    Just started watching your channel about a month ago. Your editing and comfort in front of the cam have come on a lot over the year or so that you have been vlogging. Also since Nick 2 started making an appearance, just having someone else to buzz off of can make a huge difference on a videos entertainment value. You’re making great content mate, keep going.

      Thank you mate. I'm leaving my old videos up deliberately so people can see how it has changed. It'll be 2 years in about 4 months since I made the first video. I started with a mobile phone both filming and editing to see if I'd like it, which I did then I spent big. Then I had to learn how to use a camera and edit properly which of course I'm still learning. If I can get 10k subs in 2 years that will be some achievement.

    You know Nick, I think this is one of the first VLOGS I watched of yours, a couple of months ago. I have to tell you, you have come leaps and bounds and beyond. This was a good VLOG but now I hope you are not putting too much pressure on yourself to create BBC quality stuff every time. At some point I want to be able to have a beer with you and not having to go through your agent. LOL,,,Good on you, you should be really proud of yourself. I hope you take this as the highest compliment. Cheers.

      Tony you're a gentleman, thank you. 🙏 Yes I'm leaving the old vlogs up so everyone can see the difference and how I've progressed. The old vlogs were made on my phone including editing.
      This past almost 2 weeks I haven't done much due to illness and it's bloody frustrating me. I can edit for England at the moment but I can't really get out and film. I'm working on one now but I keel the bar has been set so high I can't just knock up a quick video.
      Don't worry there'll be no agent lol and when you're here I'll see you for a beer., thanks again for your kind words
      . 🙏🙏👍

      The two bedrooms are more expensive same as when you buy they’re like double the price. I’ve seen my size going for 50,000B for two weeks but over long term rent 6 months or more you’re looking at about 27,000B per month. As for looking after the room it’s a condo so just lock it up and I always leave a key with jurisdiction office in case they need to get in.

    • @NDTViThailand

      Yeah it’s the source of many complaints due to lack of sun beds but in the The Base’ defence, it’s a condominium for residents not a hotel. Unfortunately, and fortunately if you own a condo due to rising prices, The Base is number 1 on the Chinese TripAdvisor. Now they’re very decent and well behaved Chinese clearly middle classes, but there’s many.
      This vlog is 18 months old i recently spent a day filming a new vlog only to accidentally wipe my SD card clean by putting into another camera only for that to reformat it wiping my data.😢 It was too late I’d already arrived back to the UK when I realised what I’d done. I should be back within 3 weeks so I’ll do another as I want to rent my unit on a long term basis.

    One of the smartest real estate purchases in Pattaya! Considering either The Base or View Talay 6 as a home for retirement one day. I've stayed at VT6, but this place looks better. VT6 does have little convenience stores/coffee shop/ laundry shops on the first floor. Does this have something similar? Thanks!

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  6 лет назад +1

      No shops Oscar but there are other facilities. I thought it would have been nice to have a bar/restaurant on one of the tower roofs.
      I’ll be posting an updated version 2 years on a week tomorrow. 👍

      @vaubanrealestatepattaya--v7641 6 лет назад +1

      As a rental investment definitely one of the best option in Pattaya but a retirement place no way if you are looking for something quiet. Rooms are quite small and the layout is terrible (at least for the one-bedroom) and it is full of short terms rental and the entrance and lobby looks like a hotel with dozens of Chinese tourists with their suitcase. Yet concerning the location, it is great.

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  6 лет назад

      When it came up for sale Sansiri had a huge launch party in Bangkok and sold every unit out in the first two days. They had to hold back two floors (12A and 23) for the Pattaya launch a week later. About 18 months later the Russian economy collapsed and that brought about 400 units back online and these were snapped up by Chinese investors. It’s currently number one place to stay on the Chinese TripAdvisor in Pattaya which doesn’t help. Due to the prices though they are middle class Chinese and I haven’t had a problem ie I haven’t seen any of them spit lol. The Chinese are also snapping up The Edge units which is another Sansiri project being built next door and this is making prices rise. If the Chinese housing market collapses this will send shockwaves throughout South Asia on a biblical scale.
      Mine is a two bedroom unit and I only bought it because there’s more room and as far as the planning goes I think it’s quite good. Small yes (less to clean) but the cupboard spaces is excellently designed in my opinion.
      The only downside I agree is the amount of people coming and going. We had a residential vote on this 6 months ago and I voted to stop it and apply the law as in 6 month minimum contracts but I’ve heard nothing of it yet. I do believe it will be stopped because it is illegal.

    Reference the renting, it is illegal to rent at The Base unless it is 30 days or more and that goes for most of the condos in Pattaya not all but most, it depends if it is classed on the deeds as a condo rental or just a condo.

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  6 лет назад +2

      That is pretty much all condos and yes they have signs at the entrance but I’ll guarantee you it’s ignored especially amongst the Chinese. We recently had a vote with regards to rentals and I strongly voted against daily rentals but it is not being policed.

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  6 лет назад

      Tbf though Jason, last time I looked you can go on any of the booking websites and book as many or as few days as you want, so I’ve never understood those rules.

    • @jasonowen8193
      @jasonowen8193 6 лет назад

      Yes i agree with with you mate, it is confusing, the condo at the base i am going to rent, you can only rent for 30 days or more on airbnb, but thats a private rent,so i guess the person renting it is trying to comply with the rules and the laws but on agoda, booking.com you can only rent up to a maximum of 30 days. so i would guess it is up to the owner of the condo to take responsibility.

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  6 лет назад

      If you don’t mind me asking Jason, what size room, for how long and what price are you renting for? I’m looking to rent out mine but long term 6 months plus.

  • @somluck2813
    @somluck2813 4 года назад

    I looked at The Base 6 months ago. I just walked in off the street. There were 4 tour buses parked inside the condominium.
    There are signs stating that there is no short term rental as per Thai law. But I asked at juristic person office anyway. The answer was there was short term rental, but they poi me a shady looking lady lurking next to the office. She was an agent for some condo owners and getting a short term rental for a couple of nights was no problem.
    Thus given that information, the tour buses, the availability on Agoda and Booking.com, I would say getting a short term rental there would be no problem.
    I promptly crossed The Base off my list as I did not want to live in hotel filled with hotel guests.

    I agree on the point you were making regarding negative comments on the housing market in Thailand, and that they usually come from people who have lost money. But wouldn't you agree that, because of inflation, buying a unit in a new project is a lot more profitable than buying an already existing one from an older project? It's also why there are so many new projects all the time in SEA, even in poor areas.

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  7 лет назад +1

      I agree. Bare in mind I also bought this pre Brexit when the pound was higher than it is now although it has recovered some ground. As in anywhere I also believe it's about location and The Base is one of the best locations. I've been going to Thailand for just under 25 years I am actually married to a Thai who's educated and has a great job she has her own money, so the ripped off part is down to you and who you trust because personally I've done well financially in Thailand in various investments.

      Thanks Daniel, yes I am lucky but I chose wisely after years of going and see the way things work. A bit of a long gap this one but I'm heading back in July and traveling to the south where I used to live working has a scuba instructor, but it's 10 year's since I've been so should be interesting. I filmed and edited all this on my mobile phone and I said if I enjoyed it i would buy better equipment. I have enjoyed so I have purchased new cameras plus a MacBook Pro so once I get my head around it all I'm going to make far better quality. Thank you for your comments Daniel much appreciated.

    good video, how is the quality, tiles, doors, windows???
    can you open window at night and sleep with a fan?, what about mosquito?

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  7 лет назад

      The doors are solid and wide for disabled, floors are a good quality laminate which will do for perhaps I'll tile later - balcony is tiled. Windows are double glazed and tinted to a decent standard.
      I am 23rd floor I've never seen a mosquito up there and once a month they spray the building for other bugs and insects. I took the early option with discount so practically moved in straight away one of the first and surprisingly I had ants all the way up there, but since they started pest control never had a problem.
      I could sleep with windows open and fan but my side of the building gets sunrise so it's too hot in the morning. After 10am I'm shaded all day it is the cooler side.
      I believe it's the next one down from the highest building grade.

    • @penn65000cycling
      @penn65000cycling 6 лет назад

      enquiry about mosquitos -this may sound odd but mosquitos prefer to be nearer ground level and not above 5th or 6th floor- the insect prefers still air and a fan disturbs their flight path- I booked a single room 31 sq metres for November 2018 before I decided to read through the comments. Not everyone is thrilled to stay at the Base- pool can get packed-no food or bottles poolside-constant security patrols- its like being in school- View Talay 6 Condo room size is 45 sq metres 18 metre pool length- about 15 metres wide- wide choice of shops-coffee-snack bars (brand new one opened April 2017)-massage shops-full laundry service- better atmosphere. Base is soulless-no buzz- some new arrivals complained about waiting 2 hours in the hot sun to satisfy security red tape

    Hello mate, just to let you know, I rented a one bedroom apartment in this same condo tower B in August 2018 for a week and believe me or not, my wallet was stolen from the security box inside of my room, horrible experience unfortunately

    • @NDTViThailand

      NDTVi Pattaya I believe it was a person in charge of the apartment (not the owner). I called this person to explain how it works the security box cos the manual was in Thai, so I wouldn’t understand, she said “don’t need the PIN number just use the key of the box”, that’s what I did and would never expect it’d happen. When I checked my wallet wasn’t there anymore I called the woman in charge, she wouldn’t answer, so I texted her explaining what had happened and then the owner called me very worried about this incident. Anyway the security of the building sounded very very dodgy as well, be aware of them mate!

      Yes, there is a "security" check point at the entrance of the project but, if they recognize you as a resident they don't ask for any documents (you or guest). If you're having a "friend" meet you, you will need to meet them at "security" front of the building. You can't access any floors of the building if you don't have a key card for the elevator!

    Hi Nick. Being an owner at The Base, is there any chance you can have a say in getting the body-corp to clean the windows around the infinity pool ? That pool and view are the show-piece of the condo, and they haven't cleaned those windows in at least 18 months. People just can't see through them now, and they are getting worse. Surely labour costs are cheap enough to get the windows cleaned ? Just a thought.

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  6 лет назад +1

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  7 лет назад

      I have let this go on a monthly basis for way lower than the average price they go for here. Reason why is it's a friend I trust who works here, actually already lives in The Base but room is too small. 25,000 baht per month, elect will cost 1,500 per month and water 300 baht per month. Elec is dependent on using aircon. Annual communal fee is 25,000 baht. It sits here empty because I like in the UK and this year I have something on and may not have the time to get back so rented it out for equivalent of £550 per month but normally can easily get £800 plus.

      Gas, I bought it off plan meaning before they started building for 4.25 million but now worth about 6 million baht. You can get 1 bedroom for 3 million baht but in Thailand an extra bedroom doubles the price. Some big things happening to Pattaya next year ie it gets its first gambling license so prices will rocket.

    • @NDTViThailand
      @NDTViThailand  6 лет назад

      48,000 on here but to be fair I’ve rented it out much cheaper than 35,000. The extra bedroom really puts the price up.

    Stayed in Building A, Floor 29 on November 2019. The site is constantly flooded with Chinese tourist. I would hate being an actual resident in the building. All the common areas, especially the rooftop pool, are constantly filled with loud Chinese. The room I stayed in wasn’t up to my standards. Floor had water damage, portraits missing from wall, TV nonfunctional, kitchen in disrepair. Shabby throughout. I’ve stayed in much nicer accommodations for the $33 bucks/night I paid through AirBnB.

      Building A is a non starter for me it's the busiest out of the 2 towers and where most tourists stay this is due to the rooftop pool. I went to the 5th floor in Tower A 6 months ago I couldn't believe it was the same condo block it was very shabby. Chinese own most of building A.
