Good day I am surprized that there are only 3 main bearings, I thought most 4 cyl had 5 main bearings. Interesting how some bearings are wore more. Thanks
Taking my 172 Diesel 4000 Engine apart and the Crank Pulley is Held On with a bolt with a Huge Straight Screwdriver Slot in it.. Have you Seen That Before??
Never saw that before. Some people added crank driven hydraulic pumps to them but those bolted to the hub. Someone might have just found a bolt that fit and put in it there.
On my 4000 (172 Diesel) with the Motor Taken Off for the Rebuild, the Two splined transmission shafts (that spline through both Clutch plates) have substantial movement (the large splined Shaft only, Basically).. Oil was inside the Bell Housing as well.. I'm Thinking that this is Not Normal and Needs Exploring into as Well since the Tractor is already Separated.. Do you Have any Thoughts to share on this Please.. Thanks, Richard
The 5 speed I bought to replace my select-o-speed was like that. I tore it apart and rebuilt it, videos in the works on that. On mine the larger pto shaft had 2 thrust washers on it, a steel and a bronze. The bronze washer was worn quite a bit. This washer isn't available from New Holland so I had to make one. Once I did that I was able to eliminate most of the side-to-side play in the shafts. As for seals there are 2 shaft seals and 2 gaskets needed to remove the input shafts. There is also an o-ring on the cover below the input shafts. Any of those can cause oil to leak into the bell housing.
Is it just Pull the front Housing to fix this Problem Sir.. I can make a shim or bushing if Necessary.. The Small clutch input shaft is Tight in its bore.. Just the Second (Bigger Splined shaft) is Moving.. Thanks, Richard
@@richardtharp1608 Yes. What I refer to as the throwout bearing retainer will come off, 6 nuts, and then the inputs shafts will come out. There is another bearing support on the 6 studs that doesn't have to come off to remove the shafts but there is another gasket behind it. That support is a little tricky to come out since you have to wiggle it to clear the PTO gear in the transmission. That support does not need to come out unless you want to change the gasket behind it. The 2 thrust washers are on the engine side of the PTO shaft in between the PTO drive gear and the throw out bearing retainer. Also 3 thrust washers on transmission input shaft but if that shaft is tight they should be fine. Those aren't available either.
As usual another great video!

Are there timing marks for the crank shaft balancer ?
Yes. There is a dot on the crankshaft and a dot or line on the balancer. You may also have paint marks on them. Mine had green paint on the marks.

Can you show how to rebuild your entire engine
The rebuild is other videos to keep them short. Working on editing the videos of rebuilding the cylinder head now so they'll be up soon.
