good the app is on iPad and if it has full functionality.
Thanks! I’ve actually not tried the app on iPad, I always just edit using the app on my phone for a quick Short/Reel, or use the desktop app for main edits.
I like your content and because you prioritize quality over all else. . . however, perfection and wanting things to look its very best (is what hinders me) 😞.
It’s definitely a tricky one. More and more I’ve found myself “letting go” and just rolling with whatever I have, depending on the clips and what they’re for. I love high quality but as you said, it can be a hindrance so I have to force myself to think about the bigger picture and how the shots fit into the final video.

Completely underrated videos... They are so easy to watch and to the point... keep them coming...

100% but Tamara is growing. It takes time, to grow a channel, but she's about to BREAK

1:47 Can anybody tell me, is that the ACTUAL camera + stick? Or does it protrude further out than that?
I just started my RUclips channel, using my iPhone. I’m gonna test this week how to use and how I like the insta360 as its laying around the house anyway 🎉
i have a rookie question..do u use the protective lens cover when vlogging? i did with mine and it has an annoying cloud like images
thanks
No, I don’t bother using the lens covers.
Thank you for the practical, realistic take on the X4. Storage and memory card performance factors are often forgotten by other creators.

The more you zoom in the more the quality will degrade.

Hi Tamara! Your videos looks awesome! I hope you don't mind me asking but do you upload your videos to RUclips as Pro Res files?
Thanks! I don't upload as ProRes files. Here are my settings geni.us/S4FFb
Great stuff Tamara
Couldn’t you connect your x4 to a receiver to get the audio directly?
Which wall charger do you use for the Insta360 X4 or the X4 Charger? Could it be the iPhone charger?

How is syncing up internal recording with video easier
Because all I have to do is select the audio file and the video file and hit Synchronise’ in FCPX, takes seconds.

record a 32bit back up track on the transmitter itself and use that. It should be very easy to sync and will give you MUCH better audio
