I want to say something about the dark ages. It is considered dark from the perspective of Europe only. There was ignorance in Europe only, but not in the Middle East. The Middle East was ruled by Muslim Rulers and their science and technology were peaking. These are called dark ages because of religious reasons as well. Europeans after the fall of Constantinople learned a lot of scientific concepts from the Arabs and then developed on them. And fun fact: the times we call renaissance is also only for Europe because at this time Arabs were in their so-called dark ages.
I am consciously not saying anything about the other parts of the world because that will be very long.
My point is that a lot of history we learn, especially world history, is Europe centric and I think that we should try to learn about more perspectives too. I think it becomes more important for us as we are not in Europe and are not Europeans. I didn't want to make the last point because the version of history we should know should be not about the ethnicity of people, but unfortunately, it is and I feel sorry for this.
I was not trying to be condescending but if you felt that tone, then I must apologise for that. I hope you guys will take it in a positive vein and will deepen your curiosities instead of being disheartened.
    PS: Loved the initiative!

Now, most of the vaccines don't include the original strains of virus or parasite for which they are being developed. That's an inherently old technique. The modern way of developing vaccines is to include the messenger RNA into the vaccine so that the body immediately recognizes it to create anti-bodies. Only for certain cases, the traditional technique of injecting some virus/parasitic material is employed. Nice podcast BTW. :)

As a doctor I must say Biswa has good insight and high IQ. Kya padhta hai be. I think you people should have studied history and policy making than going for engineering. When will we as a country start aptitude based career choices. Respect for both. They could have easily put some joke n shit but these things mattered and will happen again in a slightly different manner.

Hey guys! This was an amazing listen! As a fellow trivia and Indian history fan, I had some ideas which I would love to see you guys talk about.
    1. Indian political history: from the formation of INC till today.
    2. Sports, particularly sports we were good in in earlier time: football from 1950-1960, badminton in the 80s and 90s, Amritraj Brothers in the 70s
    3. Indian cinema
    Expanding out to the world
    1. Unknown empires which were majestic in their primes: Olmec, Moche
    2. History of football, from the first world cup in 1930

Well there should have been a light on how south east asia has been tackleing the situations like pandaemics through centuries..
Even about "age of mahajanpads" there are little to no information about the scientific literature or practices done in indian subcontinent.
And also these history of dark ages were only dark for Europeans
Coz chinese and other middle eastern empires had their golden age as they were scientifically advanced
Before the "Renaissance age of Europe".
Also pandaemic of 1918 killed more people in indian subcontinent then the entire Europe...

**Just a correction: The Dark Ages that Varun was talking about which started in the 6th century were the literal Dark Ages and not the metaphorical one that he explained as ignorance and lack of science. So, it was literal because, in the 6th century around 536 AD, a volcano erupted in the Iceland, due to which most of the earth especially the Europe was covered in the volcanic dust which did not let the sunlight to penetrate the atmosphere. So, it resulted in a perpetual darkness up to 18 months. Due to which crops died and a worldwide famine took place which led to malnutrition, poor immune system and eventually The Justininan Plague.

    Great podcast! Keep it up.
One trivia about impact that TB has had on Indian History - Peshwa Madhavrao the first, who was grandson of Peshwa Bajirao and came to power in 1760 after Marathas lost the battle of Panipat died of Tuberculosis at the age of 27 in 1772. He was rebuilding the Maratha confederacy (Mughals were nominal rulers by that time, Peshwas ruled from Pune to Delhi-Bengal.) He had to scale back the unification efforts due to ill health. His death is considered a bigger blow to Maratha state than the defeat of Panipat. The efforts to cure him of the decease make a great story in themselves.
After his death the intrigue of succession derailed the entire Maratha power thus paving way for EIC's conquest of India.
