So sorry for your accident Nadiana, you will still have a beautifull smile ! your little scar will fade dont worry i bet yoshi feels bad as welfor hurting his mum l, and you asked if anyone saw a green flash, when i was 8 yrs old i saw it i yelled out what was that and the only other person who saw it was my grand father he told me ''i saw it too its very rare and you may never seeit again as it was the first time he saw it that was 50 years ago and i still remember its magnificances hope you both see it one day ,hope you feel better atleast you have a good man to support you in your recovery -love your posts fair winds and smooth seas
When I was five, I had a very similar injury, I have 5 stitches but I only have a small scar now. Very brave to do it without any painkillers xxx

Doing a live TV promo with a Prairie dog in Lacrosse, Wisconsin in the mid 90s(Feb, 94) I was literally, chewed up on camera (including the mic cable, first) for a full minute live. I got 8 stitches in 3 different fingers and the next day went and picked up my first guitar. It was rough for a couple weeks, but when I snipped and pulled the stitches out 10 days later it was better. Mammal bites are the worst (a human bite can be deadly) I stuck with my venomous snakes and crocodiles from then on.
People keep animals, animals have mouths. It is the cost of keeping animals. Not Yoshi's fault and hopefully he recovers from being fallen upon.
Where is he anyway? Hope nobody retaliated against him for someone else's clumsiness.

Wow what a trooper I was so impressed with Nadiana (sp?) to begin with and love her winsome buoyant perspective I was so concerned for her and still feel so bad that she was hurt. Especially how she was hurt. I am praying for you guys (I know this happened months ago) I am sure the scar will not even be noticeable

Hope you are feeling better. Y'all did good. Mark, don't apologise for prices. Please continue because I find this very interesting. The pet-friendy hotel and pizzas were good deals. I loved that you were determined not to use the motor and were enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the sea. Too many people feel they must start the engine if they go under 5 or 6 knots. We were becalmed several times on our transatlantic crossing. Once we were passed by a turtle :)

Oh, that looked horribly painful Nadiana is such a tough cookie. If you were to ask a hundred sailors to guess how Nadiana was injured I doubt any of them would guess correctly. All goes to show with the best will in the world you can't predict the unpredictable.
But you can prepare so I Hope you two have a really comprehensive first off shore aid kit on board and if you haven’t already it may be worth looking at the HSE or MCA offshore first aid course, or if that’s too pricy it may be worth looking at te RYA or St John's first aid courses. And at the risk of stating the obvious, keep an eye out for infection Nadiana may need antibiotics, if the nurse didn't give her a precautionary does.
And thankyou for not punishing Yoshi he was only defending himself and I think you both understood that.

My wolf dog Ringo once bit me full in the nose. So I know and dog bites are no fun. Good luck and everything will be fine. The dog reacts instinctively and cannot do anything about it.

I am so sorry for Nadiyana's injury. I have no medical training at all. Nadiyana is so beautiful either way... but... if you are worried about the scarring, you could go to see a plastic surgeon for an opinion. Just to make sure that it will heal well. I don't know if I would be happy to have a nurse stitch me up on my face.... on scalp or leg or anywhere else, yes. I am just 20 minutes in and it looks pretty good on camera, but Nadiyana will be her greatest critic.
PS. I love that you go on about the price of things. Sometimes it feels like people just throw money away. Other times, I appreciate that you are able to find good deals or to show us that you are able to travel on a budget. So, please don't change that.

I know it sucks but keep things in perspective. If that's the worst cut you ever get offshore you've been blessed.
Nadiyana, scar or no scar you will always be strong & beautiful. Hope you redcover very soon.
Have tooth numbing cream. Over the counter. Buy stapler and sterile needles with thread.
Basic front line trauma first aid kits. Complete meds you can get. Always be ready for anything. Butterfly bandages and even “superglue” can hold skin together in emergency
I would have like to see more stitches with fine thread on that cut to stop scar. I know this is to late for this injury but my step daughter had same injury. Got 9 stitches and could hardly see scar when healed.
Same thing happened to me years ago. I startled a friend's dog and it got my top lip. Would have been worse if I hadn't been quick. Had stitches in my lip but don't even notice it now. As it had to be reported to the police I had to go to court to defend the dog's action!
So what medical insurances do you have?

I've seen the green flash a handful of times...I was a waiter at a beachfront restaurant and caught it there and out on the boat a few times. All happened in southwest florida.

I was afraid of what this meant and read the comments first because I hated to see either of you hurt. I don’t think I can watch this one. Nadiana, I hope by the time this was posted you’re on the mend. Prayers your was for quick healing.

It’s not funny at all but looking back at Mark trying to describe the cut lip he was thinking you were going to need plastic surgery with major work done and all it was is a busted lip 😂 I know it hurt very bad I’m just looking back now and getting a laugh from Marks professional opinion on major surgery and all you needed was a few stitches. Hope it heals quickly. I’ve had bad dog bites growing up, they hurt , get him fixed and he will live a happier life 🌹🙏
If you can't get to hospital, crazy glue works in place of stitches if you can get the bleeding to stop for a minute. You squeeze all the blood out of the area first with a cloth.
