I wish they could do a Skyrim-like story for ESO, but wishful thinking, I guess. 🤣 Edit : And I beat WESTERN Skyrim a few or so weeks or so ago. Then a few DAYS ago, I finally whooped Rada al-Saran !!!!
That's actually really cool, because it means that all of their maps exist in the same world space. So really, with some tinkering, someone could make a completely seamless version of ESO's Tamriel.
Imagine a modern Daggerfall. Whoa.
I remember watching a video shortly after Skyrim originally released and they no clipped through the barrier and what was discovered was something similar however the narrator noted that the rest of the map only had land textures only and some scaling of whole portions of the landmass would vary wildly from official maps and such I’m just happy that someone was able to do in eso I’ve alway wondered if Bethesda just kept using the same map as a kind of reference for there other games
maybe, but these town doors are min instances within a bigger instance. zones are their own instances... they are not connected or else it would add sooo many different variables and unnecessary server stress. what's more likely is that those instances used for story quests are within the zone somewhere on the map... like when *spoiler* solitude is under attack. and of course the little rooms you teleport into with a mini loading screen... those are somewhere on the map as well.
For a second I got excited that they are preparing Whiterun xD
developers purposely render those outside areas for when they are ready to use them in most online games, makes it easier to use if there is already collision

There is also a secret place in alikr desert somewhere that only nightblades can visit with the shade ability and there are holes in the ground that teleport you to diffrent cities of Tamriel
It's interesting that the instance is actually rendered in the world and you can run to it by breaking the map. I figured the instances were completely separate and there would be no way in world to get to them without using the door aka portal.
The original idea, was to have a completely open world, no load barriers.
@@overlordoakenheart6672 unfortunately that can't be done, otherwise they would lose half of their player base or more because their machines wouldn't support it.

Would be careful with stuff like this. It's utterly stupid, but people have been banned for stuff like this in other games.
@@lunakoala5053 it's interesting though because you can just travel there on foot. No one has to hack themselves in to the area. Hopefully no one gets banned for this one thing. I understand it for some other stuff though.
@@ThreeTCreations Yeah, but you could get to the GM Island in WoW in a similar manner and people DID get in trouble for it.

I got outside the map in imperial city and it was super tripping they had the districts names scorched into the checkered ground surrounding the city
To explain what's happening when you enter solitude you're not actually entering where the door is solved it is it teleports you to a different part of the map where they store the location of solitude so it doesn't have to load all the background elements so when you're in the water underneath solitude you're in the part where you would be loaded in to the town itself
Yup everything is on the world map. It's just far enough away that it doesn't need to render everything on the outside. That's how "instancing" works.

The fact that they're using that area to store instances tells me we probably won't get that section of map filled in. Damnit I wanted whiterun!

You can do this in riften near the vampire shrine atleast back a few years ago and the land had no textures it was just white and grey squares ended up walking beyond cyrodiil then the map drops down its was a trip
This gave me some real modern warfare 3 out the map care package slide vibes

Nothing new here, there are many gaps in the eso world. Even a unfinished town in cyrodiil. But these are fun clitches to explore.
He didn't even head to the out of bounds area the right way, he didn't have to climb the mountains he could have went through the valley. Sucks that this is going to get patched my friends and I have been going there for a while to have fun and test stuff out.

How does someone not have soul gems?
This explains some of their lag problems. If they made this its own zone, this would lower lag.
Well I mean it's in a usually not accessible area. Shouldn't do that much of a difference? It's not like there are (usually) players running around, there are no mobs to process, the environment isn't rendered...
I'm no MMO expect, but I don't see it affecting performance much.
@@lunakoala5053 On client side it's helpful, like you said you have less moving objects but server side everything is tracked in the game and also the more layers of terrian the more load it puts on the server. They could do the same thing by making the space unused in the zone as just empty space, no terrian but what you could view in the distance within the city. What they did was sloppy.
@@nanfoodles yes but there is nothing to track. The server doesn't have to actively track passive terrain.so long nobody goes there out of bounds, there is nothing to track Serverside.

So where will the solitude instance go if they add a mid skyrim dlc zone?
I am guessing because its a different zone loaded so the solitude won't be. As they are not in that zone.
I'm thinking the map of Tamriel isn't actually how the game is laid out, it's just many instances connected together by door or wayshrines that don't always exist in the same plane, or if they do, not where you'd imagine it. Solitude in this video being a perfect example. I can't imagine that if they kept riding east they would find any of the Eastern regions of Tamriel.

yep, if you buy the "premium road textures" dlc the purple road gets a normal road texture.
