What makes Andy's reviews so good? First, he is an excellent player. Second, he never plays garbage to show off. Instead he plays music perfectly suited to show what the pedal does. Third, he LISTENS to what he is playing and the pedal and reacts to it. He literally shows you how you will creatively interact with the device. Massive respect for all three of these.
As for the pedal itself: looks great, but I think it costs too much for everyday amateur musicians. I hope the company sells enough to keep going with what they are doing.
100% right. i HATE when i go to a review and they play some wild thing that I would never actually play on stage- giving me NO idea how I could use the pedal
Theyre on sale this weekend for 263 at gamechanger audio, not a bad price.
Could not agree more on Andy. Same with Mike Hermans and Brett Kingsman - their review always go to the bottom of what device is supposed to do for you. On the price - that is what Black Friday is for ;-)
This video does not even scratch the surface of the capabilities of this pedal. I bought recently and i am extremely happy with it. When I first started playing guitar about 10 years ago, I dreamt that someday this pedal would exist. As soon as I saw this video I bought it. It's pricey as hell but it's well worth it for my style of playing. Btw this thing NAILS Shine on you crazy Diamond
Congrats.
Its like dream come true. Same like me. But i still find it in indonesian music store or after market, but this pedal still doesnt exist here… maybe because the price as hell 😅
Price aside, this is easily one of the most practical pedals I've ever own. I use it everywhere
Hey Andy! I've been enjoying your demos since the Pro Guitar Shop days. You are as awesome as ever!
This is one of the most useful and innovative pedals I've ever seen. It puts the guitar on par with a piano in it's ability to reach so many notes and harmonies at once. As a piano and guitar player who can never stick to one because of this, I'm so excited by something like this. It really is a game changing pedal, that's just a factual statement. Wow and I'm just realizing it now, this pedal isn't only limited to a guitar after all. It can be used with anything you can plug into it, a wind instrument for example, even your voice! Sheeeeesh
One of the most innovative pedals I've seen in several years. Definitely adding to my wishlist.
I think I will have to add it to my list as well. I know one day I will find a use for it. Sounds too good to pass up.
You are King of the RUclipsr's, because there is nothing that you could not sound awesome. No ego, nothing superfluous, no bullshit. Just perfection, RESPECT.
Andy@Reverb, I apologize. Weeks ago I may have sounded sharp, asking why this breakout pedal from NAMM 2017 hadn't been reviewed. And here you are doing the BEST review I've seen, and applying nuances I haven't figured out yet.
You're a musician and a gentleman. 🎸
As always, an excellent video demo - just what I needed to know. Many thanks.
I’ve been dreaming about this pedal for ages!
Had this pedal for a while now and absolutely love it.
Darius Talaat Still love it? Where is it in your signal chain?
Shawn Adams Yup, I have it right after my tuner right now. IMO, it works best as a „raw“ source of sound to feed into other pedals. Together, with a fuzz, chorus and some time effect you can get super dope synth pads out of it.
But it‘s also pretty gorgeous by itself.
Darius Talaat That sounds awesome, thanks for replying!
Esse pedal é fantástico. Tudo o que eu sempre sonhei em um pedal! Incrível!
Stay til the last minute, folks. Fantastic guitar playing, Andy!
Andy makes every pedal sounds great
Oh look out "Shine on you crazy diamond" live at the Albert Hall, here I come. Great Demo!!!
Do you need this pedal at the dimming of the day?
Whenever I look up a pedal review and Andy pops up I know before I watch the video that I'm going to buy the pedal because it's 100% going to sound like magic in a box.
Andy: Pushes pedal once
Me: I need this
Every fuckin' time :)
wonderful demo, thanks!
I've been looking for an in-depth, nuanced review of this pedal, and of course Andy does it brilliantly. The PLUS Sustain is really unique and offers a simple and natural sustain with a bunch of other dynamic features that can be used across a range of genres. Thanks Andy.
Now this is a sustainable resource
There may be a time in the future when everyone owns one. After Bheringer rips it off.
@@ashfordp676 I'll wait for that future.
😉 clever 😀
As always a nice review. Interesting pedal. I can already see some use for it, but it is expensive. Need to give this some serious thought.
Great demo and a cool pedal...
That was pretty incredible.
Most unique and useful pedal in a long time in my book.
First thing I thought. Unfortunately I don't have a use for it, but it sure is a cool idea!
Awesome progressions Andy
Andy sent me into a perpetual dream state on this one.
This review right here... effective ✅ Sold!! Great demo!!
Beautiful intro mate
I've just not noticed the gear used is being mentioned in the description. Nice.
Very cool, that GUITAR though 💜😍
awesome idea!
Wowness abounds!
This is really cool. I like how it's like a piano sustain pedal.
I honestly can't believe this hasn't been done before. It was right in front of us all this time and no one thought of it. Wow
to each their own, but i had a superego and sold it because the frozen signal sounded awful. this seems like a nicer alternative.
Andy is the leader of our people. Long live the King!
3:02 im a lo-fi indie guy through and through, but this was one of the coolest things ive ever heard
That’s a sweet guitar wish I had one like that
My only question is where to put it in the chain. I have the Superego plus, and this sounds far better. Plus, the Superego has a voice like quality that I can't seem to change. I'll be selling it, and getting this.
adding this to a pedalboard would be fun but ...like, where in the chain would I put it? Pre Looper? Post Looper? Parallel? Might have to buy two ..fricken' cool with the dry wet switch
N i i c e demo . . thanks
This seem like an awesome pie e of equipment. However, I would like to hear how it reacts to a really heavy distortion. Every video demonstrations I've seen of these kinds of sustainer pedals all play fairly clean tones and they all go for that ambient type music. Which is awesome, don't get me wrong. I could probably spend days by my amp playing around with those kinds of sounds myself, but I would also like to see how this would fair when it comes to say switching between a heavily distorted chorus part of a song to a verse with a clean tone, all while the last distorted note fades out in the background.
I think the best way to test it with heavy distortion is feed the Plus Pedal with your main dry tone and send the wet output to a dedicated clean guitar amp.
I feel in love with that pedal when it appeared on TPS. Holy shit it's amazing.
Congrats on the amazing demo of it, really beautiful.
now this would be cool for playing Krautrock
Can it pick up a few consequent notes as piano/synth pedals do? Or it works as a momentary switch as well as EHX Freeze that sustains only notes sounding at the moment?
I did not quite get the idea of a 'group mode' -overdubbing?
Wow, this does a lot more than I thought
It must be crazy good with electric pianos also
Electric piano has a much better pedal
@@lukaskuipers7791 Most of them, I suppose, but there are some like the Pianet that don’t have sustain mechanism.
Very cool. Nice demo. I need one! How much?
I NEED THIS! TAKE MY MONEY!
Wow, this thing sounds/looks like the real deal. Great innovation and ingenuity.
I can't believe this didn't exist before.
It did. The EHX Freeze has been around for a decade, and it does exactly the same thing as this (for a third of the price).
@@CLaw-tb5gg This does way more than the EHX Freeze
This pedal is badass
nothing better than the incredible Finch pedals @
Where can I get one of Andy's invisible pics?
Seems like a higher grade (& price) to the EHX Freeze pedal. Just wondering if it's worth 3 to 4 times the cost....hmmm?
Bill Frisel would like this pedal and this demo! good on ya!
best pedal that I ever had the pleasure of hearing! I've watch a lot of Guitar Pro Shop Dems and this pedal is penetrating my mind, it's like the big bang my third Eye that wraps around my body and I get goos pimples... yea
Or you could just buy a rad synth and record it first. Or find a keyboardist.
brilliant.
even if I buy piano pedal and mod ehx it will be cheaper. Freeze is also very responsive. Is this this pedal quick?
If you want slea then you'll show all sides of music Andrew!!!!! Unreal
Could you demonstrate how to use this to get effects like Dave Gilmore uses on shine on you crazy diamond acoustic?
0:54 Andy having that "Wow this pedal rocks face."
I see it puts a smile on you face
So, it's like an improvement on a Freeze pedal. With reverb added.
For $200 more i guess
When pianists and guitarists unite!
How about a Fender Bass?
YES!!!! I've been waiting for this!!! Do the plasma pedal by Game Changer next!!
As a guitarist who also plays piano, I'm seriously considering this pedal, as the pedal action would be serious intuitive for me. Perhaps may try my classical guitar through my acoustic amp as well. BUT - it appears that you probably can't do anything melodic with OD using this pedal. Total feedback loop incoming.
same here, started out playing piano..
how about you split the signal run a clean into the gamechanger unaffected by drive
@@tapilaha Could try that, yeah!
Does it have an FX loop for the wet signal so you can add some modulation or extra effects to just the wet?
Yes. Andy says at the start while describing the features
The way they make pedals today (esp. noisy, non-musical one's like Gamechanger) I thought I was almost done with my traditional set-up on my pedalboard, but now - I WANT THIS! I WANT IT AND WILL KILL FOR IT!
or, maybe I could call my Mom. lol.
Rad 👌🏿
This would be sick for drone metal.
How is this different from MXR delay echo?
Or you could use an actual piano sustain pedal with something like a Zoia, a Timeline, a Nemesis, almost any EXP-equipped thing capable of doing loops and/or delays in a customisable way. As a bonus, those things can also be what they were meant to be: delays and loopers. I’ve actually used a Hall of Fame 2 for that, reverb can also be cool.
this doesnt seem like a bad pedal but i feel like the procession pedal from Old Blood noise does the same thing, maybe even better, for a much more reasonable price
What a cool pedal. Unique.
nice
So this is basically an EHX Freeze with a switch that's made to be used that way and therefore won't break within a month of using it. I like it!
It also fades out more gradually than the Freeze (or the Superego). It's something that always irked me with the EHX alternatives.
It's all in the piano sustainer style design!
Very useful pedal.love a company not making clones of other pedals. Unique
Edad Martin it's like a shitty EHX Superego
Nick Haakman or the EHX freeze!
Woudn't call it shitty; but yeah, it's another freezer really
Or just a copy of a piano sustain pedal lul
I had a freeze... it's sustained note was always too brittle. I tried rolling back the tone knob, capturing and then rolling it back up, but it really was never warm enough as a drone for me.. always digital sizzly
That intro guitar song sounds like: Bye and Stuff from Scott Pilgrim vs the world
Andy's the enchanting wizard of pedals after all, and the amount is a small price to pay to support Baltic smiths' craft.
If this or EHX Freeze ever speed up the rate onbthusctype of pedal, I'd use it in a heartbeat. As they are, they sample SO SLOWLY, you can only get the samples at about 60-80 BPM. Useless for anything but super slow ambient type playing. I'm looking for quick comps for medium and up playing. Oh well, maybe someday.
This is really, really cool. Dang.
That is really cool. Is there any pedal that does the same thing for like, $30? haha
This goes a hundred times beyond a note freeze pedal. I cant believe this was not done 70 years ago.
How's it sound with distortion?
That Reverend sounds incredible
There is a great comparison between this one and the ehx superego plus, and the ehx sounds better and has more possibilities (effects only on the holded sound etc.) for less bucks. Seems like the gamechanger audio plus has some problems caused by the short loop it uses to hold the sound....sometimes you can hear it in this test...tested both self and decided for the ehx too...
this would be great for drone metal
This is a MathRock player's dream.
Im indonesian, where can i buy it in indonesia?
i need this, so cool but so expensive.. are there any good alternatives if you are on a budget?
The EHX Freeze Pedal actually. I had the opportunity to A/B them to decide if I really wanted the plus pedal... and I ended up really wanting the plus pedal. The freeze pedal is still a solid choice if you are on a budget.
@@theCoffinSeller thank you bro! I will totally get that one as soon as possible. Much appreciated dude!
Sounds great, looks fairly simple to use and would satisfy the pianist in me. But for $300+? That seems a bit high for something like this.
Small company in Europe, so with shipping and resources that's probably why. They're not a huge company, they're really responsive with emails and warranty. Super helpful. I just purchased mine on a discount, basically my Christmas present.
What reverend is that ? I love that sound and look.
Reverend Club King 290, it's in description ;)
Wow
Damn this gonna be Cool with my lap steel,,,just sayin””
neat
I wonder if David Gilmour has one of these yet. Imagine if this was around 30 years ago
I've always wondered what pedal he used in Pulse concert. Its function was pretty similar to this. He used that on Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Coming Back to Life's intros I guess
What's the name of the song he plays in the beginning? That sounds like Pink Floyd but I can't place the name of the song!
I was thinking the same thing!
Great pedal idea. Love the guitar by the way. What is it?
Check our video descriptions for a rundown of the gear used in Andy's demos. :)
Bill Frisell have just buy it. Sure.
Andy kicks ass!
Me gotta have one...
