- As someone who purchases virtually everything released officially by an artist I love, it's great fun to also buy bootlegs of unreleased studio recordings and live shows as well. I already did a video of some of my classic 70's vinyl bootlegs. Today, I purchased 17 bootleg CD's featuring Stones, Beatles, Who, Zeppelin, Dylan, Floyd and more. Check out this amazing haul purchased today.
I love collecting bootleg CDs. They are the perfect supplement to an artist’s official catalogue. Live concerts, studio outtakes, demos etc. Nothing like getting a package in the mail containing a factory pressed cd /dvd with music I haven’t heard yet.or a gig I attended from years ago.
You so nailed it. I totally agree. it's a thrill of loving music to dig deeper than just the official releases. No surprise that artists and labels eventually caught on. Thanks
Love the t shirt, to me nothing better than physical media
Thanks. Got it at one of their concerts. Blackmore's Night - really good stuff.
Talk about a bootleg bonanza! You really hit the jackpot with this haul. May you enjoy the rewards of being in the right place at the right time. Happy listening!!
Thanks - so far so good - great soundboards and radio broadcasts.
Boots are a parallel music universe and very diverse. I have boots by Jesse ed Davis. Roy Harper. Talk talk world party Duffy. Envy your score. I have an Allman boot of nothing but Duane rehearsing Idlewild south songs w.o. Gregg singing. Thank God. The 1980 wall concert by Floyd recently acquired a find. I used to get weekly catalogues from different countries in the early 90s. Zeps Brussels is the second best 1980 tour behind the Frankfort show. Zeps 1977 shows marred by heroin use. Best bets are the first fourth and fifth nights at l.a. forum.
Thanks got the tips. Psyched to hear the Zeppelin 80 show. Gotta check the other show I have. I really enjoyed it. May be the Frankfurt show. You told me about The Wall score. I live a couple of miles from the nasssu coliseum. Great memories.
Nice Bootleg Haul! I have that Quadrophinia boot and I also went to one of those shows at MSG in '96. It's a radio broadcast and not bad. I think I paid around $30 for it when it came out. Great deal! You can't lose at those prices.
Thanks. Wow. I didn’t know it was a radio broadcast. Haven’t heard it yet. Now I’m truly psyched. Was a great concert
Good stuff - nice find at a great price.
Thanks - yea great lucky find.
Great cd haul nice bootlegs
Yea really lucky find. Thanks
That Dylan boot is part of the Alimony Tour.
It’s absolutely fantastic. Shocked how good it is. Loved it
That's certainly a spectacular haul for $15, plenty of great listening there. I saw Floyd in Feb '77 and it was breathtaking (including inflatable pig). The tickets had the Wish You Were Here cover on them, as Animals was only just released.
What a live setlist that tour was. WYWH complete. Animals complete. Encore some Dark Side. Fantastic.
I saw the Floyd in 1967 a few week's after Arnold Layne got in to the chart's....
@@HTJB60 That's nuts. I was 4.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I walked out on them ! It was a DANCE VENUE !. Now you're gonna say you've never known anyone "walk out" on the Floyd... Back then, the group's played "Dance Venue's Circuit". I'd say 75% of us left for the pub's. The one's who stayed were probably 'student's' from the University..... What the 'Floyd' were doing on THAT Circuit, I can't imagine...... Definitly NOT the right venue's for them. BUT they did have a record climbing the chart's..... I KNOW you like these insight's......
Very cool stuff.
Thanks. Got lucky. Good finds
That is a awesome hall
Thanks - yea lucky right place right time - been a long while to find a haul like this at the flea market
I'm watching Alan, I'm watching.....stuff falling down 😂 It makes me physically ill when I see all of the good stuff you find and the prices you find this stuff at🤮 You make me feel so jealous 🤣 We don't have any place like that here to find great stuff. It's just not fair. You are a lesson in life not being fair 😜 You had great luck today. I am particularly jealous of Stones. You know I have never heard that bootleg from the Stones. I hear it's even better than Get Her Ya Ya's out. I also like how they did that bootleg cover. It looks like a Mobile Fidelity release 😝 Anyway, I will be looking forward to what you get next weekend with extreme jealousy in my heart😁
Sorry David, but at least Bob Dylan knocked down some other CD's. If it makes you feel better, don't believe the hype. Livr Than You'll Ever Be - is a classic bootleg and I love having it, but no, Get Your Ya Ya's Out is superior.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Thank you for making me feel better, Alan. I will be bracing myself for your next haul. I know your wife will definitely be bracing herself😂🤣
@@davidkunzli680 She's bracing to kick me out. My house is like 1200 square feet and 1/4 of it is like a record store....could be worse though, but with these CD prices, will get worse...lol
Fantastic scores Alan. Here we go again with the $1 CDs 😊. Love when that happens. I found about 15 myself this weekend. Can't stop when they are practically giving them away! Happy listening 🎶. Greg
They really are giving them away, and when we get lucky in the right place at the right time, it's fantastic. Problem is time to listen to them...lol
Nice haul Alan.I'm jealous not only for what you found but the price OMG very nice my friend
Lucky timing. Can’t wait for next weekend for more. Question is when will I get to listen to them all.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow you could retire and sleep maybe 4 hrs a night lol
@@thomaswery3087 oh wouldn’t that be nice Tom.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Question for you Alan.I was just going through my music and I don't remember how much you like Lou Reed. But I have the box set that came out in the 90's but I also have the 3 cds that came with the box without the booklet or box.I was just going to give it to my local record store but if you want it I will send it to you.
@@thomaswery3087 That's so nice of you Tom - I do have that box and lots of other Lou Reed. I came fairly late to him, though of course growing up I knew the big classics. Then I discovered The Velvets and fell in love and then went back to Lou. I don't have everything because I don't like everything he does, but I do have a lot. Thanks again for your generosity.
I'm having trouble finding alot of stuff on compact disc. No turntable anymore so I got rid of all of my vinyl. Finding alot of the prog stuff from the seventies can be difficult at times. Leonard is a great one. Wow!I have the I'm your man stuff on disc as well as several others by him..That Dylan Live is jam packed with music. Bet it's a good one..I am into Nick Drake ..Do you like him???
Yes I really like Nick Drake - great stuff. The Dylan bootleg from Paris from the "Budokan era" 1978 tour is amazing. I can't believe how great it is. Better than Budokan album - big band, tight, Dylan singing great and what a setlist.
cool stuff. what no Taylor Swift bootlegs? hahaha. Yeh VH i believe had a clause in their contract for the US fest they had to be highest paid so when Bowie got a million VH got a million and one dollar. Something like that. That concert is a popular VH bootleg, many versions exist out there with diff titles and artwork. I just sold off all of my VH bootlegs about a year ago. I never really listened to them and the time had come to start whittling away mt collection.
I was so bummed no Taylor Swift boots. Lol. I remember they had to get the highest payout. Love it. A dollar more than Bowie. You sold off your VH. Wow. VH to you is Stones to me. Wow. But I understand lack of space.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow actually selling off the VH stuff wasn't about needing space. just felt it was time to let someone else have it. i never really listened to the bootlegs. sold a bunch of collection. backstage passes. tour shirts. tour itineraries. 8-tracks. and all the boots... except i kept the very first VH bootleg I ever bought back in 1985. for sentimental reasons. Still got mores tuff I need to unload from the collection. just haven't had time to go through and set it all up.
@@STEVEHEROLD That is amazing. Passing along you're lifelong passion so others can appreciate it...well hopefully. I'm definitely not there yet.
Haul
Yea - and could've bought many more - probably will continue the buying next week.
Nice haul. Enjoy a drunk Diamond Dave at the US Festival. He sounds terrible. Ruined the whole set for me. Tell me what you think after listening to it. New to your channel. Liking the content. Take care!
Thanks so much. Haven’t heard it yet. Will be a while. Now I’m bummed. My first VH boot. Figured would be great for US Festival. Oh well will see. Looks nice though. Lol. Welcome to my channel. Hope you really like it. Best Alan.
Most
vanhalen boots from the Roth era have sketchy sound. The 1978 Oklahoma show and the 1979 Santa Monica civic and yours from us festival notable exceptions. I prefer David Lee roths 1986 shows with Vai and Sheehan. Found their Fresno show in xlnt soundboard for one dollar. Remember when boots averaged 20dollarsnamd up. Paid 55 for a radio show of McLaughlin Santana band s1973 brief tour.
Awesome - figured the US festival show has to sound great since the festival was professionally filmed and recorded. This is my first Van Halen bootleg and I much much prefer the Roth era - not really a fan of Van Hagar. My local record store sells CD boots and still pretty steep. So yea, when we find these cheap in the wild - fantastic.
I have been looking for boot cds and they are always so expensive. Did you purchase these from a private seller or online store?
I’ve never bought them online. I found these at local record fair. I also find them at flea markets and local record stores. Occasionally at yard estate sales as well.
Best bootlegs are Russian..the Starmark brand is brilliant.
I have some Russian ones but some are also releases of official stuff which to me is pirated vs bootlegs. I’ve seen tons of those two cd greatest hit’s Russian CDs but that stuff is released stuff.
