I'll be checking out part 2 for sure! Amusing bit about that gas-powered auger though. I'd be frustrated too if I were intent on ice fishing.

It depends where you fly in the world. Autel has minimal flight restrictions because these drones are often used by first responders. If a location is very sensitive (airport, government building, etc) then it may possibly become a no fly zone in certain countries.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I'm actually in Puerto Rico. I just purchased it from B&H Photo for an upcoming wedding near the beach in a touristy area. My drone pilot told me to go Autel because of the lack of geo-fencing. He told me DJI drones won't even let you put them up in the air if there's a restriction.
Waiting on my "preorder" to arrive. Another great video. I've noticed something with Autel, going back to the original evo, what I call the autel sky. I'll call it a warm blue, vs dji. Also their dynamic range from the beginning was incredible. Dji flew smoother and had "some" additional features, however, their drones were an overall very good performer.

Thanks. I think I'm the only reviewer on RUclips that actually reviews & flies every type of consumer drone on the market (camera and FPV). So if you love DJI... then every DJI drone has been reviewed on this channel.
Since you are asking, I would say for yourself the answer is NOPE. LOG mode is in the camera community, used by pros on their CANON, NIKON, SONY cameras in situations where the image has too much shadows and brightness (dynamic range), so they can shoot in a type of LOG format for videos and then use very powerful editing software to pull out detail in the shadows.

Hey there! ... one of the best reviews for drones here! Thank you! I'm trying to find out, which drone between "zino mini pro, autel nano and mini 2" can be operated in Russian language, their "fly" apps, that can operate in Russian. If you know by chance, that will be a big help, if you can reply. Thanks again for the great support you provide to community!)
The irony in this being dubbed a more beginner based drone, yet costs more than all the previous versions when new lol...! Still dope, but I wouldn't label it as that, it makes it sound like it costs less than most other drones for sale. My OG Evo and Evo II are still going great, but I'll give this one a shot too. 👍
Look to be pretty nice. I have a Mavic 2 Pro and I'm using it above all to do landscape photography. Since the Mavic 3 was released, I told to myself than, with my use, I'll be better to buy a Air 2S if I crash my Mavic 2. But seeing the specs of this Lite+, it seem it can be a good replacement to my M2P, when it will die (the later the better of course 😄 ) If you have the opportunity to compare the Lute+ and the Mavic 2 Pro in a future video, it will be really appreciated.
Based on your recent reviews, all of these latest Autel drones beat closest sized competitors, including DJI. However, the deal-killer is knowing that you're spending $1550 for a drone that's not future proof for the Remote ID broadcast requirement coming in less than two years...and that's a hard pill to swallow. Should we need to spend more money and effort to add a Remote ID transmitter to a $1550 drone? I think not. Autel needs to get Remote ID broadcast capability integrated into the 2023 models, and have an user option to turn off the remote ID broadcast if needed. As always, a great set of reviews Captain !
As always love the videos. Question time. I’m sure the company had thought of this, but how well will it perform running the highest quality video in areas where temperatures are high?
Also curious about autonomous flight modes. If it's "good enough" I'll buy this one in a heartbeat. If it really lacks the ability to avoid catastrophic failure or get any decent shot for brief "follow me" clips... I may still have to look to Mavic 3 or a separate drone? So tough to beat everything else with this one it seems.
I notice they have the new ones labeled as 2023 version. What is new about the new Lite +? I have two air 2S drones but trying to decide if I want to buy one of these for my next trip at the end of this month overseas. Thanks.
Nope. Most camera drones do not have FPV, unless of course you have a controller with an HDMI out that you can connect to goggles. Goggles are for the FPV hobby which is very different from the GPS camera drone hobby.
Very Cool I grew up in teh frozen north and I don't miss the snow but it's nice to see it -- Especially in a video! If I am a hobbiest -- I own a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom (never use the zoom part, only on accident and it scares the snot out of me as it looks like it's crashing.) Most of my flying is in the day -- some evening sunset shots. Would spending the extra money on the Light + be worth it or should I just go with the Light?
I noticed in many videos of presentation of this Drone, that the images have many Flicks, similar to the Porpousing of Formula 1 (F1), would it be the absence of filters, or some problem of the Image Processing Software? Could you do a video on drones for high speed recording? I've been trying to pick out a drone for some slight slow-mo stuff, but most drones don't advertise their highest frame rate.
Hi Steve, quick question. You said that the camera on this is better than the air 2s. Others claim the fact it only handles 8bit video with no Dlog makes the air 2s better. Can you explain the relevance of this to me (I'm not an expert) in terms of editing in post and overall image quality? Predominantly video will be the more important aspect for me. Thanks and keep up the awesome work. 👍
In the world of high end professional cameras (not drone cameras, which are pretty much action cameras), people use LOG format in PHOTO and VIDEO. So for someone like me, who is a pro photographer, when I use my pro cameras to film certain portions of review videos in bright sunshine or shade, I use LOG format. This makes your image out of the camera have no color and look very flat. I then have to take that footage and place it into my editing software and apply a LUT and then adjust the colors, blacks & highlights. In simple, what LOG is designed to do, is to give you more detail in the shadows and allow you to reduce the highlights that may be blown out. Since you are new to photography, this is a lot of learning before you can use it. Now for an ACTION CAMERA like the DJI AIR 2S and AUTEL EVO, there is no benefit because the lens and sensor on such drones is very low quality compared to a pro camera so there is no benefit to the end user. You would need a drone like the DJI Inspire 2 with removable lenses to make use of LOG in the way it was intended.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks Steve, that gives me greater perspective and context. That being the case, is there any reason why I might choose the air 2s over the Evo lite plus? For example are any of the smart features on the Evo not as good as the air 2s? (I know you are busy so after your reply to this I will not post any further follow up questions). 🙂👍
The auger commentary killed me. That alone was worth the footage you filmed. Poor guy. Hope he went home and figured out his gas-powered auger issues. 😅😂
Hi, what is the box that you use to display your viewer count and other messages? I would really like one!! All the best, Chris from the UK 🇬🇧 Thanks in advance ☺ 👍🏻
Captain Drone....Nice video :). For the $$$$ spent on the Evo Lite or Lite+, is there currently a setting in the app that allows the end user to transition to VR mode....I.E. Use a pair of VR/FPV goggles for flying?
Nothing of the sort since these are GPS CAMERA DRONES. If you want FPV Goggles, then you may wish to join the FPV Drone hobby. If not sure what the difference is, then just watch my video series entitled CAPTAIN DRONE FPV FOR BEGINNERS
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Very Interesting.... for the $$$ spent, you'd think Autel would spend the $$$ to include VR/FPV in the app software, like Parrot has done with the ANAFI. Thanks.
@@johnsnow2347 in the very old days with version one of the EVO they did just that. Currently only budget drones and the legacy Anafi and ole EVO include such a VR mode.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Apreciate the response...Yea, aside from the Anafi, its near impossible to find a drone maker that builds the VR feature into their app. May have to invest in the Triplet Pro tablet for best viewing. Thanks.
I'm not exactly sure what you question is. Are you trying to locate the photos/videos off your drone. They are on the micro SD Card. If you want to also have them recorded on your phone, I think you need to turn the option on in the settings. You can also transfer them to your phone.
How does the obstacle avoidance compare with the Skydio2+? Especially interested in having it following a cyclist or a runner through trees. (I know, you probably don't want to do that when it's -24C)
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yeah, but the camera on this one looks so much better. If the follow function is "good enough", I think I might sacrifice some autonomy to get the better video. I'm eagerly awaiting your review after the firmware gets updated.
Both are identical. However I really like the SMOOTH mode on the EVO. DJI should have never removed the TRIPOD mode and changed it for CINEMA mode (bad mistake on DJI's part).
Another well done video Steve! What SD card are you using for the 6K video? I'm getting some stuttering with the ones I use and they are supposed be really good. Samsung Pro Plus and Scandisk Extreme Pro.
Will the Evo Lite+ be a better camera option or the Evo Lite regular one? Since the lite has RYYB sensor and the lite+ has RGGB sensor but 1 inch camera sensor.
I have not done a full head to head comparison. However I can say that for photos, the EVO LITE+ wins as the photos are highly detailed due to the large sensor.
Im gona go to Iceland with a friend in about a week and we wanna buy a Drone to film some awesome scenery, but we're newbies to Drones and cant decide between this, the Evo Nano and the Dji FPV?
Hi Steve, I am thinking of selling my Fimi X8SE 2020 and getting an Autel. I wonder if the Autel has HDMI out so I can use my goggles? Could you please confirm if any camera drone has this option? Thank you
After a couple of hours flying the little thing I love it. However, who decided to make the controller voice speaking English wizzzz a verrrrry hard Dscherrman accent? Any French, Spanish or people from other countries here with similar experience? Is this part of the update they rolled out last week?
Nope, I do not recommend VR goggles for any drone. VR goggles are when you place your phone in front of your eyes. The problem with them is that all phones are different and many have latency. Latency can cause you to crash your drone unexpectently. Now if you are thinking of FPV goggles, that is a different thing and most are very expensive. FPV goggles normally don't work with Camera Drones.
I am waiting a bit on Lite+... Annoyed that the my V2 BIG (7.9" display - 2000 nits brightness 🌞) Smart Controller doesn't support ANY of the new Autel models. They don't have an ecosystem, but great drones.
Fact number one of why I want a Autel drone, It's bright orange. Fact 2 Xbox controller 😂 But you're right, why nobody except Autel get this!! It's more fun to fly if the controller feels better in our hands

@@chrisbee9164 Easy answer: Air 2s has better tracking and avoidance. EVO Lite+ has the better camera.
The auger commentary killed me. That alone was worth the footage you filmed. Poor guy. Hope he went home and figured out his gas-powered auger issues. 😅😂
Hi, what is the box that you use to display your viewer count and other messages? I would really like one!!
All the best, Chris from the UK 🇬🇧
Thanks in advance ☺ 👍🏻
I got it off of AMAZON. amzn.to/3AM3v4b
Mavic Air 1 came out Jan 2018 with front, rear and downward facing obstacle avoidance.
Love that intro music. What is that?
Thanks.
Super quality
Hello! there are no photo and video icons in the autel sky downloaded in ios
.What should I do to make them appear ?
I'm not exactly sure what you question is. Are you trying to locate the photos/videos off your drone. They are on the micro SD Card. If you want to also have them recorded on your phone, I think you need to turn the option on in the settings. You can also transfer them to your phone.
How does the obstacle avoidance compare with the Skydio2+? Especially interested in having it following a cyclist or a runner through trees. (I know, you probably don't want to do that when it's -24C)
SKYDIO 2 is a FOLLOW ME drone so it was built for one purpose... to follow you and avoid objects, so it is the best drone for that purpose.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yeah, but the camera on this one looks so much better. If the follow function is "good enough", I think I might sacrifice some autonomy to get the better video. I'm eagerly awaiting your review after the firmware gets updated.
In your opinion what drone flies better in terms of its stability and response? Air 2s or autel lite?
Both are identical. However I really like the SMOOTH mode on the EVO. DJI should have never removed the TRIPOD mode and changed it for CINEMA mode (bad mistake on DJI's part).
Video is clear
Another well done video Steve! What SD card are you using for the 6K video? I'm getting some stuttering with the ones I use and they are supposed be really good. Samsung Pro Plus and Scandisk Extreme Pro.
I just use your basic U3 Sandisk 64 GIG.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 : Thanks for the quick reply.
now THAT IS COOOOOOOLD !
For travel you’ll want a small drone under 250 grams. Find one in your price range that you can pickup before your travels.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Only 250 Grams? Are Drones in travel restricted to 250g?
@@jannickcst Yes. In some countries you must have a license to fly drones above 250 grams.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Ah that i was parcially aware of, Switzerland is especially annoying with that
Nice job thanks
Wowww this thing is amazing.
Hi Steve, I am thinking of selling my Fimi X8SE 2020 and getting an Autel. I wonder if the Autel has HDMI out so I can use my goggles? Could you please confirm if any camera drone has this option? Thank you
AUTEL does not have HDMI out
Great review...
Love the intro!
Where can I buy one in Canada?
After a couple of hours flying the little thing I love it. However, who decided to make the controller voice speaking English wizzzz a verrrrry hard Dscherrman accent? Any French, Spanish or people from other countries here with similar experience? Is this part of the update they rolled out last week?
So photos transferred wirelessly from the drone are less quality than from the SD card to a computer?
Only if you select that option. In PART 2 you will see the option to transfer the ORIGINAL files.
I didn’t think our eyes could detect anything above 4K?
Do you recommend on VR goggles for EVO plus?
what brand?
Thanks.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you so much!
What would anti flicker be good for?
Lights (street, city)... they all flicker, especially LED and the shutter speed on these cameras picks it up and your video looks weird.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Ohh, of course! That makes sense! Thanks, Steve.
I am waiting a bit on Lite+... Annoyed that the my V2 BIG (7.9" display - 2000 nits brightness 🌞) Smart Controller doesn't support ANY of the new Autel models. They don't have an ecosystem, but great drones.
What a great drone
Fact number one of why I want a Autel drone,
It's bright orange.
Fact 2
Xbox controller 😂
But you're right, why nobody except Autel get this!! It's more fun to fly if the controller feels better in our hands
Nice one
Damn that's nice
Autel need to step up on range on mid and mini range and make it $100 less. Battle it out with quantity then start offering the premium range
