Congratulations on your first show. Your video is terrific, as well.

Thank you very much for your compliment. I was so worried about the show and spent several weeks planning for it and then was pleasantly surprised when I made some sales. Making videos it’s a lot of fun for me and I know that I tend to have a very flat voice so I try to make it interesting.

Great set up! Thanks for the comprehensive video. I have a two day arts festival coming up in October, and will definitely use the elastic to keep the wind from blowing the canvases off the displays!

Thank you! The elastic was a life saver. We tried clear fishing line but couldn’t keep it taut. We got a large spool of the elastic on Amazon. If time allowed we’d planned to tie the elastic on before the show. Best of luck at your show!!

Your set up looks great! I have the same problem with things being too heavy or too big for my car. I like your solution with the elastic!

Congrats on your art show... I love the idea of the cost/tax cheat sheet.. I wonder if it goes the same for a flat rate

I used a calculator to figure it out. My state taxes are 4.75% and my local taxes are 2%. Having been a teacher for many years everything I do is left to right and using the cheat sheet forced me to go right to left, that’s why it was difficult to use. My next sheet is just going to list prices not necessarily for each item because there were times that I gave people deals. And of course when I combined more than one item I had a total - it’s just a work in progress! I took the advice of a fellow artist who said make sure your prices round up to zero that way you don’t have to keep up with giving coins back as change.

@@agould105 agreed.. I like a solid number.. i sell my coasters in a set of 4 for $25. I know many charge more however the flat rate seems to work better.

Thanks Anne, this was very helpful! Did you end up selling any canvases at all?

Unfortunately no canvases sold. However the jewelry and ornaments did sell. I had several ladies come and get one pair of earrings and when I told them they could get a discount for getting more they immediately went back and got more so that was a real selling point. I also sold three pieces of glassware. I think it’s really important to have a range of prices in case you have kids buying they’re only going to show up with may be five or $10 so you definitely want to have some items priced at that level.
