There are a lot of routes in this game, and you can choose some of them until the end of the game. This video shows you all secret routes and triggers to decide the route.

The best part happens next when James watches the whole thing with Tower biting the guy and still asks "what is it?" at first I thought he was referring to Tower but then I realized it was a delayed response to the man crying for help!

I always loved how we just leave the rescued people without atleast escorting them somewhere safe. I know there were only 4 agents for a big ass city and they kinda had other priorities, but still, what are the odds that those citizens aren't going to bump into another groups of zombies 10 seconds after? xD
I guess we assume all zombies leading up to that point are dead, so if they went back through the path we came from, they should be fine. Still, that's stretching it.
Love how they just leave the civilians in the zombie infested waters after shooting like 4 of the millions of creatures there haha
Also I think James and Gary were the closest agents on scene and were blitzing to the cause while other AMS agents including Rogan were clearing up the city behind them, since you meet up with in in the good ending of the game
Well honestly after you save them the person, and zombies are all unloaded from system memory. So none of them even exsist any more lol.
*PLOT TWIST:* If one water pathway that I vaguely recall is any indication, the civilians really don’t deserve you going the extra mile for them.
A zombie pulls you into a river/waterway, at which point you start drifting along with the current while continuing to shoot at any zombies you pass by. You still pass by some civilians (who are ALL either on land or in boats) being accosted by zombies, and if you succeed in saving said civilians, they will wave to you and say “thanks for saving me” as usual... but not one of those lazy ingrates will make any attempt to help you out of the water, even though you just saved their lives! The civilians in question are all able-bodied, relatively healthy adults who could help pull you out if they really wanted to, but instead they’re all more than happy to just wave at you like idiots and leave you to continue drifting helplessly in zombie-infested waters!
Well if that’s how it’s going to be, they’re on their own. 😡
I'm more surprised that it only takes 1-4 agents with a handgun to wipe out a entire city filled with zombies.

Something to add note that every path the player must choose, the player will have some sort of trolley problem scenario, like if you don't save the driver at the beginning of chapter 2, the little boy 2:35 will die.
Also if you let the little boy die you can save the two girls in the house. It really drives in the fact that you can't save everyone
@@controbot2557 Actually one boy and one girl (likely his elder sister). And yeah you're right, you can't save entire civilians in Muddy chapter. 1:51 is where only one family can be saved:
Path A, if you save a boy that was chased by a fat zombie, you can save his father, but the boy and the girl who are trapped in the house will die.
Path B, if you let boy die, his father will die, but you can save both the boy and the girl who will later grief over their mother's dead body.
@@ernestw2474 I actually thought it was two girls because of the voices lol. Anyways it's not just the two families that you have to choose.
In path A where you saved the driver, you'd be dooming the girls in the building, the man and woman in the ruins section and the girl locked in the tower.
Path B dooms the families, the man in the well and the guy being chased right before you get to sunset bridge.
Also, not shooting the key means leaving the same as Path B (except for the guy in the well, you can save him if you shoot the cabinet)
It really gives you a sense that you can't do everything and save everyone even if you tried really hard.

Kinda makes you think though. If you take an alternate route because you saved someone, that means the people in the route you didn't take dies. Likewise, everyone in the route you take cos you saved someone dies if you don't save someone and take an alternate route.
Simply put, no matter what, you'll always have civilians die on you regardless of who you do and don't save. You never really think about it while you play.
That sucks. Thank goodness HOTD3 and 4 did away with rescuing civilians.

The first 2 games of HoTD is the best because the dev put their heart and soul in it.

1 & 2 has tons of alternative routes, Boss mode,... I feel like they put a lot of effort & passion into it.
3 is fun & a good game, but I don't feel the great passion like 1 & 2.
To know which game is really good, try counting how many time you replay.

I always loved how there were so many different routes you could take just for two bosses
You know what would be cool? If the endings we got were tied to how many civilians we save. It would make sense, because we go through different paths, and they would be like shortcuts, allowing us go reach the destination faster. That could make us either be too late to stop Goldman, reach just in time to beat the Emperor in its full power, or arrive early enough to face a premature Emperor, which isn't fully powered yet.
There's an ending where G and the other two AMS agents and all the civilians you rescued greets you after finishing the final boss.
@@paulstephensia1412I guess you're wrong about the civilians waving their hands. The number of civilians you saved doesn't play any role. I think it's scripted because recently i've tried not to save civilians deliberately (there was only 1 child in the 1st chapter who i decided to save). So, it was co-op mode and in the end i got normal ending xd

@@reximus8356 that means you unlocked a different ending the endings differ the bad ending you see Goldman as a Zombie
The normal ending is when the people waves at you and the good ending you run into Rogan telling you that Amy, Harry and G are alright and they shall proceed to the next battle.
@@reximus8356 to achieve each endings depends on points number of continues and how you played the game.
@@paulstephensia1412 If I'm not mistaken there is no chance to get good ending in co-op mode when both players have approximately equal score, right?

Wow, and this video was made in 2020! I love how this game became a cult favorite thanks to excellent gameplay and atrocious voice acting.
The 2nd map is the biggest and has so multiple routes, it is the best map in THOTD2. Funny how in order to save 7 civilians and get 2 lives HP, you have to let the first one die.
Yep, I always don't save that driver since I could save more people in a different route.
This makes me really appreciate the work that goes into these games.

I always been mad about the fact that the chapter 5 starts at the same place no wonder if you get to STRENGHT A or B. It would been great for conclussion if you had to go from another way to find Harry's car or find it in another direction and mix both paths before de 2nd Jugedement encounter.

The glitch with Johnny falling into the water was pretty hilarious but I also got a kick out of the zombie dying on the boat at 9:53! Almost looked like rag doll physics XD

In the beginning, you also end up going to Chapter 1-A if you saved the Girl, but fail to save the second civilian.

Also, when you encounter Worm-like creature enemy (I forgot the name) for the first time, look at their colors.
If you failed to rescue the civilans, their color is brown and white. However, if you succeed to rescue both of them, their color is green. Strange 😐

4:34 Is way better than going through the gate and ended up screwing your game after Bob murdered a child and then you'll head to the apartment and failed to save a sister and a little daughter again.
I finally just learned that you need to shoot the rats in each level to have the ability to shoot open the secret doors. For so long I would wonder why sometimes you could shoot the doors open but most times you couldn't. Also I noticed you missed the secret door on the left from the first level, during the 2 zombies you fight before saving the woman at the end hanging above the dumpster, there's a door on the left you can shoot open. And old lady will greet you and will normally give you a top tier item.

I think a remake for 2 is on the way. HotD1 remake released recently. First on switch, and now on other platforms and Steam. From what I've heard, there's lightgun support for PC 😁
