- Two drastically different takes on this mic in one video. This went from one end of the spectrum to the other very quickly.

I got this mic and the material is very resonate. After I opened the mic and put some windscreen Inside the Mic, it reduced it by like 70%
Nice. It's solid besides the resonance
The Tibetan singing bowl mic! I would almost buy one to use as a musical instrument.
I had some fun drumming on it and the table....I may lay down some beats with it
Does this thing record 24 bit or not? Without technical specs.... this isn'nt helpful sorry. People want microphones that can handle 24 and it's so frustrating. It's so hard to find a decent price condenser mic with something other tjan a unidirectional pattern. Ine spec or another iz always missing. I need a minimum of a 96 Khz range. I cannot find what I need
This one has no info regarding bit depth sadly
It’s a pity about the ringing noise. Do you think a few layers of gaffers tape around the body would fix it? Thanks for making this video, mate.
I think that may help...gonna try some things
Obscure Mics perhaps something like rubber rings or other shock absorbers used to dampen vibrations? Good luck, let us know what you find. Steve.
Just got the Mic and have the same problems. Every tab on the desk or my mouse makes a "resonance" noise on the mic.
It’s really unfortunate on a otherwise usable microphone
@@ObscureMics the uhuru looks the same without the resonance problem ruclips.net/video/iG9qn3-ZlfI/видео.html
Nice find!
Moano maono same thing
I just got the boom arm kit version of this mic and came here to say you were dead-on about the resonance. It doesn't just happen with labial plosives (/p/, /b/) but also with lower voice frequencies. I have what they call a "bassy" voice, and listening to a recording of my own voice, I can definitely hear this resonance/metallic rumble whenever my voice produces bass. It's like lower frequencies make the chasis vibrate. I also find the sound to be a bit too bright for my liking. I have another budget mic (a dynamic mic though) which I've been using for a while now, Samson Q2U, which sounds a bit better in my opinion. I think for speech (not singing), streaming, podcasting etc. dynamic mics are the way to go.
Agree with you 100% . While I think condensers are a more accurate way to get that full spectrum....dynamics are the way to go for podcasting and untreated spaces. Q2U is a good one to just don't get things done
Thank you for watching

Thanks for your response. I was actually considering ordering the Marantz pm-1000 which is currently around 60$ before definitely giving up on budget condensers. I wish Samson made an XLR version of the G-track which my friend has and whose sound I really like for the price.
I like the G Track as well. Budget condenser.....Neat Worker Bee

If only it were in stock...
Would the pop filter have helped at all with the resonance when you make the 'P' sounds? Obviously it won't help at all if you hit it but perhaps the boom arm & pop filter would help?
I'd say marginally it would have. My apologies for not testing.
i have the exact same model, i use it to record music, it's a very got quality/price, the only problem is that metallic sound you can hear when you tuch it
Agreed
I bought this mic today and I'm a little confused. Is it normal for the gain to be all the way up (48v On) so that I can hear normally? (I'm with Scarlett Solo 3gen)
Not normal at all
Did you manage to solve it?
The resonance of the body is very easy to fix it, with foam. But the sound is really great!!
Agree 100%
I don't have that resonance with the kit that came with it. And definitely no metallic sound like you do. Maybe they got a new body really, cause I got it like a week ago and this review was two years ago.
Very possible. They have stepped up their game too.
Can we get a miniseries on experiments in trying to kill that resonance?
Hack an internal windscreen
line the body with dynamat
wrap the capsule in pantyhose, etc.
Could be a fun bit of tinkering to see what works and what doesn't.
I LOVE IT...it may be a while but YES
Hey I'm a beat maker but I also need good xlr condenser Mic for cheap to make producer tag or when vocal artist come over etc. Do you recommend it ???
Also I ordered the M-Audio 192/4 interface does that have phantom power to support this microphone if I get it ??
I can't really recommend this one...if not for the horrible metallic vibration I would
Look for an mxl 990 used if you are trying to stay in this price range
@@ObscureMics K thanks
not bad. it's a $20 mic with a whole lot of accessories.
I really kinda thought the sound was super solid besides the resonance
Obscure Mics I think it would be very usable if you learned how to talk into it correctly. But, of course that’s true of every microphone. I do agree it didn’t sound bad at all. Better than most at that price range.
It's sounds just as good as your sm7b...imo. aside from the steel drum handling sound. Don't need a cloud lifter.
I thought it sounded solid...not sure if I liked it that much, but my God yeah..steel drum
@@ObscureMics I got an idea. What if you were to take the guts out of a mic, and put it in a wood casing? Wooden speaker boxes had a warm natural sound, the same may be true for mics. Just be careful with the soldering iron, don't burn down the building!!
Oh man I love this! Yes yes and yes
@@ObscureMics the Louisville slugger mod.
Literally looking at pieces of wood as we speak. Lol if only the slugger was a little smaller with less slope
Which interface are you using there?
Rode rodecaster pro
Would you buy this at $80?
Nope
Hate it when they get one thing so wrong it makes the mic unusable.
Yep...that's that same alloy that's used all the way bottom to top...seriously a tuning fork
i think your ovedr cridicial on this tapping crap its mounted on a an arm and a table and that going to happen with any mic ,, your not going to be tapping stuff when your recording so this wont happen.. i can tap on any mic mounted in the same manor and get that crap happening and just to even tap on a mic your going to get that ding sound crap
Why you sound so angry? Just providing MY dislikes. They don't have to be yours.
@@ObscureMics my comment is blut and honest and to the point not anger as you asume,, i have also been working with recording gear for over 35 years
Ok. I simply wanted folks to know the biggest drawback of the mic, as I could hear the metallic resonance from simply talking into the mic. I won't please everyone, but I stand by my criticism.
@@ObscureMics the alloy its made of wont make a difference just so you know
Wow the tone is so annoying :D:D
