Alright I’ve went and read the Chinese version and I can say that most of the translations in this video is correct EXCEPT for the dlc ending. What he originally meant is that YES there will be an ending to the dlc just that there will not be multi endings like the base game but you can make some choices while you journey towards the end.
I still believe Radahn dying will allow the stars to move again, finally making the eclipse to resurrect Godwyn possible. Maybe that could even be the reason Malenia fought Radahn at all, to help Miquella achieve his goals (in this case with Godwyn)
except Miquella's plan wasn't to resurrect Godwyn, but to kill him. The Golden Epitaph reads: "oh brother, Lord brother, die a true death" and it's certain this references Miquella because the Ash of War uses Miquella's seal. Miquella's plan was to drain the sun of it's gold during the eclipse, form it into a big needle and kill Godwyn's body and the root system of the Erdtree (which the Haligtree is not in contact with) with it. For more details i highly recommend to check out Tarnished Archaeologist's video on it (and on pretty much everything else as well)

Theory - Radahn is holding back the fate of Miquella. Miquellas fate is going to be revealed related to the Moon of Nokstella, which will bring about the eclipse - the Moon of Nokstella is "The guide of countless stars". This can be interpreted as the moon of the fate of those who live in death.
I’m guessing Radahn holding back the stars prevented a lot of physical and paracausal events from occurring. If that act could hold back the destiny of Ranni, a demigod and Empyrean, then there’s no telling how many other things Radahn was inadvertently putting a stop to.
Yep. Malenia needed Radahns death to either (A) resume the movements of the stars to resume her Brother’s destiny of Godhood, or (B) resume the movements of the stars to continue Miquella’s eclipse ritual. Bottom line is: Malenia went to defeat Radahn to unlock Miquella from a stagnant fate, it seems
I think it also prevented the eclipse at castle sol, which would tie it to the DlC lore wise because of miquellas plans. I think in some sense, the erdtree is now the sort of "sun" figure and thus an eclipse would block the light of the erdtree and "unobscure" the land of shadow, which will likely be some step if not the final step of miquellas plans we see in that final shot of him and the tree. And that the unveiling of the land of shadow has something to do with bringing Godwyn the true death Miquella wanted for him. we also know that by holding back the stars Radahn held back fate, which maybe prevented these events from happenimg

It's impressive how much Miyazaki still maintains that classic Japanese politeness, even now that he's one of the most respected game developers in the entire world. If it were me, I think the success might go to my head.
So the important points are: - Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only and final DLC - The base game will remain untouched and the DLC is fully self-contained - The DLC won't have an ending but probably ends just as abruptly as The Ringed City did after Gael - St. Trina is confirmed to make an appearance
I like the stars point you brought up. As the stars hold Rannis' fate. Maybe there is something similar there. Maybe not fate per say, but something similar. He is preventing something or a key point to something. Which is why Melania wanted to clash with him
Heard about the interview yesterday and I was waiting for you to drop a video about it. I didn’t think I could be more excited for the DLC but I was wrong.
Also, knowing that Radahn is lore wise necessary for the DLC, for me at least, more than confirm that Malenia fought him because Miquella needed him dead, not that she was looking for Miquella and Radahn just happen to be in the way. Now we just need to see if Castle Sol "Eclipse", Godwyn, and anything related to the ones who live in death will have a place in the DLC. And since St Trina will be there, if the frenzy Merchants song will be elaborated on.
@@RealCutieMutiei hope there will be Godwyn in the dlc, atleast more lore about him, this is a theory, but in each trio of demigods(if you believe messmer is in Miquella and malenia and not melina),there are always a science god(making inventions)like rykard and Miquella ,since morgott and mohg are more statesmanship and Godwyn from what we know is a warrior like his father pre godfrey,a diplomat, and a founder of the ancient dragon cult, and the three of them atleast related to the crucible,i want Godwyn to be the science god,in a elden ring biotechnology/alchemy sense.
My guess as to why we have to fight Radahn: In Sekiro Dubi's video (New Unused Maps in Elden Ring - Cut Content) he mentioned the catalyst mechanic. Maybe this mechanic will be used in the DLC. With this mechanic we are able to make meteorits come down. This is only possible if we have fought Radahn.
@@andothersuchnonsense2685 I dont believe this is true at all. Cause if it is, the DLC would affect the main games story big time and Miyazaki confirmed that it would not affect the main game story. If we for example burn Melina, she literally dies meaning St. Trina could not possibly appear in the DLC. Miyazaki said St. Trina would appear. That alone debunks this theory. Melina is/was 95% the Gloam-Eyed Queen. Its anything but confirmed.
@@EldenLord. that's fine lol, im not saying its true. i said that conversation is why no one is having Gloam-Eyed Queen conversations now, and it is. the popularity of that video sucked the air of the conversation about her.
aaah that makes sense why it took so long.. one gigantic dlc vs several smaller ones.. I feel like an average playthrough took me around 60 hrs with mild exploration depending on build.. I wld assume with the dlc it will increase the playtime an extra 20ish hours
This confirms what I've long suspected. Miyazaki wasn't trolling when he said 30 hours. It actually did take him only 30 hours to 100% the game, and he thinks the rest of us need to git gud for taking longer.
I took 170 hours on my first playthrough and definitely didn't 100% the game (mainly all the questlines were left undone, but I think I did defeat all bosses).
Well if you only do the least required to finish the game plus a few optional areas just to get the good weapons and stuff... 30h seems correct. Doing 100% though would take way more. Look at speedruns. 55mn glitchless any%, all achievements 2h39. But there's no section for 100% like all items and stuff. That would take so long speedrunners probably don't bother with it. Only good explorators do.
I have not touched ER since the DLC was announced. I am chomping at the bits to play. But I want to wait until I know what weapons they are adding before I choose a build and start a fresh playthrough.
same. Also i want to play the sorceries they include in the dlc so i can play with my first character through all the game’s content before going for a second playthrough
At this point Miyazaki has become one of the most revered leads in the industry and yet he still has so much respect for both the audience and other people in his industry. I've seen so many people with inflated egos that have neither his technical know-how, nor his so to say fame it's insane.
I think what the interviewee meant by "no one in the main game will appear in the dlc" means no old characters will conflict with new story. The person saying "touch the withered arm..." isnlikely a new character, so them appearing in the dynasty isn't the same.
I’m still curious if main game bosses will become refightable because that has been one of my biggest wants from the game since Sekiro’s rematch system came out.
New attributs in the DLC could be something like sleep poise. Like if you activate it, your weapon is sleep infuse and you can get critical hits or something like in Sekiro.
There could be some potential DLC crossover to the main game. Dark souls 1 had the hidden cutscene with Sif if you met her in the DLC first. Slave Knight Gael in DS3 would disappear as a summon in Ashes of Ariandel if you killed him in the ringed city, he will also disappear from the chapel in the main game and leave the piece of painting behind if you haven't accessed the DLC yet and killed him in the ringed city. These things are very minor though and I doubt there would be consequences in Elden Ring for getting too far in the game.
I would love if they released all the history that GRRM wrote that didn’t make it into the game or DLC. Maybe as a book or something. Just so that we could have the whole context of the story.
It's funny how he said the main game is estimated to be beaten in 30 hours. My first playthrough was 180 hours, but I took my time and was very thorough. I wanted to find everything the game had to offer
Through the midst of this drama with Helldivers I keep saying in a month and a half I’m not even going to remember what a helldiver is. I can’t wait for the real game of the year material to release on June 21st.
I can already see it now, someone is going to buy the DLC and then post a negative review saying "apparently you need to beat TWO difficult bosses (radhan and morgot or something) which are FAR TOO DIFFICULT and I want a refund because I should be able to play what I paid for!!!!!"
I suspect it will be somewhat similar to Gael's appearance at the Cathedral of the Deep. I think there will be a new NPC that appears somewhere in Nokron, and they will meet back up with us after defeating Mohg to do something that allows us to enter the DLC. Or they may give us an item in Nokron that we'll use to enter the DLC. I think it's also possible there could be a new quest from Gideon once we find Miquella. In general, I think it's more that they won't allow conflicts to occur where the DLC requires the presence of a main game NPC that you might have killed, nor will DLC NPCs appear in the main game in a way that conflicts with existing questlines. There's still some wiggle room. Edit: I also think that finishing the DLC will lift the veil and the Land of Shadows will be visible from the Lands Between and vice versa. It may even be possible to walk between them.
Hey Ziostorm, i have a suggestion for a video which, honestly, would be pretty cool imo. Can you make a video about all (or the most popular) unanswered lore questions? Or the most popular misteries we expect to get a conclusion after the the DLC?
i just wanna say in the context of the shadowed erdtree representing the ideals of the people of the lands of shadow as a theory already has precedence in the lore as it is directly stated at least a couple times in the game and supported by other lore theorists that the erdtree, is not a real tree that exists in the lands between, but similar to grace, is an optical phenomena related to the faith of the people in the lands between all that to say we should treat these trees as symbols, specifically symbols of faith, and not literal physical trees
also i dont understand why people think that the blue robe lady/dude is a carian when there is only tangential evidence at best. I strongly disagree that the cathedral type structure she is in looks anything like the carians architecture, if anything it looks more like stormveil architecture, or the chapel of anticipation the purple lights to me do not symbolize carians either and i dont know why people say that they do because it is very obvious and clear that 99% of the light sources in caria are blue also the candelabras in the room with them have a very vinelike stretching appearance similar to some imagery of st trina anyways my guess is theyre part of a unique group, maybe they are a mage group but i think to say that they are just "carians" is an oversimplification of information we barely even have

Radahn was holding back fate. Big changes couldn't happen without his death. I know Miyazaki says there's no definitive end and that it won't effect the story greatly, but fate being "stuck" while Radahn lives HAS to be related to why we can't access the lands of shadow, where Marika first set foot, where the Erdtree grew, etc. etc, etc.

It’s the player character same character in the launch trailer using a Miranda spell that was cut from the game go back and watch it you’ll see what I mean.
I feel like they'll probably handle dlc npcs being in the main game very similarly to dark souls 3. What I mean is that I can see someone like Gael being the person that tells us to go to dlc but later shows up like Gael does in both of DS3's dlcs (though he's just barely in the first one)
It's prob better that ER will end with the DLC instead of going for a franchise run since at From they've always expressed their very best talent and artistic value with new IPs. Besides, imagine how many years in development an ER 2 would take...good luck with that.
My main take-aways from that info. 1. We won't fight Godwyn - at least not in Deeproot Depths main game. 2. Man I REALLY wish I hadn't looked into all those cut-content lore videos, YIKES. 3. TORLINA is REAL 4. They really have the BALLS to lock the DLC behind one of the tougher bosses in the main game, I find that quite puzzling actually, not complaining though - MY BODY IS READY.
There're so many strategies to be able to kill Mogh without too much trouble. If it is really too great of a barrier, there's always a last resort of comet Azur

Tip for you my friend… scarlet rot FUCKS HIM UP. You mix that with black flame or destined death and you’ll leave him with less than a third health after his nihil ritual. Hope it helps😁
My best guess as to why Radahn is a requirement is because his ability to hold back the stars and probably moon too, and the dialouge of the ghost at castle Sol about the sun not being swallowed. Like how I think you discussed in another video I believe, the followers of Miquella were somehow using an eclipse to bring back Godwyn or give him a proper death. So I wonder if that will be touched on in the DLC.
What's going to suck is that we've patiently been waiting for the DLC for awhile now that once it's here and we play it, it'll be gone so quickly :( The fact that it's the only DLC hopefully means we'll get something like an Elden Ring 2 or something in the same universe. Hopefully we get another game from them that gives that awe feeling we got with the first play through of Elden Ring. There hasn't been anything like that feeling in a lonnnnng time from a game.
As for why Radahn has to be defeated: I think it has to do with whatever Miquella was doing in Castle Sol. One NPC there says this: "Lord Miquella, forgive me. The sun has not been swallowed. Our prayers were lacking. Your comrade remains soulless... I will never set my eyes upon it now. Your divine Haligtree." So maybe Radahn was holding back whatever was supposed to "swallow" the sun. I think the soulles comrade is most likely Godwyn...
Mythology/real history says that the belief was that sun was swallowed by a dragon, which caused an eclipse. Also, that basilisk blood/ash is required to make gold. So is the blood of a red headed man, coincidentally. This all points to Godwyn. Miquella wanted to give his brother a proper death, and heal Malenia of her rot. I think all of this is part of the "decisions" Miyazaki is talking on. The word basilisk means "little king", "little prince", "chieftain", or "young ruler". It's also called the "king of serpents." Don't be surprised to see us have to fight Godwyn in basilisk form like as he looks like in the Deeproot Depths. Killing Messmer would be required to make gold as well....the purest gold (unalloyed gold). EDIT: this falls perfectly with "Rebis." White Queen (Miquella) + Red King (Messmer) + Dragon (Godwyn).
Alright I’ve went and read the Chinese version and I can say that most of the translations in this video is correct EXCEPT for the dlc ending. It's impressive how much Miyazaki still maintains that classic Japanese politeness, even now that he's one of the most respected game developers in the entire world. If it were me, I think the success might go to my head.
So the important points are:
- Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only and final DLC
- The base game will remain untouched and the DLC is fully self-contained
- The DLC won't have an ending but probably ends just as abruptly as The Ringed City did after Gael
- St. Trina is confirmed to make an appearance
4:27 with Elden Ring it’s never enough content.
There isn't even a question, knowing that St Trina is confirmed to be in the DLC is the best news I could get as a lore enthusiast :3

My guess as to why we have to fight Radahn:
In Sekiro Dubi's video (New Unused Maps in Elden Ring - Cut Content) he mentioned the catalyst mechanic. Maybe this mechanic will be used in the DLC. With this mechanic we are able to make meteorits come down. This is only possible if we have fought Radahn.
I also hope we finally learn more about Melina in the DLC. Why nobody is talking about her and if shes the Gloam-Eyed Queen or not.
The "Melina is Miquella" thing has sorta become the preeminent conversation about Melina.

I'm absolutely convinced that the boomerang throwing skeleton boss in the trailer is undead/shadow Radahn.
So you're saying that's what happens when Radahn goes... Down Under?
aaah that makes sense why it took so long.. one gigantic dlc vs several smaller ones..
😭😭
I took 170 hours on my first playthrough and definitely didn't 100% the game (mainly all the questlines were left undone, but I think I did defeat all bosses).
Blud I was clocking in at 120 hours when I reached farum azula
Well if you only do the least required to finish the game plus a few optional areas just to get the good weapons and stuff... 30h seems correct.
Doing 100% though would take way more.
Look at speedruns. 55mn glitchless any%, all achievements 2h39.
But there's no section for 100% like all items and stuff. That would take so long speedrunners probably don't bother with it. Only good explorators do.
my first playthrough was around 70 hours. subsequent ones were about half.
I always thought that St Trina and miqullea were like radagon and marika were both could temporarily take over and do stuff
June will be the happiest month in my entire gaming life, between Hades 2 Early Access and SOTE, Im SO ready!
I like how they ask great questions.
Mr Miyazaki is the goat. Dude is humble and makes the most fantastic games. Big props and keep them coming, sir!
What an excellent interview! That definitely is going to hold me off for another month and half
New ziostorm vid while I work. Yes please.
Elden Ring has so much more to give, man. I wish they'd keep making Elden Ring content

Lets goooooo! It seems i was right about the veils disappearing!

Miyazaki, and by extension FromSoft, are such class acts. I am sooo pumped for Shadow of the Erdtree!!
Or the most popular misteries we expect to get a conclusion after the the DLC?
i just wanna say in the context of the shadowed erdtree representing the ideals of the people of the lands of shadow as a theory already has precedence in the lore
as it is directly stated at least a couple times in the game and supported by other lore theorists that the erdtree, is not a real tree that exists in the lands between, but similar to grace, is an optical phenomena related to the faith of the people in the lands between
all that to say we should treat these trees as symbols, specifically symbols of faith, and not literal physical trees
also i dont understand why people think that the blue robe lady/dude is a carian when there is only tangential evidence at best. I strongly disagree that the cathedral type structure she is in looks anything like the carians architecture, if anything it looks more like stormveil architecture, or the chapel of anticipation
the purple lights to me do not symbolize carians either and i dont know why people say that they do because it is very obvious and clear that 99% of the light sources in caria are blue
also the candelabras in the room with them have a very vinelike stretching appearance similar to some imagery of st trina
anyways my guess is theyre part of a unique group, maybe they are a mage group but i think to say that they are just "carians" is an oversimplification of information we barely even have
@@Kodama666 that NPC is literally in a replica of the Church of the Cuckoo of Raya Lucaria. Bird cages, unique to Raya Lucaria, are also shown in that scene. Glintstones are being used for light. Check all of this for yourself, the evidence is all there.

@@HeevaEgo glintstones arent purple so no those are not glintstone lights, that is not at all what the lgihts in raya lucaria look like, and i have seen the side by sides of church of the cuckoo and the location of that cutscene npc and i ENTIRELY disagree that they look even remotely similar, maybe to you they do but not to me lol and id like to see someone actually show the extreme similarities with side by sides

Why nobod's talking about Godwyn? Like noone asks any question about him in the interwievs. Do people forgot about him?

Radahn was holding back fate. Big changes couldn't happen without his death. I know Miyazaki says there's no definitive end and that it won't effect the story greatly, but fate being "stuck" while Radahn lives HAS to be related to why we can't access the lands of shadow, where Marika first set foot, where the Erdtree grew, etc. etc, etc.

If the NPCs in the DLC are all different then that means the blond lady in the trailer isn't Roderika. My theory is that it's Roderika's twin sister: who wears a Navy Hood because she actually saw the guidance of Grace.
Keep up the good work, Ziostorm.

2. Man I REALLY wish I hadn't looked into all those cut-content lore videos, YIKES.
3. TORLINA is REAL
4. They really have the BALLS to lock the DLC behind one of the tougher bosses in the main game, I find that quite puzzling actually, not complaining though - MY BODY IS READY.

I’m more excited about then my birthday.
