@@crazysilly2914 - I don't agree. Nothing against R&R, but with drums & bass, you get a very cool update of JLH's music, with added rhythm & groove (when they knew how to back him, that is) - BUT it's still blues music.
@@snakehips81 yeah traditional blues is just guitar and vocals, rock and roll also has that drum section and bass in it, but the guitar part of rock is heavily inspired by blues guitarists
@@crazysilly2914 - “traditional blues” ? I think you need to learn more about all the sub-genres of blues and their time-lines across the last 100+ years, as they did not all necessarily evolve at the same rates, in the same regions of the USA, nor in the same decades. There is a wide diversity of styles within the blues genre. Bands were forming in at least the 1930’s, and certainly by the 1940’s - way before anything morphed into rock’n’roll. Respectfully, t’s just not as simple as “traditional blues” turned into R&R
Thank you, Boogie Chillin' John Lee you were an awesome dude and then some!! I'm so happy that you came in to shop at Ben Turturici's San Carlos, CA. And we became friends.....sweeeeeeet!!
The riff to John Lee's song Boom Boom song was one of the first blues riffs I learned how to play on guitar. Muddy Waters' Mannish Boy song riff was the first. 🎸🎸🎸
I kept thinking the h was on R and was like, “what the heck is going on here!?! WHO’S JORN!?! Want till the end when I finally s noticed the similarity of the letters and how my mind tricked me there. lol this is great! Love the art!
Discovered this song from a fallout 4 old world boston radio mod heard this playing in galaxy radio had to write the lyrics in the search bar to find this song took me about an hour worth it!
I have just never been impressed with j l h . Now howling wolf, chester Burnett knew how to lay down a real groove. Basicly j lh just played the same rhythm groove over and over again. Whats the big deal.
And from that moment, John Lee Hooker became the coolest blues musician in existence !
Always has been always will be
and drums and bass and you got rock n’ roll
