  • Thanks so much to singer-songwriter Terri Binion. Terri has performed and recorded with many legends and hard-working troubadours, including Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, Arlo Guthrie, Steve Forbert, Alejandro Escovedo, American Aquarium, Watson Twins, Drivin n Cryin, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, and Jim White. Jimmy Webb (who wrote the classic song Galveston) gave Terri a nod in his book Tunesmith. She released several highly acclaimed records 20+ years ago and toured extensively to support those records, but she pretty much walked away from “the recording industry” over 15 years ago. As she says in this interview "the recording industry doesn’t want me.” But she has never stopped writing, recording, and performing songs. In fact, she has new music coming out soon. I admire many things about Terri, including her wisdom, grateful attitude, and celebration of writing and playing music as an end in itself.
In this conversation we talk about Terri’s biography, her wild ride in the 90s and early 00s recording, travelling, playing gigs, her musical influences, her songwriting processes, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Jim White, Lucinda, her guiding philosophies, and many more things. I encourage everyone to check out her music at the link below. Thanks again to Terri Binion.
