- The Indian Air Force is doing the heavy lifting quite literally when it comes to augmenting military capabilities in the mountainous terrain of the eastern sector. The Chinooks are not just transporting manpower but also firepower (the ultra-light Howitzer M777s) from one remote valley in Arunachal Pradesh to another, thanks to upgrades of the advanced landing grounds. I'd love understand from Nitin what advantages the Chinook has over the mi-26 which can lift twice as much (20 Tonnes) as the Chinook (10 Tonnes) and can transport 80 soldiers. The mi 26 is almost half the price ($20Million) of a Chinook($36million).

I think we all should be thankful to Modiji and the present government which is taking all the right steps towards securing our borders which otherwise we're totally neglected in previous governments. Today I have the belief that as long a strong government is at the helm No country would dare cast an evil eye on our motherland .
Love these reports on NE! Ihave just been back from patrolling Pt. 175 and pt. 176. This region has apathy of roads, and basic infrastructure. One has to trek 12 hrs through thick jungles and mountains, and cross various streams and rivers to reach the last village at these points bordering Burma. Hope the situation improves in the next 2-3 years.

We need pumped up forces at all time who are always ready for battle, for that we need massive structural reforms in our forces with huge focus on specialist wings and real war scenarios. The regiment and battalion system wont do much in todays warfare thus we need specialist wings of army focusing on a particular type of warfare.Right now we are in midst of war so we need to be war ready all time.

No Hardened shelters for Fighters and other aircrafts, sad the first thing china would do is launch a salvo of missiles towards these bases.

mi 26 can even lift chinook....only plus point with chinook is bettter stability and speed because of twin roter.
If they sanction India for Chinook probably they will be blacklisted forever for defence procurement. In 21st century there are multiple suppliers there no monopoly.
