- This video shows 39 secret items and places, from "The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return" (Consumer version). There is a Original mode in HOD2 consumer version that player can bring special weapons. There are a lot of special items which are hidden in stages. I found every item this time. Please enjoy watching !

You can get it if you have grenade launcher, and break a door in Chapter 4.
In addition, there was a one more secret around 3:50. We can break the door which is near bonus life with powerful weapons.

You missed some hidden rooms, Kaz. For example after you rescued the civilian after 5:50, you head right. Shoot the background door with Shotgun or Grenade Launcher to open it

- 1:31 don't shoot the padlock to take the other route, eventually you'll get down some stairs, with a cat on the right. Shoot the mouse to get an item.
- 3:37 you can actually shoot that door on the right open to get an item. Needs a good power-up to open but sometimes the door simply won't open.
Lastly, in Chapter 2, in the jewelry store, when you enter the room with the TV talking about Sunset Bridge, shoot the cat and the camera rotates left ang you can get an item. It only happened to me once, so I'm not sure how to trigger this, but I can swear it's true !

Another reason why House of the Dead is the best light gun series. The amount of secrets in the game increases the replay value dramatically.

Another thing about that last one you did, the room with the two items, I think the tougher the level, the better the clothing item you can get. Rumor has it you can get either a Rogan costume or a G costume from that room

The items is changing if you keep pressing the load state in android version of dreamcast repeat it you get the item that changed

The door on the right at 3:44 when I play using Shotgun and I shoot at the door, I got 1/4 life 2 times. You will need to save a civilian on the boat first.
You missed one , at level 3 . 3:45 shoot the gate with strong weapon. the door will open.

What does the airgun actually do? And the first aid kit? Not sure I ever used those ones. I know the toygun just sounds different (not sure if it's stronger or faster than normal). I don't even recognise the room the airgun's in.

Yes, they are. You can find all of them in the Dreamcast verion's Original Modem, too.

you need the shotgun to open that door. I got the shotgun from a later level. Drove me mad for years!
I need to know where the save files are stored pc version? There are all .bin files, no text files, there's a player1 file but it's .bin.

Wait was this in the original release arcade version? I thought there was only one gun... What do these items do?
Nope. This was on the Original mode which can be played on the PC and consoles version of the games.
There are quite a lot of items you can get. From simple things like more continue, life, or ammo. Different costumes you can wear. To different guns you can equipped. Here are what items do if you use them.
Credit +(number) / Life +(number) / Chamber +(number) : Addes to their total count respectively. Since otherwise you will be stuck with three lifes and five continues.
Power Up 1.2 / 1.5 / 2.0 and Bullet Blow. (Death Bullet in Japanese I assume) : Multiply your damage base on the number. (Like for 1.2 you will make 1.2x more damages than normal) With Bullet Blow pretty much one-shot kill most enemies and do heavy damages to bosses. There's also Life 1/4 which decreased zombies health by 75%.
Characters Costumes : Make you become other characters in the games. Even including Bruno from Zombie Revenge.
Primitives Meat and Rotten Meat : Essentially this game's DK Mode for civilians and zombies respectively.
Guns: There are quite a few of them.
Custom Air Gun - Shoot smaller bullets, but has 12 of them.
Machine Gun - Shoot out 6 bullets at once for more damages. But you need to reload after one shot.
Grenade Launcher - Shoot a powerful bomb and has a wide hitbox. Can shoot 3 shots before needing to reload.
Shotgun - shoot very powerful shots. 2 bullets per chamber.
Bass Lure - Lure zombies to kill them. 6 bullets per chamber.
There's also UFO?? and Double Score. the format will spawn UFO at occasion which you can shoot for points, while the latter double your overall score for the entire game.

Maybe explain which items are random and the path to get them so you can build stock for particular item quicker, also minimum conditions for some. By the way how many playthrough minimum is needed to get all items?
It's hard to tell because it depends on luck. Actually, I couldn't get grenade launcher with 5 playthrough for this video. If you are lucky, you will able to get all of them with 3 or 4 playthrough.

this really shows how unfinished HOTD1 was because this was only 2 years after it was published.

Larry Bundy Jr late but it’s said they lost the source code to the game so if they ever were to remake hotd1 it would have to be from scratch.

@@Larry better late than never, think there is only a Saturn and PC ports but there are differnces between them and the arcade version (later is obviously better). Apparently 1 and 2 are being remade (was due out this year but current day events delayed it)
