    North Range Road is a local playground for 4WD enthusiasts in the lower north island. It's a great place to test out your vehicles with little chance of vehicle damage. There are easy and hard options along this track to suit most peoples abilities. This time we had a not so common vehicle, a 'Mitsubishi Delica' van. The capability of this van was both surprising and awesome to watch! Shout out to Scott for being the cameraman for the day 👍

    I've heard the 1uz/3uz is pretty much a bolt on into these things, that true?

    What happened to the 4m40?

    • @shakynz1
      @shakynz1 Год назад +1

      I binned it. Luv the vans but the 4M40 is a brick with cooling issues. The 1UZ VVTi is a bullet proof engine. I've done over 30,000kn's since the conversion and it's all been trouble free. And as you can see it doesn't get treated like a princess. Theres some hard km's on the van. 🙂

      @@shakynz1 totally understand bro. Here in the Caribbean where I live i have pajeros with 4m40s and I just wish I can see someone build it. No one here does awesome conversions like you guys and well its because of how expensive everything is.

      These old engines are bomb proof! I can’t believe he binned it. Oil changes are all these need to do a million miles

    • @shakynz1
      @shakynz1 Год назад

      @@mrmr6563 The 4M40 diesels are far from bomb proof. They're prone to cracking heads as the older the vans get the cooling systems fail. I bought this van with a already broken motor and did the swap because it's something I wanted to do for a while. The Toyota V8 'IS" a bullet proof engine. I have the van I like(Delica L400) without all the issues that come with a ageing diesel and a ton more power when I want it. Win win as far as I'm concerned.

      @@shakynz1 it certainly is very nice, and you’re right about the 4M40, the only thing I’d say is the 4M40 cooling issues are easy and cheap to fix…new radiator, water pump, viscous fan, alloy expansion tank and thermostat cost me $750 and the thermocouple I fitted to the thermostat housing shows 76c temp in a 42c summer day, never been above 79c going in Alpine areas. Of course it’s a lot slower than yours is, but it’s cheap to fix and I’ve done over 400,000 km…keep it cool and put in good oil. That’s it.
